  • An opsin 5–dopamine pathway mediates light-dependent vascular development in the eye

    摘要: During mouse postnatal eye development, the embryonic hyaloid vascular network regresses from the vitreous as an adaption for high-acuity vision. This process occurs with precisely controlled timing. Here, we show that opsin 5 (OPN5; also known as neuropsin)-dependent retinal light responses regulate vascular development in the postnatal eye. In Opn5-null mice, hyaloid vessels regress precociously. We demonstrate that 380-nm light stimulation via OPN5 and VGAT (the vesicular GABA/glycine transporter) in retinal ganglion cells enhances the activity of inner retinal DAT (also known as SLC6A3; a dopamine reuptake transporter) and thus suppresses vitreal dopamine. In turn, dopamine acts directly on hyaloid vascular endothelial cells to suppress the activity of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2) and promote hyaloid vessel regression. With OPN5 loss of function, the vitreous dopamine level is elevated and results in premature hyaloid regression. These investigations identify violet light as a developmental timing cue that, via an OPN5–dopamine pathway, regulates optic axis clearance in preparation for visual function.

  • Effects of reaction conditions on light-dependent silver nanoparticle biosynthesis mediated by cell extract of green alga Neochloris oleoabundans

    摘要: Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were synthesized by incubating the mixture of AgNO3 solution and whole-cell aqueous extracts (WCAEs) of Neochloris oleoabundans under light conditions. By conducting single-factor and multi-factor optimization, the effects of parameters including AgNO3 concentration, pH, and extraction time were quantitatively evaluated. The optimal conditions in terms of AgNP yield were found to be 0.8 mM AgNO3, pH 5, and 9-h extraction. The AgNPs thus synthesized were quasi-spherical with a mean particle diameter of 16.63 nm and exhibited decent uniformity as well as antibacterial activities, which may facilitate AgNP biosynthesis’s application in the near future.

    摘要: This paper implies and demonstrates a unique Smart Autonomous power and switch controlled Led Street Lighting System for Bangladesh. As we live in the age of globalization where streetlights are very much important for a city infrastructure in the crowded regions, the autonomous power and switching of these streetlights can have a huge impact in our electricity usage and minimize the wastage of electricity. Usually street light is needed at the time of sunset until the sunrise, but during peak hours (time 17:00 pm to 20:00 pm), the electricity demand is higher than electricity supply from the National Grid for many under developing countries including Bangladesh as this is the high time of excessive usage of Home Loads like Television, Air-Cooler etc. Proposed herein is a design and practically implementation of a smart autonomous power and switch controlled street light system by using stored solar energy during peak hours and light dependent resistor based energy efficient automatic Streetlight switching rather than the conventional switching operations. Besides temperature sensor and Real time clock (RTC) are being attached to display the updated time and temperature to the nearby passengers of the vehicles and walkers of the street sides. Thus, proper implementation of the proposed system will be able to be a medium for an energy efficient circuit, national grid’s power scarcity minimizer and free cost of energy and high reliability.

    摘要: This work deals with the estimation of global solar irradiance in an embedded platform through the use of a Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) sensor and its temperature. A prototype is built and has its values compared to the data obtained through a commercial pyranometer. An Multilayer Perceptron neural network is used to provide a non-linear regression between the voltage and temperature signals of the LDR on the commercial sensor irradiance data in a data analysis software. A regression with determination coef?cient of 96.466 % and with mean squared error of 0.04 was obtained. The neural network present in the embedded system has 100% accuracy in relation to the neural network present in the data analysis software used. The minimum response time of the prototype is 13.49 ms and its dissipated power is 27.2 mW, making the approach quite promising. This neural estimation, using simple sensors like the LDR, can help to reduce the cost of renewable energy applications and make it easier to implement.
