摘要: For accurate vehicle self-localization, many approaches rely on the match between sophisticated 3D map data and sensor information obtained from laser scanners or camera images. However, when depending on highly accurate map data, every small change in the environment has to be detected and the corresponding map section needs to be updated. As an alternative, we propose an approach which is able to provide map-relative lane-level localization without the restraint of requiring extensive sensor equipment, neither for generating the maps, nor for aligning map to sensor data. It uses freely available crowdsourced map data which is enhanced and stored in a graph-based relational local dynamic map (R-LDM). Based on rough position estimation, provided by Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) such as GPS or Galileo, we align visual information with map data that is dynamically queried from the R-LDM. This is done by comparing virtual 3D views (so-called candidates), created from projected map data, with lane geometry data, extracted from the image of a front facing camera. More specifically, we extract explicit lane marking information from the real-world view using a lane-detection algorithm that fits lane markings to a curvilinear model. The position correction relative to the initial guess is determined by best match search of the virtual view that fits best the processed real-world view. Evaluations performed on data recorded in The Netherlands show that our algorithm presents a promising approach to allow lane-level localization using state-of-the-art equipment and freely available map data.

摘要: A 53-year-old patient consulted our practice clinic complaining of progressive visual loss, increased glare sensitivity and color sense disorder. Extensive diagnostic investigation, including multifocal ERG (mfERG) and macular thickness map with the help of optical coherence tomography (OCT), supported the suspected diagnosis of a cone dystrophy. There are, however, no established therapeutic options. A diagnostic confirmation by means of molecular genetics was not successful.

A Novel Edge-Map Creation Approach for Highly Accurate Pupil Localization in Unconstrained Infrared Iris Images
摘要: Iris segmentation in the iris recognition systems is a challenging task under noncooperative environments. The iris segmentation is a process of detecting the pupil, iris’s outer boundary, and eyelids in the iris image. In this paper, we propose a pupil localization method for locating the pupils in the non-close-up and frontal-view iris images that are captured under near-infrared (NIR) illuminations and contain the noise, such as specular and lighting reflection spots, eyeglasses, nonuniform illumination, low contrast, and occlusions by the eyelids, eyelashes, and eyebrow hair. In the proposed method, first, a novel edge-map is created from the iris image, which is based on combining the conventional thresholding and edge detection based segmentation techniques, and then, the general circular Hough transform (CHT) is used to find the pupil circle parameters in the edge-map. Our main contribution in this research is a novel edge-map creation technique, which reduces the false edges drastically in the edge-map of the iris image and makes the pupil localization in the noisy NIR images more accurate, fast, robust, and simple. The proposed method was tested with three iris databases: CASIA-Iris-Thousand (version 4.0), CASIA-Iris-Lamp (version 3.0), and MMU (version 2.0). The average accuracy of the proposed method is 99.72% and average time cost per image is 0.727 sec.

摘要: Neonatal jaundice is a yellowish discoloration of skin and eyes that commonly occurs in newborn babies. It is a physiological phenomenon in neonates and it occurs due to the overproduction of bilirubin, reduction of bilirubin treatment function. The quick and accurate treatment is required for neonatal jaundice because it can lead to nuclear jaundice, cerebral palsy, intellectual disturbance and various sequelae. The investigation methods for examining neonatal jaundice include examination using jaundice meter and blood sampling. However, these methods require continuous monitoring and can cause burden on newborn babies. In this paper, we propose the non-contact and non-invasive detection method for neonatal jaundice using image processing and computer vision technology. The experiments are performed on the data collected by University Hospital, University of Miyazaki. According to the experiments, we confirmed about the usefulness of proposed method which can work effectively for infants.

摘要: Region of interest (ROI) detection plays an important role in object detection. It needs to be accurate and fast in some applications like real time disaster victim detection systems. ROI can reduce time and search space in detecting objects. In this paper visual saliency map is used for ROI detection. In most literature, most of ROI detection models only concentrate on reducing false positive (detecting wrong objects as intended ones) rate rather than false negative (missing intended object). In disaster victim detection, missing disaster victims is more important than detecting other objects like victim. So, the proposed method also focuses on reducing false negative error rate in object detection. In the proposed system, local entropy feature is added in Graph Based Visual Saliency (GBVS) map in addition to colour, orientation and shape feature maps.

