  • Factors affecting the intention to adopt light-emitting diode lighting at home

    摘要: This study investigates the significant factors affecting the adoption of light emitting diode lighting among households in Malaysia by conceptualizing and extending the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology through the adaptation of price value and the anticipated emotions of pride and guilt within the model. This study used the partial least squares technique to validate measurements and to test the research hypotheses. The results obtained from analysing 1075 valid survey questionnaires revealed the effects of performance expectancy, effort expectancy and price value on the intention to use light-emitting diodes among Malaysian households. While the results support the mediating role of attitude between the three variables and intention to use light-emitting diodes, the moderating role of anticipated pride on the relationship between attitude and intention to use light-emitting diodes was not supported. The findings confirm that guilt significantly moderates the relationship between attitude and intention.

  • Band engineering of III-nitride-based deep-ultraviolet light-emitting diodes: A review

    摘要: III-nitride deep ultraviolet (DUV) light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are identified as the promising candidate for energy-efficient, environment-friendly and robust UV lighting source in the application of water/air purification, sterilization, and bio-sensing. However, the state-of-art DUV LED performance is far from satisfaction for commercialization owing to its low internal quantum efficiency, large current leakage and efficiency droop at high current injection, etc. Extensive efforts have been devoted to properly designing the band structures of such luminescent devices to enhance their output power. In this review, we summarize the recent progress on various energy band designs and engineering of DUV LEDs, with particular of interest is paid on the various approaches in band engineering of the electron-blocking layer, quantum well, quantum barrier and the implementation of many novel structures such as tunnel junctions, ultrathin quantum heterostructures to enhance their efficiency. Those inspirational approaches pave the way towards the next generation of greener and efficient UV sources for practical applications.

  • Surface-plasmon-enhanced LED based on multilayer gratings and core-shell Ag/SiO <sub/>2</sub> nanoparticles

    摘要: This paper proposes a novel GaN-based LED with nano-grating structure based on surface plasmons. This structure mainly contains n-GaN, multiple quantum wells and p-GaN, Ag–SiO2 grating, core–shell Ag/SiO2 nanoparticle and ITO triangular grating. The basic principle of the light emitting characteristics of LED is described in detail. The COMSOL software is used to analyse properties and optimise parameters based on the ?nite element method. The radiated intensity, absorbed intensity and electric ?eld distribution are obtained. The results indicate that this structure has a higher luminous ef?ciency with the luminous intensity increased to about 58.59 times compared with the ordinary structure and about 3.94 times compared with the reference structure, and can enhance the internal quantum ef?ciency and the external quantum ef?ciency of the LED simultaneously.

  • 585a??nm light-emitting diodes inhibit melanogenesis through upregulating H19/miR-675 axis in LEDs-irradiated keratinocytes by paracrine effect

    摘要: 585 nm light-emitting diodes have been proven to suppress melanogenesis in melanocytes. However, whether LEDs will influence normal human epidermal keratinocytes (NHEKs) and paracrine effect of LEDs-irradiated NHEKs in melanogenesis remains unknown. Objective: To elucidate the possible mechanisms in vitro of anti-melanogenic activity of 585 nm LEDs on paracrine effect of NHEKs and its exosomes. Methods: NHEKs irradiated with different fluences of 585 nm LEDs were evaluated the cell viability by CCK8 assay. Irradiated medium of NHEKs was co-cultured with melanocytes. Melanin content, tyrosinase activity and melanogenic enzymes activities were detected. Exosomes from NHEKs medium were isolated and characterized by electron microscopy and nanoparticle tracking analysis. The expression changes of H19 and its encoded exosomal miR-675 were analyzed. Results: Irradiation with 585 nm LEDs from 0 J/cm2 to 20 J/cm2 had no cytotoxic effect on NHEKs. After co-cultured with irradiated medium of NHEKs, melanin content and tyrosinase activity were reduced and the melanogenic activities were downregulated on both mRNA and protein levels of microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF), tyrosinase (TYR) and tyrosinase-related protein 1 (TRP-1). H19 and its derived exosomal miR-675 from NHEKs, which has been proven relevant to melanogenesis, were significantly upregulated after irradiation. Furthermore, H19 knockdown and miR-675 inhibition in NHEKs could attenuate the inhibition effect of 585 nm LEDs on melanogenesis. Conclusions: This study demonstrated that 585 nm LEDs could inhibit melanogenesis via the up-regulation of H19 and its derived exosomal miR-675 from NHEKs, which was considered as a novel paracrine factor in regulating melanogenesis.

