COMPUTER-AIDED DECISION SYSTEM FOR REFRACTIVE SURGERIES WITH EXCIMER LASER
摘要: 124 patients (248 eyes) who intended to refractive surgery by Excimer laser were studied to implement our goal of this study which is design and operate a computer-aided decision system for optimal choosing the best refractive surgery based on patient needs, Starting from corneal topography and aberration images, using RGB and HSI color spaces and decision tree. The system also can calculate percent of vision correction, ablation and residual stroma with high precision. This highly important transdisciplinary topic combines aspects from biosystems (human visual system), image acquisition and processing and information management (databases).

摘要: In this paper, we present a new method for detecting in-plane displacements in microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) with an unprecedented sub-?ngstr?m accuracy. We use a curve-fitting method that is commonly employed in spectroscopy to find peak positions in a spectrum. We fit a function to the intensity profile of the image of a silicon beam that was captured with a CCD camera on an optical microscope. The position resolution depends on the amount of pixel noise and on how the moving feature is spread across the detector pixels. The resolution is usually limited by photon shot noise, which can be controlled and lowered in several ways. To demonstrate the technique we measure the adhesion snap-off of two silicon surfaces. We assess the accuracy of the technique using two different silicon MEMS devices and an experimental ultrananocrystalline diamond device. The lowest position noise that we report is obtained by summing 1 577 image lines and is as low as 60 pm [2014-0040] root mean square.

Pipeline Leak Detection Technology Based on Distributed Optical Fiber Acoustic Sensing System
摘要: Low-dose CT (LDCT) images tend to be degraded by excessive mottle noise and steak artifacts. In this paper, we proposed a novel fractional-order differentiation model that can be applied to LDCT image processing as a post-processing technique. The anisotropic diffusion model (proposed by Perona and Malik, i.e., PM model) has good performance in flat regions, total variation (TV) model works better in edge preservation, and fractional-order differentiation models can mitigate block effect while preserving fine details and more structure. The proposed model is based on the weighted combinations of the fractional-order PM model and the fractional-order TV model, which maintains the advantages of PM model, TV model, and fractional-order differentiation models. Moreover, the local intensity variance was added to both weighted coefficient and diffusion coefficient of the proposed model to properly preserve edges and details. A variety of simulated phantom data, including the Shepp–Logan head phantom, the pelvis phantom, and the actual thoracic phantom, were used for experimental validation. The results of numerical simulation and clinical data experiments demonstrate that the proposed approach has a better performance in both noise suppression and detail preservation, when compared with several other existing methods.

ASTROPOP: the ASTROnomical POlarimetry and Photometry Pipeline
摘要: We developed a new pure-Python pipeline to reduce photometric and polarimetric data: ASTROPOP. It has been designed and optimized to work fully automated with the IAGPOL polarimeter of Pico dos Dias Observatory (OPD; Brazil) and can reduce photometry and polarimetry data from other instruments, especially from SPARC4, a multi-channel polarimeter that has been developed for OPD. We present the results produced by this new code, and compare them with those obtained from PCCDPACK, a traditionally used IRAF package developed for IAGPOL. We also propose to use this code for automatic photometric reduction for the new ROBO40 telescope, also installed at OPD. ASTROPOP is fully open source and distributed under the BSD-3 clause license.

Severity analysis of diabetic retinopathy in retinal images using hybrid structure descriptor and modified CNNs
摘要: Imaging which plays a central role in the diagnosis and treatment planning of diabetic retinopathy and severity is an important diagnostic indicator in treatment planning and results assessment. Retinal image classification is an increasing attention among researchers in the field of computer vision, as it plays an important role in disease diagnosis. Computer Aided Diagnosis (CAD) is in wide practice in clinical work for the location and anticipation of different kinds of variations; the automated image classification systems used for such applications must be significantly efficient in terms of accuracy since false detection may lead to fatal results. Another requirement is the high convergence rate which accounts for the practical feasibility of the system. The overall classification accuracy of the proposed HTF with MCNNs is 98.41%, but the existing methods HTF with SVM and HTF with CNNs produce 97.84% and 96.65% respectively.

