Five-Level Transformerless Inverter for Single-Phase Solar Photovoltaic Applications
摘要: Transformerless inverters are extensively employed in grid connected photovoltaic (PV) generation systems due to its advantages of achieving low cost and high efficiency. However, the common mode voltage issues have been motivated the proposition of new topologies, control and modulation schemes. In common-ground PV inverters the grid neutral line is directly connected to the negative pole of the dc bus. Therefore, the parasitic capacitances are bypassed and the leakage current can be eliminated. In this paper a five-level common ground transformerless inverter with reduced output harmonic content for PV systems is proposed. In addition, the proposed inverter can process reactive power and it presents a maximum dc-voltage utilization in opposition to half-bridge based topologies. The operation modes of the proposed inverter, a simple modulation strategy, as well as the design guidelines are analyzed in detail. Finally, experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and good performance of the proposed inverter.

Mission Profile-Oriented Control for Reliability and Lifetime of Photovoltaic Inverters
摘要: With the aim to increase the competitiveness of solar energy, the high reliability of Photovoltaic (PV) inverters is demanded. In PV applications, the inverter reliability and lifetime are strongly affected by the operating condition that is referred to as the mission profile (i.e., solar irradiance and ambient temperature). Since the mission profile of PV systems is location-dependent, the inverter reliability performance and lifetime can vary considerably in practice. That is, from the reliability perspective, PV inverters with the same design metrics (e.g., component selection) may become over- or under-designed under different mission profiles. This will increase the overall system cost, e.g., initial cost for over-designed cases and maintenance cost for under-designed cases, which should be avoided. This paper thus explores the possibility to adapt the control strategies of PV inverters to the corresponding mission profiles. With this, similar reliability targets (e.g., component lifetime) can be achieved even under different mission profiles. Case studies have been carried out on PV systems installed in Denmark and Arizona, where the lifetime and the energy yield are evaluated. The results reveal that the inverter reliability can be improved by selecting a proper control strategy according to the mission profile.

摘要: The four-quadrant operation ability of photovoltaic (PV) inverters makes them promising candidates for reactive power compensation in low voltage systems. In this paper, utilization of PV inverters instead of conventional reactive power compensation units is evaluated. The use of PV inverters for reactive power compensation as well as active power supplying is investigated considering a real life system. The considered system suffers from low capacitive power factor due to the connected online UPS system. The paper firstly analyzes utilization of low voltage PV systems for reactive power compensation purpose technically, and then presents a detailed economic study in terms of short and long-term costs. The costs are evaluated considering reactive demand charge to the customer.

摘要: This paper proposes a new single-phase inverter topology with common-ground for photovoltaic (PV) applications. The proposed inverter has the major features as the same ground between dc input and ac output voltage, voltage buck/boost capability and shoot-through immunity. The theoretical analysis and PWM method for the introduced inverter are discussed. A prototype based on a DSP TMS320F280049C was set up to confirm the performance of the introduced inverter. Simulation and experimental results are shown to validate the theoretical analysis and effectiveness of introduced inverter. The experimental results matched the theoretical analysis and simulation results.

An Integrated Semi-Double Stage based Multilevel Inverter with Voltage Boosting Scheme for Photovoltaic Systems
摘要: This paper proposes a single-phase, seven-level, transformerless inverter, employing a semi-double stage based conversion technique, which is particularly suitable for PV applications. The proposed configuration achieves voltage boosting using a non-isolated interleaved buck-boost converter, which is fused with the inverter configuration through two switched capacitors (SC). The interleaved front-end boost stage is capable of achieving a voltage gain of three while resulting in reduced peak current stress on the switching devices. In this topology, a part of the load power is transferred directly from the PV source, while the other part is transferred through the SCs. The proposed topology and the associated PWM technique are capable of reducing the leakage current by isolating the terminals of the PV source during the freewheeling state. This paper also presents a thorough analysis of the stray capacitor voltage and the common-mode voltage (CMV). These analyses reveal that the high-switching frequency transitions are eliminated in both of these waveforms. Furthermore, the proposed topology results in the reduction of the low-frequency transitions in the stray capacitor voltage and the CMV, which results in further reduction of the leakage current. The simulation and experimental results are in agreement with the mathematical analysis of the proposed inverter.

