    摘要: This paper presents an improved designed induction motor, used for photovoltaic (PV) array fed water pumping system. The overall system is designed without a mechanical sensor to reduce both cost and complexity with simultaneous assurance of optimum power utilization of a PV array. The proposed system consists of an induction motor operated water pump, controlled by field-oriented control (FOC) with artificial neural network (ANN) current control technique. The MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) as well as DC link voltage, is regulated by three-phase voltage source inverter (VSI). The estimation of motor speed eliminates the use of mechanical sensor and makes the system cheaper and robust. A new robust speed adaptive algorithm is presented, which is less dependent on parameters. A detailed study of various factors affecting the efficiency of the motor, is given to improve the behavior of the induction motor drive (IMD) for water pumping. The designed motor is tested on the developed prototype in the laboratory and its suitability is judged through various results under steady state and dynamic conditions of insolation variations.

  • Adaptive Nonlinear Equalization of a Tunable Bandpass Filter

    摘要: The mitigation of third-order intermodulation distortion produced by a nonlinear tunable bandpass filter (BPF) in a digital receiver channel is demonstrated. An iterative solution is proposed, in the use of the least-mean-square algorithm, as an effective way to allow the correction coefficients to adapt to the changes in the system characteristics when the center frequency is changed. Results are shown using a two-pole, varactor-loaded BPF, and an Analog Devices AD9371 transceiver.

  • Linearization of Photonic Link Based on Phase-Controlled Dual Drive Dual-Parallel Macha??Zehnder Modulator

    摘要: This paper presents analytical analysis for a linearization method of a microwave photonic (MWP) link based on dual-drive dual-parallel Mach–Zehnder Modulator. Electric phase shifters are utilized to suppress intermodulation distortion terms and to further increase linearity of the link. A simulation model is designed to evaluate spurious free dynamic range (SFDR) against third order intermodulation distortion as it is a key performance measurement parameter of MWP link. A suppression of 68 dB is found in intermodulation terms and SFDR enhances by 16 dB which ensures the improvement in performance of link against intermodulation terms.

    摘要: A ?rst proof-of-concept mm-sized implantable device using ultrasonic power transfer and a hybrid bi-directional data communication link is presented. Ultrasonic power transfer enables miniaturization of the implant and operation deep inside the body, while still achieving safe and high power levels (100 W to a few mWs) required for most implant applications. The current implant prototype measures 4 mm 7.8 mm and is comprised of a piezoelectric receiver, an IC designed in 65 nm CMOS process and an off-chip antenna. The IC can support a maximum DC load of 100 W for an incident acoustic intensity that is 5% of the FDA diagnostic limit. This demonstrates the feasibility of providing further higher available DC power, potentially opening up new implant applications. The proposed hybrid bi-directional data link consists of ultrasonic downlink and RF uplink. Falling edge of the ultrasound input is detected as downlink data. The implant transmits an ultra-wideband (UWB) pulse sequence as uplink data, demonstrating capability of implementing an energy-ef?cient M-ary PPM transmitter in the future.

  • RoF system based on phase modulator-employing polarization for linearization

    摘要: In this paper, an analytical model is represented to analyze and improve the performance of radio over fiber (RoF) links against nonlinear distortion. RoF transmission link comprised of a phase modulator, polarizer and optical filter is considered. By controlling angles of polarization, the signals are fed to the modulator. Polarizer helps to suppress intermodulation distortion along the considered link. Performance is found in terms of spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR). Results show an improvement of 7.5-dB in SFDR for a polarized link in comparison with the conventional link.

    摘要: The present paper deals with a speed sensorless technique of vector controlled induction motor drive fed from solar PV (Photovoltaic) array used for water pumping. This sensorless technique is based stator flux oriented in stationary reference frame. The special feature of the proposed topology is the additional feedforward loop added to the existing vector control loop, which makes it decoupled as a key feature of vector control. The mechanical sensorless induction motor drive is powered by solar photovoltaic (SPV) array to be utilized to drive the submersible water pump. The simulation of proposed topology is performed in MATLAB/Simulink environment and its performance is validated on test setup developed in the laboratory.

  • Reduced Current Sensor Based Solar PV Fed Motion Sensorless Induction Motor Drive for Water Pumping

    摘要: This paper proposes a solar photovoltaic (PV) array fed induction motor (IM) drive operated water pumping system with an speed adaptive estimator. It focuses on the implementation of a space vector modulation (SVM) of voltage source inverter (VSI) without current sensors. The motor phase currents are estimated from the DC link current. The VSI is used for maximum power tracking and to drive an IM. A generalized integrator based flux adaptation approach is used to improve the drive performance. Moreover, a modified model reference adaptive system (MRAS) based speed estimation with rotor fluxes and stationary frame currents enhances its stability throughout the operating range. A modified algorithm based on incremental-conductance (InC) is proposed for maximum power point (MPP), which is used for peak power tracking at each insolation with a technique to control flow-rate. The overall system incorporating a single-stage PV powered space vector modulation (SVM) based VSI fed IM driven water pump is modeled and its performance is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink environment. The appropriateness of proposed system is verified experimentally on a prototype developed in the laboratory under various operating conditions.