Focal overlap gating in velocity map imaging to achieve high signal-to-noise ratio in photo-ion pump-probe experiments
摘要: We demonstrate a technique in velocity map imaging (VMI) that allows spatial gating of the laser focal overlap region in time resolved pump-probe experiments. This significantly enhances signal-to-noise ratio by eliminating background signal arising outside the region of spatial overlap of pump and probe beams. This enhancement is achieved by tilting the laser beams with respect to the surface of the VMI electrodes which creates a gradient in flight time for particles born at different points along the beam. By suitably pulsing our microchannel plate detector, we can select particles born only where the laser beams overlap. This spatial gating in velocity map imaging can benefit nearly all photo-ion pump-probe VMI experiments especially when extreme-ultraviolet light or X-rays are involved which produce large background signals on their own.

摘要: Automatically identifying the locations and severities of video artifacts is a difficult problem. We have developed a general method for detecting local artifacts by learning differences between distorted and pristine video frames. Our model, which we call the Video Impairment Mapper (VID-MAP), produces a full resolution map of artifact detection probabilities based on comparisons of exitatory and inhibatory convolutional responses. Validation on a large database shows that our method outperforms the previous state-of-the-art. A software release of VID-MAP that was trained to produce upscaling and combing detection probability maps is available online: http://live.ece.utexas.edu/research/quality/VIDMAPrelease.zip for public use and evaluation.

Investigation of Interface Diffusion in Sputter Deposited Gd0.1Ce0.9O1.95 Thin Buffer Layers on Y-Stabilized Zirconia Crystalline Substrates for Solid Oxide Cells Applications
摘要: This paper presents the results concerning the investigation of the morphological and structural properties of Gd0.1Ce0.9O1.95 layers deposited on crystalline (111) YSZ subtrates by RF magnetron sputtering. Room temperature as-grown samples have been annealed at different temperatures from 600°C to 1300°C. Atomic Force Microscopy analysis shows an increase in the average grain size dimensions with increasing annealing temperatures. X-Ray Diffraction measurements indicates a preferential growth of the grains along the (111) direction with a decrease in the evaluated c-axis as a function of the annealing temperature, probably related to an over-oxidation of the samples. X-Ray Reflectivity studies, performed on thin layers annealed at temperatures from 700-1000°C, points out the presence of zones with different densities and roughness at the layer/substrate interface and at the layer/vacuum surface. The behaviour of these zones as a function of temperature has been investigated. The obtained results seem to exclude the presence of consistent inter-diffusion phenomena at the GDC/YSZ interface.

Multi-resolution Image Fusion in Remote Sensing () || Image Fusion: Application to Super-resolution of Natural Images
摘要: Increasing the spatial resolution of a given test image is of interest to the image processing community since the enhanced resolution of the image has better details when compared to the corresponding low resolution image. Super-resolution (SR) is an algorithmic approach in which a high spatial resolution image is obtained by using single/multiple low resolution observations or by using a database of LR–HR pairs. The linear image formation model discussed for image fusion in Chapter 4 is extended here to obtain an SR image for a given LR test observation. In the image fusion problem, the available Pan image was used in obtaining a high resolution fused image. Similar to the fusion problem, SR is also concerned with the enhancement of spatial resolution. However, we do not have a high resolution image such as a Pan image as an additional observation. Hence, we make use of a database of LR–HR pairs in order to obtain the SR for the given LR observation. Here, we use contourlet based learning to obtain the initial SR estimate which is then used in obtaining the degradation as well as the MRF parameter. Similar to the fusion problem discussed in Chapter 4, an MAP–MRF framework is used to obtain the final SR image.

Security Authentication of Dual Chaotic Image Watermarking in Spatial Domain with Spatial and Frequency Domain Characteristics Analysis
摘要: This article presents an advanced dual chaotic watermarking scheme to improve information security. To ensure confidentiality in digital image transmission, a secure dual watermarking scheme is proposed by applying the chaotic logistic system and hyper-chaotic dynamical system. Chaotic watermarking was conducted in the spatial domain, where suboptimal secure hashing with a variable length was selected in preprocessing stages. The secret key was generated by the chaotic sequence for pixel shuffling using a chaotic logistic map, so that a controlled amount of distortion was inserted into the host digital image. Watermarking was proceeded after the chaotic watermark had been embedded into the shuffled image. To strengthen the security, the hyper-chaotic system was used to generate chaotic blocks for block scrambling in order to achieve dual chaotic watermarking. Characteristics analysis was conducted for multiple examples in both spatial and frequency domains. Potential effects induced by the chaotic driving parameter on processing time and integrity authentication of chaotic dual watermarking were also analyzed in detail.