  • Structural isomers of 9-(pyridin-2-yl)-9H-carbazole in combination with 9a?2H-9,3':6a?2,9a?3-tercarbazole and their application to high efficiency solution processed green TADF OLEDs

    摘要: Two host materials, CzPy2TCz and CzPy3TCz, were designed as structural isomers and synthesized to achieve high efficiency thermally activated delayed fluorescence-organic light emitting diodes (TADF-OLEDs). The design strategy involved introducing a pyridine group into the core structure as an electron-withdrawing unit and varying the substitution position of tercarbazole (TCz). To realize green TADF-OLED, the two host materials synthesized in this study have excellent thermal stability and high excited triplet energy (T1 ? 2.95–2.98 eV). The maximum external quantum efficiency and current efficiency values for CzPy2TCz were 23.81% and 80.2 cd/A, respectively and the respective values for CzPy3TCz were 20.27% and 70.1 cd/A, respectively. Structural isomers with carbazole (Cz) and TCz units at the 2,6-position of the pyridine core effectuate better device performance. Consequently, we found that the host materials introduced in this study play an important role in implementing high performing solution-processed green TADF-OLED.

  • High Efficiency Quantum Dot Light-Emitting Diode by Solution Printing of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles

    摘要: Quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) have attracted considerable attention owing to the narrow emission spectra, wide color gamut, high quantum yield and size-controlled emission wavelength. Zinc oxide nanoparticles have been widely used as an electron transport layer (ETL) in QLEDs due to their excellent electrical properties. In this study, we compared the efficiency of QLEDs with organic and zinc oxide ETLs in viewpoint of the charge balance. The QLEDs were constructed using ZnO nanoparticles with an average particle size of 3 nm or 3TPYMB as the ETL materials. CdSe/ZnS quantum dots and poly-TPD were used as a light-emitting elements and hole transporting material, respectively. The QLED with 3TPYMB ETL exhibited current efficiency of 7.71 cd/A, while the efficiency of the QLED using ZnO nanoparticles was significantly improved to 38.76 cd/A. Such a substantial improvement of emission efficiency in the QLEDs with ZnO ETL was attributed to the much better charge balance by the ZnO.

  • Yellow Triazine as an Efficient Photoinitiator for Polymerization and 3D Printing under LEDs

    摘要: The search for new efficient photoinitiators for polymerization under the illumination of visible light is under extensive investigation due to their wide application in 3D printing. 2-(4-Methoxystyryl)-4,6-bis(trichloromethyl)-1,3,5-triazine (yellow triazine, R-Cl) alone or the R-Cl/additive systems have been indicated as promising photoinitiating systems in the free radical polymerization at 405 nm in our previous study. Here, further investigation of R-Cl in the polymerization of a series of difunctional (meth)acrylate monomers is described. The effect of monomers on the polymerization performance is elucidated. The interplay of functional group, double bond concentration, and fluidity determines the polymerization rate and final conversions. Remarkably, R-Cl shows better photoinitiating ability than well-known commercial photoinitiator bisacylphosphine oxide in the polymerization of bis-GMA/TEGDMA blend and EB605 under LED at 400 nm. The optimum concentrations of R-Cl in the photopolymerization of TetEGDA and DPGDA monomers are revealed, the results of which are used to guide the 3D printing of DPGDA.

  • Perovskite Quantum Dot Light‐Emitting Diodes Using Atomic Layer Deposited Al <sub/>2</sub> O <sub/>3</sub> and ZnO Interlayers

    摘要: Green emitting CsPbBr3 Perovskite quantum dot light-emitting diodes (PQD-LEDs) were fabricated in a standard device structure with insertion of atomic layer deposited interlayer. This interlayer enables deposition of solution processed ZnO nanoparticles on top of CsPbBr3 PQDs directly, and successfully passivate PQD surface from polar solvent damages during ZnO spin-casting.

    摘要: A new accurate voltage-programmed pixel circuit for active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) displays is presented. Composed of three TFTs and one storage capacitor, the proposed pixel circuit is implemented both in a-Si and a-IGZO TFT technologies for the same pixel size for fair comparison. The simulation result for the a-Si-based design shows that, during a programming time of 90 s, the pixel circuit was able to compensate for a 3 V threshold voltage ( ) shift of the drive TFT with almost no error. In contrast, the a-IGZO-based pixel circuit, has a larger current error (of around 8%), despite its proven three-fold higher speed.

  • Does the combination of photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) and static magnetic fields (sMF) potentiate the effects of aerobic endurance training and decrease the loss of performance during detraining? A randomised, triple-blinded,??placebo-controlled trial

    摘要: Background: Photobiomodulation (PBMT) is a therapy that uses non-ionising forms of light, including low-level lasers and light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that may be capable of modulating cellular activity. Some biological processes may also interact with static magnetic fields (sMF), leading to modulatory effects on cells. Previous studies have verified that the combination of PBMT and sMF (PBMT/sMF) enhances the performance of individuals during aerobic training programs. The detraining period can cause losses in aerobic capacity. However, there is no evidence of the existence of any recourse that can decrease the effects of detraining. We aimed to investigate the effects of PBMT/sMF application during training and detraining to assess the effectiveness of this treatment in reducing the effects of detraining.
