  • Four-Way Spoof Surface Plasmon Polaritons Splitter/Combiner

    摘要: Corrugated metal with period grooves supports spoof surface plasmons polariton (SSPP) wave in microwave and terahertz ranges. In this letter, a four-way SSPP splitter/combiner with oval-ring periodic structures is presented by using a single connection junction. Up to the authors’ best knowledge, a four-way SSPP splitter/combiner is never reported in the literature. In order to verify the performance of the mentioned SSPP splitter/combiner, we have manufactured and tested the presented SSPP splitter/combiner. The simulation and measurement results demonstrate that the designed conversion between a single coplanar waveguide junction and four SSPP waveguides is high efficiency. The SSPP splitter equally separates the electromagnetic wave into four paths. Hence, the proposed four-way splitter is expected to develop the SSPP active and passive components and relative integrated circuits.

  • Design of Cross-Shaped CPW-Fed Ultrawideband Slot Antenna

    摘要: A new design of ultrawideband (UWB) antenna of coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed is proposed. The antenna is composed of a cross-shaped patch and house-shaped slot with the minimum dimension of 21 mm × 20 mm × 1.6 mm. The analysis of S11, VSWR, radiation pattern and surface current is discussed with HFSS simulation software, and also the effect of parameters is presented. Experimental results show that the bandwidth of the antenna covers 110.67% (3.3—11.6 GHz) of UWB range with return loss better than 10 dB. And the good impedance matching in frequency band confirms the antenna is a good candidate for the application of wireless system.

  • Wide-bandwidth thru-reflect-line calibration for empty substrate-integrated coaxial line with grounded coplanar transitions

    摘要: Empty coaxial structures built with printed circuit boards have low radiation, low losses, high quality factor and non-dispersive features. The full integration of empty substrate-integrated coaxial line (ESICL) in a planar substrate is nowadays a fact thanks to a grounded coplanar transition. To properly characterize and measure this new ESICL family of devices, a low cost and easy to manufacture thru-reflect-line calibration kit is proposed to de-embed not only the connectors and feeding lines, but also the ESICL transitions.

  • 24.4: High Performance Top-gate Self-aligned Coplanar a-IGZO TFTs with Light Shielding Metal Design

    摘要: The TG-SA a-IGZO TFTs with different light shielding metal (SM) layers design were demonstrated and compared in this paper. Their electrical characteristics have been measured in order to systematically analyze the effect that the SMs ever made on. The relationship between device instability and different SMs design have been systematically analyzed. Then the prototype 14” OLED display with an excellent performance using TG-SA a-IGZO TFTs backplane have been made successfully, which indicates an excellent mass-production prospect.

    摘要: In this paper, a novel frequency reconfigurable coupling microstrip patch antenna is presented. A coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed line integrated on the ground plane is adopted in the structure to provide TM21 mode. Four PIN diodes are mounted on the patch gap to achieve frequency reconfiguration. By controlling the on-off state of PIN diodes electronically, resonant frequency points (5.75, 5.84, and 6.06 GHz) can be adjusted. What's more, a wide tunable range is achieved by loading more parasitic patch.

    摘要: The antenna presented in this paper is a broadband circularly polarized U slot antenna. The circularly polarized radiation is achieved in this paper by suspending two separated rectangular strips from the inner edge of ground and using inverted L-shaped central feeding stub. The L-shaped stub is oriented at 90 degree with respect to grounded strips. The impedance bandwidth of the antenna proposed here varies from (4.68 - 6.42 GHz) which is 31.3% and the axial ratio bandwidth (<3 dB) is from (5.15-6.45 GHz) which is 22.4% for WLAN (ranging from 5.15 to 5.85 GHz) and WIMAX (5.8GHz,5.5 GHz) applications. The antenna is left and right hand circularly polarized in Z>0 and Z<0 directions respectively. A wide notch is cut from the ground which enhances the ARBW by 51.35% in comparison to simple square shaped ground. All the results have been simulated successfully.

