  • In-situ solid phase thermal transformation of self-assembled melamine phosphotungstates produce efficient visible light photocatalysts

    摘要: Visible-light-driven stacked-layer heterogeneous photocatalyst carbonitride/tungstophosphate (TCN) was constructed via in-situ solid-state thermal transformation using melamine phosphotungstate (MPW). The structural, morphological and optical properties of the samples were investigated. Compared to the MPW hybrids and phosphotungstic acid hydrate, the TCN photocatalysts showed excellent visible light photocatalytic activity. During the thermal transformation, the melamine molecules polymerize to form the defective heptazine structure carbonitride attached to the surface of mixed-valence Keggin units. The interfacial POMs anions-p interactions, ligand-to-metal charge transfer and mix-valence organic-POMs structure makes the electrons fully delocalized over the MPW hybrids, and the TCN photocatalysts obtain the extended light absorption. The Keggin units accept and transfer electrons, so the recombination of photogenerated carriers is suppressed. 13TCN-390 obtains the optimal photocatalytic activity, its photocatalytic degradation efficiency of imidacloprid and rate constant k are 6.38 and 13.50 times than that of CN-390, respectively. The enhanced photocatalytic activity arises from the extended light absorption, suppressed photogenerated carriers’ recombination, surface structure defect and suitable band structure. h+ and (cid:1)OH are the main reactive species when the proposed photocatalytic mechanism was done. This study provides a promising construction strategy for polymer/POMs photocatalysts using different organic-POMs hybrids.

  • Aggregation-induced phosphorescence quenching method for the detection of picric acid based on melamine-passivated Mn-doped ZnS quantum dots

    摘要: Melamine (MA)-passivated Mn-doped ZnS quantum dots (QDs) were synthesized by a hydrothermal method. The MA-passivated QDs can form a charge-transfer complex with picric acid (PA) at 80 °C, thereby quenching the phosphorescence of the QDs. A sensitive method for detecting PA was established based on this principle of phosphorescence quenching. When the PA concentration ranged from 2.0–180 ng mL–1, the concentration was linearly related to the quenching intensity of the QDs, with a detection limit of 1.4 ng mL–1. When applied to detect PA in environmental water samples, the proposed method showed superior analytical performance compared with other PA analysis methods. Furthermore, we verified the static quenching mechanism by density functional theory. MA on the surface of QDs and PA formed a stable structure with a binding energy of 12.43 eV.

  • Preparation of DNA functional phosphorescent quantum dots and application in melamine detection in milk

    摘要: Bio-functionalization of quantum dots (QDs) is of important value in practical applications. With single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) rich in thymine T and thioguanine G taken as the template, a new-type nanocomposite material (ssDNA-PQDs) synthesized from low-toxicity T-ssDNA functionalized Mn–ZnS and room-temperature phosphorescent (RTP) QDs (PQDs) was prepared in this paper by optimizing synthesis conditions, and these ssDNA-PQDs could emit orange RTP signals at 590 nm. As these ssDNA-PQDs are rich in T sequences and T sequences can bond with melamine through the hydrogen-bond interaction, ssDNA-PQDs experience aggregation, thus causing phosphorescent exciton energy transfer (PEET) between ssDNA-PQDs of di?erent particle sizes and their RTP quenching. Based on this principle, an RTP detection method for melamine was established. The linear range and detection limit of the detection method are 0.005–6 mM and 0.0016 mM respectively. As this method is based on the RTP nature of ssDNA-PQDs, it can avoid disturbance from background ?uorescence and scattered light of the biological ?uid, and it is very suitable for melamine detection in the biological ?uid milk.

  • Highly Luminescent Nitrogen-Doped Carbon Dots as “Turn-On” Fluorescence Probe for Selective Detection of Melamine

    摘要: In our work, a new and simple method for selective detection of melamine is established by developing a "turn-on" fluorescence probe based on nitrogen-doped carbon dots (N-CQDs). The N-CQDs have been facilely prepared by one-step simple hydrothermal reaction and it is highly luminescent that with 51% fluorescent quantum yield. In this sensor, the fluorescent intensity of N-CQDs was found to be efficient quenched by Fe3+, upon addition of melamine the fluorescent intensity of N-CQDs-Fe3+ could gradually recover, which may because of the competitive combination of Fe3+ and melamine leading to the departure of Fe3+ from the N-CQDs' surface. Under optimum conditions, the fluorescence intensity has a good liner relationship with melamine in the range of 2.0 to 290 μM. The probe displayed good sensitivity toward melamine with a lower detection limit of 0.67 μM. In addition, this fluorescence probe has been used for the analysis of milk samples, demonstrating the fluorescence probe has potential application in the detection of melamine.

  • Scalable, eco-friendly and ultrafast solar steam generators based on one-step melamine-derived carbon sponges toward water purification

    摘要: Solar steam generation can be a practical and sustainable technology for wastewater purification and seawater desalination. However, both the inefficient utilization of solar energy and high complicity/cost of current solar steam generators hinder the scalable application of this technique. Herein, we demonstrate a facile, scalable and low-cost approach to produce highly-efficient solar steam generator via a one-step calcination of commercial melamine sponges (MS) in air. The in-air calcinated MS (AMS) with thermal insulator achieves an ultrafast solar evaporation rate (1.98 kg m-2 h-1) and a high photothermal efficiency (~92%) under one sun illumination (1 kW m-2), superior to most reported values. This high solar evaporation rate is attributed to the effective heat localization and adequate water supply in AMS, caused by the low bulk thermal conductivity, high porosity and hydrophilicity of AMS, as well as the set-up of a thermal insulator. The AMS is found to be highly efficient and stable, and it can be used to purify various types of waste water, including river water, seawater, and strong acid/alkaline water. Performance analysis of a large-scale prototype device based on the AMS design for field tests promises significant opportunities for highly-efficient, reusable, portable and low-cost water purification systems.

