    摘要: Epipolar Plane Image (EPI) implies some important depth cues for light field depth estimation. Intuitively, the EPI patches with different spatial scales and orientations may exhibit different features and result in different estimation precision. In this paper, we discuss this issue and present a scale and orientation aware EPI-Patch learning model for depth estimation. We take the multi-orientation EPI patches of each pixel as input, and design two types of network structures for adaptive scale selection and orientation fusion. One type is a scale-aware structure, which feeds one orientation patch into a multi-layer feed-forward network with long and short skip connections. The other type is a shared-weight network for fusing the multi-orientation features. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our model by experiments on 4D Light Field Benchmark.

  • Study of NH3 flow duty-ratio in pulsed-flow epitaxial growth of non-polar a-plane Al0.34Ga0.66N films

    摘要: The effects of the modulation in the NH3 flow duty-ratio in a three-way pulsed-flow epitaxial growth process on the structural and optical properties of non-polar a-plane Al0.34Ga0.66N epi-layers were studied intensively. It was revealed that the typical pyramidal defects originated from the anisotropy in growth rate could be evidently reduced with an optimized NH3 flow duty-ratio. In fact, the root-mean-square value determined with atomic force microscope was decreased from 12.8 to 3.1 nm when the NH3 flow duty-ratio was increased from 0 to 0.57. Moreover, the LO-phonon-assisted exciton emission observed in the photoluminescence (PL) spectrum was remarkably suppressed, and the linewidth of the near band edge PL emission peak was decreased by 47%, implying the significantly enhanced optical properties of the non-polar a-plane Al0.34Ga0.66N epi-layer.

  • Depth Estimation for Lytro Images by Adaptive Window Matching on EPI

    摘要: A depth estimation algorithm from plenoptic images is presented. There are two stages to estimate the depth. First is the initial estimation base on the epipolar plane images (EPIs). Second is the re?nement of the estimations. At the initial estimation, adaptive window matching is used to improve the robustness. The size of the matching window is based on the texture description of the sample patch. Based on the texture entropy, a smaller window is used for a ?ne texture. A smooth texture requires a larger window. With the adaptive window size, different reference patches based on various depth are constructed. Then the depth estimation compares the similarity among those patches to ?nd the best matching patch. To improve the initial estimation, a re?nement algorithm based on the Markov Random Field (MRF) optimization is used. An energy function keeps the data similar to the original estimation, and then the data are smoothed by minimizing the second derivative. Depth values should satisfy consistency across multiple views.

  • PEC-GRAPPA reconstruction of simultaneous multislice EPI with slice-dependent 2D Nyquist ghost correction

    摘要: Purpose: To provide simultaneous multislice (SMS) EPI reconstruction with k‐space implementation and robust Nyquist ghost correction. Methods: 2D phase error correction SENSE (PEC‐SENSE) was recently developed for Nyquist ghost correction in SMS EPI reconstruction for which virtual coil simultaneous autocalibration and k-space estimation (VC-SAKE) was used to remove slice‐dependent Nyquist ghosts and intershot 2D phase variations in multi‐shot EPI reference scan. However, masking coil sensitivity maps to exclude background region in PEC‐SENSE and manually selecting slice‐wise target ranks in VC-SAKE are cumbersome procedures in practice. To avoid masking, the concept of PEC‐SENSE is extended to k‐space implementation and termed as PEC‐GRAPPA. Furthermore, a singular value shrinkage scheme is incorporated in VC-SAKE to circumvent the empirical slice‐wise target rank selection. PEC‐GRAPPA was evaluated and compared to PEC‐SENSE with/without masking and 1D linear phase correction GRAPPA. Results: PEC‐GRAPPA robustly reconstructed SMS EPI images from 7T phantom and human brain data, effectively removing the phase error‐induced artifacts. The resulting residual artifact level and temporal SNR were comparable to those by PEC‐SENSE with careful tuning. PEC‐GRAPPA outperformed PEC‐SENSE without masking and 1D linear phase correction GRAPPA. Conclusion: Our proposed PEC‐GRAPPA approach effectively removes the artifacts caused by Nyquist ghosts in SMS EPI without cumbersome tuning. This approach provides a robust and practical implementation of SMS EPI reconstruction in k‐space with slice‐dependent 2D Nyquist ghost correction.

  • Boosting Ge-Epi P-Well Mobility & Crystal Quality with Si or Sn Implantation and Melt Annealing

    摘要: We investigated the effects of Si, Sn and cluster-C implantation into both P-well and N-well doped regions of Ge-epi on Si wafers after laser annealing. XRD analysis shows improved Ge-epi crystallinity after >1.5J/cm2 laser melt annealing (liquid phase epitaxial regrowth) compared to sub-melt annealing (solid phase epitaxial regrowth). For the P-well case the Ge-epi Rs decreased to 1,600?/□ compared to Si at 3,400?/□ suggesting a hole mobility increase of 2.1x from 150cm2/V-s to 315cm2/V-s but actual measured Hall mobility was 650cm2/V-s to a depth of 60nm, an increase of 4.3x. The 1.8J/cm2 laser melt anneal with Si implant improved mobility uniformly to 700cm2/V-s to a depth of 100nm while Sn implant improved mobility to 900cm2/V-s from the Ge-epi surface to a depth of 70nm then increases to 3000cm2/V-s at a depth of 100nm. Measuring mobility depth profiles can be very critical in engineering surface and bulk mobility improvements which can be determined by chemical compositional changes in the Ge-epilayer especially for C where no liquid phase diffusion or movement could be detected.

  • Optimal Imaging Parameters for Readout-segmented EPI of the Temporal Bone

    摘要: Readout-segmented echo planar imaging (rs-EPI) is a form of multi-shot EPI. rs-EPI is affected less by susceptibility artifacts than single-shot EPI (ss-EPI), which is widely used for diffusion-weighted imaging, so rs-EPI is expected to produce less image distortion. In this study, we compared rs-EPI and conventional ss-EPI of the temporal bone region, which contains abundant amounts of air and frequently exhibits changes in magnetic susceptibility. In addition, we used a phantom to determine the optimum rs-EPI acquisition conditions for clinical use and investigated the clinical utility of rs-EPI in 20 patients (8 men, 12 women, mean age, 54.3 ? 16.7-years-old) with cholesteatoma (mean apparent diffusion coef?cient on ss-EPI, 0.88 ? 1013 ? 0.18 mm2/s). The images of the temporal bone region produced using rs-EPI exhibited less distortion than those obtained with ss-EPI (P < 0.05).
