    摘要: This paper presents the first measurement results of a new Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Radar prototype. It is designed to be operated in a dynamic multi-user environment where the individual sensor’s RF bandwidth is very limited. Here, the radar uses only 30 MHz. The targeted applications are in the field of Urban (Air) Mobility (UAM) with a medium-range coverage up to 250 m. Another requirement is to observe a wide field of view in azimuth of about 100 degree with a high resolution in azimuth. This was implemented by using a 2 x 8 MIMO processing. A 20 ms frame based evaluation of the OFDM symbols allows to obtain a very high velocity resolution of below 1 m/s. This paper explains details about the radar system, the waveform and the processing but the main part of the paper focuses on the evaluation of a dynamic measurement.

    摘要: Multistatic radars are of great interest to achieve an enhancement in the cross range resolution, observing stealth targets in all directions. Current multistatic radars operate independently and heavy synchronization algorithms are required to permit the fusion of the collected data. Recently, photonics has been demonstrated to enable the development of coherent multistatic radars. Here, for the first time, these systems are studied considering the effect of the main system parameters and noise sources. Their capability to provide super-resolution in cross range is confirmed.

  • Fast SL0 algorithm for 3D imaging using bistatic MIMO radar

    摘要: Multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) radar is attractive in moving targets imaging, which is able to solve the difficulty of complex motion compensation. In this article, a three-dimensional imaging method using bistatic MIMO radar is proposed. Compared with monostatic MIMO radar, the bistatic system can provide the complementary information, and the imaging process is not the same as the monostatic case. Furthermore, considering the image sparsity and the spatial limitation of radar targets, a fast smoothed L0 norm algorithm is proposed to achieve the high resolution in cross-range directions with limited antennas. The experimental results demonstrate the validity and efficiency of the proposed method.

    摘要: This paper presents a target localization framework for MIMO radar configurations. The framework uses the Elliptic Curve Intersection (ECI) method for target localization and incorporates a bandwidth synthesis technique to improve the range resolution. Extensive simulations clearly demonstrated the efficacy of the introduced framework. Because the ECI method has the problem of generating ghost targets, as a remedy to this limitation, a solution which utilizes the DOA information has been introduced as well.

    摘要: We investigate orthogonal waveform designs for pulse-based and continuous-wave multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radars. For the pulse-based MIMO option, we study different intra-pulse modulation schemes based on both linear and non-linear frequency modulation (LFM/ NLFM) and establish approximate orthogonality between the transmit antennas by means of frequency shifts and up-/down chirp combinations. For the continuous-wave MIMO option, we study a range-domain technique based on M-sequences and show that the range sidelobe behavior can be signi?cantly improved by employing suitable mismatched ?ltering (MMF) at the receiver.

    摘要: Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar has drawn considerable attention due to its superior performance over phased array radar. The performance is achieved through waveform diversity. In terms of MIMO radar space-time adaptive processing (STAP), it is often assumed that the received signals has already been separated by a bank of matched filters (MFs) or the covariance matrix of the waveforms is an identity matrix. We find that when the non-complete orthogonality of the waveforms is taken into consideration, MIMO radar STAP suffers performance degradation. Besides, inspired by the definition of waveform diversity, a space-time-range adaptive processing (STRAP) scheme is proposed based on the framework of adaptive pulse compression (APC) and the criterion of minimum variance distortionless response (MVDR) to overcome the influence of non-completely orthogonal waveforms by taking into account the interference of nearby range cells to estimate the covariance matrix. The proposed algorithms are assessed via simulation experiments in two scenarios in comparison with sequential processing and the results show the effectiveness of STRAP.

  • Generalised polarimetric whitening filter for polarimetric MIMO radar detection

    摘要: The polarimetric multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar utilises both the polarisation and spatial diversities, thus the generalised likelihood ratio test (GLRT) of the polarimetric MIMO radar exhibits better detection performance than the GLRT of the MIMO radar when the secondary data set is large enough. However, the secondary data set is often not enough in reality. In this instance, the good detection performance of the GLRT of polarimetric MIMO radar cannot be guaranteed any more. In this study, the authors propose three kinds of generalised polarimetric whitening filters (GPWFs) to improve the detection performance of polarimetric MIMO radar in the limited secondary data environment. They first present the signal models and the test statistics for the three GPWFs. Then they analyse the detection performance of the three GPWFs by simulation, and find the second GPWF performs the best. They further compare the detection performance of the second GPWF with those of the GLRT and non-coherent integration (NCI) detector. Simulation results show that the proposed second GPWF outperforms the GLRT and NCI in the limited secondary data environment.
