  • Synergistic Cascade Carrier Extraction via Dual Interfacial Positioning of Ambipolar Black Phosphorene for Higha??Efficiency Perovskite Solar Cells

    摘要: 2D black phosphorene (BP) carries a stellar set of physical properties such as conveniently tunable bandgap and extremely high ambipolar carrier mobility for optoelectronic devices. Herein, the judicious design and positioning of BP with tailored thickness as dual-functional nanomaterials to concurrently enhance carrier extraction at both electron transport layer/perovskite and perovskite/hole transport layer interfaces for high-efficiency and stable perovskite solar cells is reported. The synergy of favorable band energy alignment and concerted cascade interfacial carrier extraction, rendered by concurrent positioning of BP, delivered a progressively enhanced power conversion efficiency of 19.83% from 16.95% (BP-free). Investigation into interfacial engineering further reveals enhanced light absorption and reduced trap density for improved photovoltaic performance with BP incorporation. This work demonstrates the appealing characteristic of rational implementation of BP as dual-functional transport material for a diversity of optoelectronic devices, including photodetectors, sensors, light-emitting diodes, etc.

  • The diverse passivation effects of fullerene derivative on hysteresis behavior for normal and inverted perovskite solar cells

    摘要: [6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) is usually used to passivate the trap states and ion defects for suppressing hysteresis in both normal and inverted perovskite solar cells. Here, we find that the normal cell with the perovskite film fabricated on the PCBM film shows an evident hysteresis, while the inverted cell with the perovskite film covered by the PCBM film shows nearly no hysteresis, and the PCBM-Perovskite interface impacts on the hysteresis vastly. The poor PCBM surface wettability results in an inefficient carrier extraction at the interface and a red-shift of photoluminescence emission for the perovskite film coated on the PCBM film, which results from the plentiful trap states and ion defects inside the perovskite film due to its poor crystallization. Thus, the trapping/de-trapping processes and slow ion migration eventually lead to the hysteresis. For the perovskite film covered by the PCBM film, due to the good wettability of the perovskite film, PCBM molecules easily permeate into the perovskite film to passivate the trap states and ion defects, which improves the carrier extraction and thus eliminates the hysteresis of the inverted cell.

  • Hot carrier extraction in CH <sub/>3</sub> NH <sub/>3</sub> PbI <sub/>3</sub> unveiled by pump-push-probe spectroscopy

    摘要: Halide perovskites are promising materials for development in hot carrier (HC) solar cells, where the excess energy of above-bandgap photons is harvested before being wasted as heat to enhance device efficiency. Presently, HC separation and transfer processes at higher-energy states remain poorly understood. Here, we investigate the excited state dynamics in CH3NH3PbI3 using pump-push-probe spectroscopy. It has its intrinsic advantages for studying these dynamics over conventional transient spectroscopy, albeit complementary to one another. By exploiting the broad excited-state absorption characteristics, our findings reveal the transfer of HCs from these higher-energy states into bathophenanthroline (bphen), an energy selective organic acceptor far above perovskite’s band edges. Complete HC extraction is realized only after overcoming the interfacial barrier formed at the heterojunction, estimated to be between 1.01 and 1.08 eV above bphen’s lowest unoccupied molecular orbital level. The insights gained here are essential for the development of a new class of optoelectronics.

  • All-solution-processed UV-IR broadband trilayer photodetectors with CsPbBr3 colloidal nanocrystals as carriers-extracting layer

    摘要: Colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) are very promising nanomaterials for optoelectronics due to their tunable bandgap and quantum confinement effect. Especially, all-inorganic CsPbX3 (X=Br, Cl and I) perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) have attracted enormous interests owing to their promising and exciting applications in photovoltaic devices. In this paper, all-solution-processed broadband photodetectors ITO/ZnO/CsPbBr3/PbS/Au with high-performance were presented. The role of CsPbBr3 QDs layer as the carriers-extracting layer in the trilayer devices was discussed. As compared with bilayer device ITO/ZnO/PbS/Au, both the dark currents and photocurrents under illumination from UV-IR broadband trilayer photodetector ITO/ZnO(80nm)/PbS(150nm)/CsPbBr3(50nm)/Au are enhanced, but the trilayer photodetector ITO/ZnO(80nm)/CsPbBr3(50nm)/PbS(150nm)/Au showed a maximum specific detectivity (D*) of 1.73×1012 Jones with a responsivity (R) of 5.31 A/W under 6.8 mW/cm2 405 nm illumination. However, another trilayer photodetector ITO/ZnO(80nm)/PbS(150nm)/CsPbBr3(50nm)/Au showed a maximum D* of 8.3×1012 Jones with a R of 35 A/W under 1.6 mW/cm2 980 nm illumination. Further, the underlying mechanism for the enhanced performance of trilayer photodetectors was discussed. Thus, this strategy of all-solution-processed heterojunction configuration paves a facile way for broadband photodetectors with high-performance.

    摘要: Numerical device simulations are a very powerful tool for the development of new types of highly efficient solar cells. The underlying theoretical framework describes many fundamental aspects of the complex flow of light through a photovoltaic device down to the atomic level, such that the most crucial simulation parameters can even be taken from first principles quantum mechanical simulations. But simpler approaches based on the Shockley diode equation are often sufficient to get an initial idea about the performance of a given basic material as part of a novel photovoltaic device. We discuss some of these simplified approaches and illustrate their applications, including the use of data from first principles simulations and/or experimental studies.

  • Excess charge-carrier induced instability of hybrid perovskites

    摘要: Identifying the origin of intrinsic instability for organic–inorganic halide perovskites (OIHPs) is crucial for their application in electronic devices, including solar cells, photodetectors, radiation detectors, and light-emitting diodes, as their efficiencies or sensitivities have already been demonstrated to be competitive with commercial available devices. Here we show that free charges in OIHPs, whether generated by incident light or by current-injection from electrodes, can reduce their stability, while efficient charge extraction effectively stabilizes the perovskite materials. The excess of both holes and electrons reduce the activation energy for ion migration within OIHPs, accelerating the degradation of OIHPs, while the excess holes and electrons facilitate the migration of cations or anions, respectively. OIHP solar cells capable of efficient charge-carrier extraction show improved light stability under regular operation conditions compared to an open-circuit condition where the photo-generated charges are confined in the perovskite layers.