A New Approach to H-Infinity Control for Grid-Connected Inverters in Photovoltaic Generation Systems
摘要: The present study investigates the stability problem of the grid-connected inverters (GCIs) for possible variations in grid impedance. A new type of H1 control method is proposed for the current control loop of inverters, where the third weighting function is determined using the game theory. The proposed method is applied to the GCI in a photovoltaic system and its response to variations in grid impedance is investigated. Computer simulations conducted for comparison of H1 and PI controller indicate the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm. Simulation results also show that the proposed algorithm significantly outperforms the PI controller under the conditions of varying grid impedance.

Light-Shield Layers Free Photosensitive Inverters Comprising GaN-Drivers and Multi-Layered MoS2-Loads
摘要: Herein, GaN driver FETs with a high energy bandgap are employed in photosensitive inverters to eliminate light-shield layers (LSLs). This configuration exhibits full-swing characteristics of photosensitive inverters comprised of multi-layered MoS2 FETs loads in photosensitive pseudo-depletion mode. The GaN FETs provide both high current drivability and excellent photo-leakage immunity under visible light (Eg~3.1 eV). This allows the photosensitive inverters to be successfully operational without LSLs. The relative degradation (%) of voltage gain for photosensitive inverters with GaN drivers from dark to blue light exposure is improved from 67.7% to 53.0 %, as compared to previously reported MoS2 inverters with LSLs.

Hysteresis-Free Hexagonal Boron Nitride Encapsulated 2D Semiconductor Transistors, NMOS and CMOS Inverters
摘要: Graphene and subsequently discovered layered semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) exhibit numerous exotic physical properties and broad potential device applications. These 2D semiconducting TMDCs have become particularly interesting in next-generation electronic device applications due to their atomic thickness and nonzero bandgap. However, as there is no bulk volume, the 2D nature makes the electronic transport in these crystals highly sensitive to the environmental conditions, such as humidity, adsorbates, and trapped charges in neighboring dielectrics. Due to this environmental sensitivity, 2D-based circuits and devices suffer from a large and undesirable environment-induced hysteresis, which must be eliminated for reliable operation and computation. By mechanically assembling van der Waals (vdWs) heterostructures and edge-contacted graphite electrodes, the 2D semiconducting channel is sealed completely and protected. Here, hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) encapsulated high-performance, hysteresis-free 2D semiconductor transistors, n-type metal-oxide semiconductor, and complementary metal-oxide semiconductor inverters are fabricated. The hBN encapsulation provides excellent protection of semiconducting n-MoS2 and p-WSe2 from environmental factors, resulting in hysteresis-free 2D electronics characteristics that are necessary for the realization of 2D electronics and computing.

摘要: This paper present grid-connected Solar System to energize 3-phase borehole motors, the solar system will be the primary source of energy and the local electricity network will be used as back-up during the day night unfavorable weather conditions (cloudy or rainy days). The design solar energy system will supply the borehole motors with energy harnessed from the sun. The borehole motors that are to be supplied only operate during the day, hence this solution aims to take advantage of this by harnessing energy from the sun to run the motors. The process of converting DC electrical energy into AC electrical energy to be used by the load; will be managed by SMA inverters that will ensure that supply to the motors is as good as the one supplied by the utility grid.

摘要: This paper presents a method for computation of arc flash incident energy in mixed alternating current (AC)/direct current (DC) systems with DC units such as strings, panel cabinets, inverters in Photovoltaic (PV) power plant, as well as on AC side behind the inverters connected to the distribution network. It also gives measures to reduce the risk and consequences of electrical arc flash that may occur due to live work or maintenance on DC and AC part of the PV power plant. By exploiting an advanced smart protection software for coordination of protective devices, this paper shows how we can reduce the risk of these harmful consequences for the personnel working in such power plants. An example case of a PV power plant with rated power of 300 kW is modelled with with its all components and existing protection settings. Then, the power of the electric arc flash will be evaluated using the suggested analytical-simulation-based method according to IEEE 1584 standard, followed by selection of proper protection devices settings for minimum arc power and risk for the staff.