  • Electrochemiluminescence Detection of Melamine with Electropolymerized Poly(sulfosalicylic acid)/Ru(bpy)32+ Modified Electrode

    摘要: In this paper, a PSA/Ru(bpy)3 2+ modified electrode was prepared by electrochemical polymerization and used as the working electrode in ECL detection of melamine. Under the optimal conditions, the sensor shows a wide linear range of 1.0×10-7 ~1.0×10-5 mol/L, detection limit of 2.5×10-8 mol/L with good reproducibility and stability. The method is expected to be a new method for the detection of melamine, which is simple and convenient.

  • Immunochromatographic assay for melamine based on luminescent quantum dot beads as signaling probes

    摘要: To screen and detect the harmful substance melamine (MEL), a quantum-dot-bead-based immunochromatographic assay (QB-ICA) was formulated. After optimization, calibration was performed within the linear range from 0.06 to 0.28 ng mL?1, with limit of detection (LOD) of 0.04 ng mL?1. The LOD was 35 times lower than that of ICA that used colloidal gold nanoparticles (LOD ? 1.4 ng mL?1) and 40 times lower than that of the assay based on quantum dots (LOD ? 1.6 ng mL?1). In the detection of MEL in spiked pure milk using the proposed QB-ICA strategy, the LOD (LOD ? 0.19 ng mL?1) of the samples with the proposed pretreatment was 18.4 times lower than those of the samples without pretreatment (LOD ? 3.5 ng mL?1). The performance and practicability of the proposed QB-ICA system was validated; the obtained results reveal that QB-ICA is comparable with the conventional enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method, but with enhanced applicability. Given its high sensitivity and practicability, the QB-ICA strategy could become a worthwhile alternative for the rapid, sensitive, and quantitative onsite detection of harmful substances, facilitating food safety monitoring.

  • Enhancement of the fluorescence properties of double stranded DNA templated copper nanoparticles

    摘要: The weak fluorescence emission from dsDNA templated copper nanoparticles necessitates the use of high-end detectors like photomultiplier tubes for their detection. This sets limitations on their applicability to in-situ analyte detection and point-of-care applications which utilize comparatively low cost and less sensitive detectors. In this article, a technique to improve the fluorescence properties of copper nanoparticles templated on dsDNA is reported. The fluorescence enhancement is achieved by introducing a modification in the conventional synthesis technique by using a combination of sodium ascorbate and Taq buffer. When compared to the existing methods, the proposed method achieves 11 times higher fluorescence signal intensity from the dsDNA templated copper nanoparticles and 4 times faster attainment of maximum fluorescence signal. The effect of the ionic strength of the individual constituent components of Taq buffer on the fluorescence emission from the copper nanoparticles is also studied here. The utility of this enhancement strategy for analyte measurement is demonstrated with the example of melamine detection from milk samples. A linear relationship was observed between the fluorescence intensity from the copper nanoparticles and the concentration of melamine in the range from 0.5 ppm to 100 ppm (R2 = 0.9919), with a limit of detection of 0.1 ppm. The reported fluorescence enhancement technique also results in 2.95 times improved sensitivity of detection when compared to the conventional technique.

  • Hydrogen Bonds and Molecular Orientations of Supramolecular Structure between Barbituric Acid and Melamine Derivative at the Air/Water Interface Revealed by Heterodyne-Detected Vibrational Sum Frequency Generation Spectroscopy

    摘要: We studied the supramolecular structure between barbituric acid (pyrimidine-2,4,6(1H,3H,5H)-trione, BA) and an amphiphilic melamine derivative at the air/water interface by heterodyne-detected vibrational sum frequency generation (HD-VSFG) spectroscopy. HD-VSFG measurements in situ showed a positive broad band from 2300 to 2950 cm?1. By comparing the experimental results with ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulations, we assigned the broad band to the NH stretching modes of BA strongly hydrogen-bonded to the melamine derivative. In addition, we report in situ HD-VSFG spectra of the interfacial supramolecular structure in the CO stretching region. Two CO stretching bands were identified. On the basis of the signs of the C=O bands, we uniquely determined the orientation of BA. The strong hydrogen bonds and the molecular orientations are direct evidence for the supramolecular structure based on complementary hydrogen bonds at the air/water interface.

  • Quantitative SERS assay on a single chip enabled by electrochemically assisted regeneration: a method for detection of melamine in milk

    摘要: Reusability of sensors is relevant when aiming to decrease variation between measurements, cost and time of analysis. We present an electrochemically assisted surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) platform with the capability to reverse the analyte-surface interaction, without damaging the SERS substrate, allowing for efficient sensor reuse. The platform was used in combination with a sample pre-treatment step, when detecting melamine from milk. We found that the electrochemically enhanced analyte-surface interaction results in significant improvement in detection sensitivity, with detection limits (0.01 ppm in PBS and 0.3 ppm in milk) below the maximum limit allowed in food samples. The reversibility of interaction enabled continuous measurement in aqueous solution and a complete quantitative assay on a single SERS substrate.