Adaptive particle representation of fluorescence microscopy images
摘要: Modern microscopes create a data deluge with gigabytes of data generated each second, and terabytes per day. Storing and processing this data is a severe bottleneck, not fully alleviated by data compression. We argue that this is because images are processed as grids of pixels. To address this, we propose a content-adaptive representation of fluorescence microscopy images, the Adaptive Particle Representation (APR). The APR replaces pixels with particles positioned according to image content. The APR overcomes storage bottlenecks, as data compression does, but additionally overcomes memory and processing bottlenecks. Using noisy 3D images, we show that the APR adaptively represents the content of an image while maintaining image quality and that it enables orders of magnitude benefits across a range of image processing tasks. The APR provides a simple and efficient content-aware representation of fluorescence microscopy images.

Automated cell segmentation in FIJI? using the DRAQ5 nuclear dye
摘要: Background: Image segmentation and quantification are essential steps in quantitative cellular analysis. In this work, we present a fast, customizable, and unsupervised cell segmentation method that is based solely on Fiji (is just ImageJ)?, one of the most commonly used open-source software packages for microscopy analysis. In our method, the “leaky” fluorescence from the DNA stain DRAQ5 is used for automated nucleus detection and 2D cell segmentation. Results: Based on an evaluation with HeLa cells compared to human counting, our algorithm reached accuracy levels above 92% and sensitivity levels of 94%. 86% of the evaluated cells were segmented correctly, and the average intersection over union score of detected segmentation frames to manually segmented cells was above 0.83. Using this approach, we quantified changes in the projected cell area, circularity, and aspect ratio of THP-1 cells differentiating from monocytes to macrophages, observing significant cell growth and a transition from circular to elongated form. In a second application, we quantified changes in the projected cell area of CHO cells upon lowering the incubation temperature, a common stimulus to increase protein production in biotechnology applications, and found a stark decrease in cell area. Conclusions: Our method is straightforward and easily applicable using our staining protocol. We believe this method will help other non-image processing specialists use microscopy for quantitative image analysis.

摘要: The problem of images enhancement in automatic mode with an acceptable level of computational costs is considered. The task of adaptive enhancement of integral contrast for complex monochrome images on the basis of their nonlinear statistical non-inertial transformations is considered. The research of the effectiveness of the main histogram-based methods of enhancement of the integral contrast of complex images with low-contrast small-sized objects and non-uniform illumination is carried out. A comparative analysis of the effectiveness of no-reference assessing the generalized contrast of complex images using the histogram-based metrics of integral contrast and on the basis of expert assessments is carried out.

Research on path guidance of logistics transport vehicle based on image recognition and image processing in port area
摘要: Due to the messy logistics goods in the port area, some automatic transport vehicles often have errors in cargo transportation due to large path identification errors. Based on this, this study is based on image recognition technology, taking the most common logistics transport vehicles in the port area as the research object and using video image recognition technology as a guiding technology to perform image recognition processing on the ground guidance path. Simultaneously, this study determined the image preprocessing method which is more favorable for visual navigation, used the morphological knowledge of the image to detect the edge of the path image, then determined the position of the path center line, and carried out simulation analysis. The research shows that the results of this study have certain practicality and can provide theoretical references for subsequent related research.

Biorthogonal Halfband Perfect Reconstruction Filterbank for Multimodal Image Fusion
摘要: To design a wavelet filter bank which helps to detect more prominently continuous changes in tumor cells. In this paper, a method of designing two-channel wavelet base FIR filter bank using factorization of a half band filter is presented. Here factorization is done considering maximum vanishing moments for construction of decomposition as well as reconstruction filters. The 14 order maximally flat halfband filter is proposed with factorization, leading to design of 8/8 orthogonal and 9/7 & 6/10 symmetric filters. The fusion performance of designed wavelet filter bank is evaluated using various performance metrics, like, cross entropy, standard deviation, mean square error and PSNR. The results are compared with the Daubechies filter bank where db4 is used for implementation. It is clear from the results that designed filter bank improves fusion performance. Further, proposed filters have maximum number of vanishing moments which gives smooth scaling and wavelet functions and consequently provides flat frequency response. The designed 8/8 orthogonal wavelet filters are implemented in fusion application for multimodal biomedical images of a subject for detection of an abnormality (cancerous growth). The novelty of this method is the adaptive design of the filterbank for the given multimodal images, so that fused images shall have more clarity, further, it will help to improve the results with enhancement in the entropy levels of fused image.