  • A true-time-delay transmit/receive module for X-band subarray phased arrays

    摘要: This letter presents the implementation of a 6-bit true-time-delay (TTD) transmit/receive (T/R) module in X-band. Improved phase linearity is achieved by using thin film coplanar waveguide transmission lines than traditional microstrip lines or lumped LC components of the most other TTD designs. In order to meet the requirement of the large dynamic temperature range in practice, the hybrid coupler reflective phase shifters with varactor diodes are adopted in long-time-delay units as temperature compensations for thermal phase drift. Experimental results of this TTD T/R module are carried out within a bandwidth of 1.2 GHz at X-band. The gain flatness is better than 1 dB and RMSE of the phase errors is less than 7° in all the transmitting and receiving delay states.

  • An Efficient Clocking Scheme for Quantum-dot Cellular Automata

    摘要: Fast pace growth in the IC industry is facing the challenges of feature size reduction which in turn demands an alternative to current CMOS VLSI. Quantum-dot cellular automata is emerging as one of the viable alternative nanotechnologies with high device density, high operating frequency and low power characteristics. Information transition and propagation in QCA take place with the underlying clocking circuitry. Thus, clocking is the main source of power of the QCA circuit as well as play the vital role of information synchronization in QCA circuit. For efficient design and to provide routing option, a regular, scalable clocking structure becomes the utmost necessity of QCA circuit. In this context, a robust, efficient and scalable (RES) clocking scheme for QCA circuit is proposed which can facilitate three directional information flow within a single clock zone. Also, it can facilitate the feedback path without extra layer (unlike 2DDwave scheme) and overcome the complex multilayer wire crossing (unlike USE scheme) with most promising coplanar crossover. Simulation results underpin the significant improvement in terms of clocking zone, area and cells.

  • Design and analysis of a quad-band substrate-integrated-waveguide cavity backed slot antenna for 5G applications

    摘要: A planar and compact substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity backed antenna and a 2 × 2 multi-input multi-output (MIMO) antenna are presented in this study. The proposed antenna is fed by a grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPW) to SIW type transition and planned to be used for millimeter-wave (mm-wave) fifth generation (5G) wireless communications that operates at 28, 38, 45, and 60 GHz frequency bands. Moreover, the measured impedance bandwidth (|S11| ≤ ? 10 dB) of the antenna covers 27.55 to 29.36, 37.41 to 38.5, 44.14 to 46.19, and 57.57 to 62.32 GHz bands and confirms the quad-band characteristic. Omni-directional radiation characteristics are observed in the far-field radiation pattern measurements of the antenna over the entire operating frequency. The reported antenna is compact in size (9.7 × 13.3 × 0.6 mm3) and the gain values at each resonance frequency are measured as 3.26, 3.28, 3.34, and 4.51 dBi, respectively. Furthermore, the MIMO antenna performance is evaluated in terms of isolation, envelope correlation coefficient and diversity gain.

  • Design and Optimization Methodology of Coplanar Waveguide Test Structures for Dielectric Characterization of Thin Films

    摘要: This paper describes an accurate design method of coplanar waveguide (CPW) test structures on characterizing dielectric properties of thin films with arbitrary thickness. Current CPW measurement method has difficulty in providing accurate dielectric properties of films with extremely small thickness. To address this issue, an optimized algorithm is presented to generate proper geometric parameters of CPW test structures for films with different thickness. To validate the accuracy of the proposed design methodology, various test cases of CPW structures with different dimensions have been designed and implemented, the extracted dielectric properties (e.g., dielectric constant and loss tangent) from the S-parameters of the different test cases are compared to the benchmark results simulated by accurate electromagnetic tool Ansys HFSS. It demonstrates the efficacy of the proposed optimized method on quickly producing correct dimensions of CPW test lines for accurate properties characterization of thin films.
