    摘要: Visible light communication can provide higher bandwidth and bit rates without causing any interference to the Radio Frequency signals. Red-Green-Blue Light-Emitting Diodes are more suitable than other light sources as they have a smaller switching time, greater lifespan and cost-effective. Designing a communication scheme that avoids dimming and flickering, and that maximize the throughput and coverage area is challenging. Modulation schemes such as Amplitude Shift Keying, Frequency Shift Keying, and Phase Shift Keying exist in the literature for communication with controlled dimming and flickering effect. However, these schemes may not be efficient as they bound the bit rates with more Bit Error Rate. In this paper, a spread spectrum technique, Code Shift Keying along with Manchester (CSK-M) coding, is used to improve bit rates, a reduction in Bit Error Rate with an efficient control of fluctuations and dimming effect. The simulation results show that the presented approach outperforms the existing modulation schemes.

  • Flat gain C?+?L band using optical amplifiers for 200?×?14?Gbps DWDM system

    摘要: This paper has shown the analysis of 200 channels dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) system with the data rate of 14 Gbps for attaining the flat gain for the channel spectrum from 1520 to 1640 nm. Analysis has also extended with the power amplification of erbium–ytterbium co-doped optical amplifier (EYBCDOWA) and Raman optical amplifier for the transmission distance of 120 km to mitigate the effect of crosstalk and bit error rate (BER). Final analysis has also recommended that this proposed system is capable to deliver the flat gain of 19.5 dB with minor variation of 0.95 dB to maintain the acceptable dense communication for long distance.

    摘要: Free space optical communication (FSO) provides high data rate by allowing light passed through the atmosphere. It is very effective and efficient technology for wireless communication. This emerging field basically uses invisible beams of light such as ultraviolet, infrared, etc. This work exclusively deals with the designing of hybrid WDM based FSO system using the simulation software Opti-System 7.0 with Minimum-Shift Keying and Differential-phase-shift keying. Further their study has been made as to which modulation techniques provides better means of communication. The normal rain weakening from rain power information which are gathered for a period for six months. The concert of the future system is evaluated in terms of Bit Error Rate, Q-factor, and Receiver Sensitivity are examined with respect to link distance for using rain attenuation 20.5dBm. The transmission wavelength and data rate is 1550nm and 2.5Gbps considered for investigation.

  • Influence of Conventional Optical Amplifiers for 64×10 Gbps WDM System

    摘要: In this work we have investigated semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA), erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) and RAMAN Amplifier separately under 64 channels WDM system at 10 Gbps data rate. A comparison is made based upon the values of Q- factor, bit error rate (BER), and power received for different values of laser (present at the transmitter) power. The eye diagram for the three optical amplifiers has also been analyzed. Also factor, BER, and power the performance factors (Q- received) are evaluated for different values of fiber length. In general it is observed that with respect to the power received for a particular laser power (at the transmitter) and up to a fiber length of about 120 km Semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) gives the best result among all the three amplifiers. With respect to the quality (Q) – factor the RAMAN Amplifier gives slightly better result for a given laser power and for a short fiber length (up to a fiber length of 50 km). For long distance (fiber length greater than 160 km) the Q – factor for all the three optical amplifier saturates and become equal. In terms of Bit Error Rate, RAMAN amplifier is best as it gives minimum BER at a given laser power but up to the fiber length of 70 km EDFA provides minimum BER.

    摘要: The next generation passive optical network, stage 2 (NG-PON2) constitute milestone in the optical access networks evolution. Currently the requirements of its physical layer, such as a 40 Gb/s of upstream/downstream capacity, using a hybrid WDM-TDM technology with reliability and efficiency in bandwidth and power consumption. The NG'PON2 standard also demand an Optical Distribution Network (ODN) backward compatibility with previous ITU-T PON standards. In this paper we provide a comprehensive way to understand NG-PON2 and present an experimental demonstration of a NGPON-2 compliant network deployment, employing BER and Optical Path Penalty (OPP) measurements, in order to verify the performance of different inter-channel spacing variations for determining its impact in the data transmission. Results show that there is a 3 dB penalty when using 0.2 nm of inter-channel spacing with respect to a 0.4 nm of inter-channel spacing.

