A Single-Stage Low-Power AC-DC RGB-LED Driver with Switching Capacitor Control Scheme
摘要: The High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard (ITU-T H.265 and ISO/IEC 23008-2) has been developed with the main goal of providing significantly improved video compression compared with its predecessors. In order to evaluate this goal, verification tests were conducted by the Joint Collaborative Team on Video Coding of ITU-T SG 16 WP 3 and ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29. This paper presents the subjective and objective results of a verification test in which the performance of the new standard is compared with its highly successful predecessor, the Advanced Video Coding (AVC) video compression standard (ITU-T H.264 and ISO/IEC 14496-10). The test used video sequences with resolutions ranging from 480p up to ultra-high definition, encoded at various quality levels using the HEVC Main profile and the AVC High profile. In order to provide a clear evaluation, this paper also discusses various aspects for the analysis of the test results. The tests showed that bit rate savings of 59% on average can be achieved by HEVC for the same perceived video quality, which is higher than a bit rate saving of 44% demonstrated with the PSNR objective quality metric. However, it has been shown that the bit rates required to achieve good quality of compressed content, as well as the bit rate savings relative to AVC, are highly dependent on the characteristics of the tested content.

摘要: This paper presents an advanced depth intra-coding approach for 3D video coding based on the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard and the multiview video plus depth (MVD) representation. This paper is motivated by the fact that depth signals have specific characteristics that differ from those of natural signals, i.e., camera-view video. Our approach replaces conventional intra-picture coding for the depth component, targeting a consistent and efficient support of 3D video applications that utilize depth maps or polygon meshes or both, with a high depth coding efficiency in terms of minimal artifacts in rendered views and meshes with a minimal number of triangles for a given bit rate. For this purpose, we introduce intra-picture prediction modes based on geometric primitives along with a residual coding method in the spatial domain, substituting conventional intra-prediction modes and transform coding, respectively. The results show that our solution achieves the same quality of rendered or synthesized views with about the same bit rate as MVD coding with the 3D video extension of HEVC (3D-HEVC) for high-quality depth maps and with about 8% less overall bit rate as with 3D-HEVC without the combination of related depth tools. At the same time, the combination of 3D video with 3D computer graphics content is substantially simplified, as the geometry-based depth intra signals can be represented as a surface mesh with about 85% less triangles, generated directly in the decoding process as an alternative decoder output.

Analysis of High-Temperature Carrier Transport Mechanisms for High Al-Content Al <sub/>0.6</sub> Ga <sub/>0.4</sub> N MSM Photodetectors
摘要: We propose a generative model for robust tensor factorization in the presence of both missing data and outliers. The objective is to explicitly infer the underlying low-CANDECOMP/PARAFAC (CP)-rank tensor capturing the global information and a sparse tensor capturing the local information (also considered as outliers), thus providing the robust predictive distribution over missing entries. The low-CP-rank tensor is modeled by multilinear interactions between multiple latent factors on which the column sparsity is enforced by a hierarchical prior, while the sparse tensor is modeled by a hierarchical view of Student-t distribution that associates an individual hyperparameter with each element independently. For model inference under a fully Bayesian treatment, which can effectively prevent the overfitting problem and scales linearly with data size. In contrast to existing related works, our method can perform model selection automatically and implicitly without the need of tuning parameters. More specifically, it can discover the groundtruth of CP rank and automatically adapt the sparsity inducing priors to various types of outliers. In addition, the tradeoff between the low-rank approximation and the sparse representation can be optimized in the sense of maximum model evidence. The extensive experiments and comparisons with many state-of-the-art algorithms on both synthetic and real-world data sets demonstrate the superiorities of our method from several perspectives.

摘要: Mobile video surveillance applications are used widely nowadays. They offer real-time video monitoring for homes, offices, warehouses, airports, and so on with live and pre-recorded on-demand video streaming. Quality of service (QoS) remains a key challenge faced by most of these applications. In this article, we propose an architecture for mobile video surveillance applications with a guaranteed and differentiated QoS support. The architecture relies on the 3GPP 4G evolved packet core (EPC). The main components are the QoS enabler, media server, and machine-to-machine gateway and surveillance application. To demonstrate its feasibility, a proof of concept prototype has been implemented and deployed. We also took measurements to evaluate the performance. Several lessons were learned. For instance, multimedia frameworks must allow for buffering controls in media streaming to reduce live streaming delay. In addition, we have learned that publicly available materials related to the EPC prototyping platform we have used (i.e., OpenEPC) are scarce. This has made our prototyping task rather difficult.

摘要: A number of techniques have recently been proposed for privacy preserving in video surveillance. Most of them are irreversible or have interference effect to the observation and recognition of human activities. In this paper, we address these issues by developing an effective method including face detection and encryption. In face detection, skin-color based approach fusing with fuzzy clustering is produced to detect facial candidates coarsely, and then we re?ne face by using SVM classi?er. In face encryption, a reversible hybrid encryption (decryption) scheme based on spatial and value scrambling models is proposed. Simulation results verify the proposed mechanism can effectively detect and obscure faces while leaving the activities comprehensible and has high key sensibility for reducing the probability of attacking.

摘要: Because of the increasing requirements in regards to the pipeline transport regulations, the operators take care to the rigorous application of checking routines that ensure nonoccurrence of leaks and failures. In situ pipe inspection systems such as endoscopy, remains a reliable mean to diagnose possible abnormalities in the interior of a pipe such as corrosion. Through digital video processing, the acquired videos and images are analyzed and interpreted to detect the damaged and the risky pipeline areas. Thus, the objective of this work is to bring a powerful analysis tool for a rigorous pipeline inspection through the implementation of speci?c algorithms dedicated to this application for a precise delimitation of the defective zones and a reliable interpretation of the defect implicated, in spite of the drastic conditions inherent to the evolution of the endoscope inside the pipeline and the quality of the acquired images and videos.

摘要: The H.264/AVC medium grain scalable (MGS) video standard is utilized to optimize video playback on passive optical networks (PONs). Video traf?c delay is the primary object of this optimization, though this technique’s impacts on other network performance metrics such as data traf?c delay and video traf?c delay variance (jitter) are also investigated. Video playback is improved by employing an adaptive algorithm which progressively drops scalable video layers as network utilization increases. The performance impact of the algorithm’s three parameters is investigated in detail, and the results of the optimized algorithm are compared to baseline results for reference.

摘要: Most of today’s video quality assessment (VQA) databases contain very limited content and distortion diversities and fail to adequately represent real world video impairments. This is in part because conducting subjective studies in the lab is slow, inefficient and expensive process. Crowdsourcing quality scores is a more scalable solution. However given that viewers operate under innumerable viewing conditions (including display resolutions, viewing distances, internet connection speeds) and because they are not closely supervised, multiple technical challenges arise. We carefully designed a framework in Amazon Mechanical Turk (AMT) to address the many technical issues that are faced. We launched the largest available VQA study, collecting more than 205000 opinion scores provided by more than 4700 unique participants. We have verified that our framework provided us with results that are highly consistent with the ones obtained in a lab environment under controlled conditions.

摘要: This paper proposes a method for improving the results of deep convolutional neural network classification using synthetic image samples. Generative adversarial networks are used to generate synthetic images from a dataset of phase-contrast, human embryonic stem cell (hESC) microscopy images. hESCnet, a deep convolutional neural network is trained, and the results are shown on various combinations of synthetic and real images in order to improve the classification results with minimal data.