  • [IEEE 2018 International Conference on Advanced Science and Engineering (ICOASE) - Duhok (2018.10.9-2018.10.11)] 2018 International Conference on Advanced Science and Engineering (ICOASE) - An ICI Reduction Based on PAPR Clipping in Coherent Optical OFDM System

    摘要: The Inter-Carrier Interference (ICI) compensation for Coherent Optical Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (CO-OFDM) system has been studied in this paper. The purpose behind is to investigate the presence of ICI due to the impact of Laser Phase Noise (LPN) and Fiber Non-Linearity (FNL). Thereby, we propose a simple clipping scheme which represents an effective distortion algorithm to decrease the Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) for 4QAM system. The method exhibits a significant process on ICI cancellation in CO-OFDM system. The OFDM signal is basically transmitted along 550km distance rated at 10Gbps single mode fiber for the coherent optical mode. The new findings show that the receiver sensitivity is highly improved below 10-3 FEC for laser power 5dBm; and archives about 1dBm to 2.4dBm when laser power becomes 8dBm at a typical clipping ratio of 0.6. In particular, the system exhibits a good performance over a 385km transmission distance in comparison to the conventional CO-OFDM. As a result, the proposed clipping shows that the system can enhance its the performance by reducing ICI in the CO-OFDM system; in addition to present a high robustness in BER metric against FNL by a clear reduction in PAPR.

  • Performance Investigate and Analysis of 96?×?10 Gbps DWDM System Using Suitable Rating from Optical Amplifiers

    摘要: The objective of current work is to design and analyzed 96 × 10 Gbps DWDM system taking EDFA, SOA, and RAMAN amplifier as an inline amplifiers up to a fiber length of 300 km. The performance of EDFA, SOA, and RAMAN amplifier is measured on the basis of power received, Q-factor, probability of error and BER for various values of fiber distance. In this paper it has been proved that for 96 channels DWDM system at 10 Gbps bit rate, EDFA reveals superior performance as far as the amount of power received is concerned. The value of quality factor (Q-factor) for RAMAN amplifier is almost identical to that of the Q-factor for EDFA and is higher than the Q-factor for SOA till a fiber length of roughly 80 km thereafter SOA reveals somewhat better Q-factor than EDFA and RAMAN amplifier. As far as BER is concerned EDFA and RAMAN amplifier show roughly identical and somewhat lower BER than SOA till a fiber length of roughly 80 km, afterwards SOA reveal somewhat lesser BER till the fiber length of 210 km. In relation to the probability of error P(E), It is analyzed that P(E) remains more or less same for the entire set of optical amplifiers (OAs) but beyond the fiber length of 240 km EDFA shows somewhat lower P(E) than the other two OAs. At the end the Eye diagrams for the three OAs are also figure out.

    摘要: Free space optics (FSO) has achieved prominence in extremely large bandwidth, unlicensed spectrum and low power secure transmission in the field of wireless communication. Despite the advantages, it is deeply impacted due to atmospheric turbulence and fog weather conditions. This paper considers different modulation schemes under the presence of atmospheric turbulence and fog conditions. The desired expression of bit error rate (BER) is obtained by modeling the turbulence as gamma-gamma distributed channel and under this channel condition, 16-PPM has provided better performance than other schemes. BER is considered for the channel performance evaluation. This analysis can help to adopt a modulation technique according to the channel condition.

    摘要: Over the last few years, there has been a rapid increase in the number of people who are using high data rate services and applications. To be able to support the ever-increasing data rates to the end users, the time has come to consider other technologies which use the upper parts of electromagnetic spectrum other than the Radio Frequency (RF) spectrum. One such technology which can be used as an alternative to RF is Free-Space optical (FSO) communications. It provides higher bandwidth and improved Bit Error Rate (BER) performance because of negligible multipath and fading effect. In this article, the performance of an RF system and an FSO system using BPSK-subcarrier intensity modulation (BPSK-SIM) in a weak turbulent atmosphere are compared. It is found that from simulation results, FSO system has a performance gain of 62% over RF for achieving a BER of 10?5.

  • Outage and BER performances of indoor relay-assisted hybrid RF/VLC systems

    摘要: In this study, the authors analyse the outage performance of the indoor relay-assisted hybrid radio frequency (RF)/visible light communication (VLC) systems. They derive closed-form expressions for the outage probability of the end-to-end signal-to-noise ratio. Then they obtain the optimal approximation parameter with optimising the outage probability using the differential evolution algorithm. Moreover, they analysed the average bit error rate (BER) performance of the hybrid RF/optical system using pulse position modulation method while assuming the timing error in synchronisation. Finally, they present some numerical results utilising the newly derived exact closed-form expressions.
