  • Radiative thermal conduction of molten tin sulfide estimated from its optical emission spectrum

    摘要: Molten semi-conductors have potential utility in thermoelectrics or heat-management at high temperature (900 °C and above), though their development requires further analysis of their thermal conduction mechanisms, in particular radiative heat-transfer. Using a container-less method based on the floating zone furnace, the optical emission properties of a pendant droplet of molten tin sulfide (SnS) are investigated in the UV–visible (200–850 nm) and near IR (900–2050 nm) ranges. The emissivity results suggest a low emissivity for molten SnS at the peak of radiation for the temperature range of 890–950 °C. Corresponding estimates of radiative thermal conductivity suggest its minor contribution to the overall thermal conduction of molten SnS.

  • Methylammonium Polyiodides in Perovskite Photovoltaics: From Fundamentals to Applications

    摘要: Discovered in 2017, methylammonium polyiodides were proposed as a facile precursor for synthesis of hybrid perovskites by means of their interaction with metallic lead, which initiated further active exploration of their potential applications. Investigation of their unusual properties such as liquid state, unprecedented phase diversity and high reactivity revealed that methylammonium polyiodides are the first representatives of a new class of compounds—reactive polyhalide melts (RPM). In this review, we summarize the reported data on the unique properties of these compounds, discuss their potential for fabrication of hybrid perovskite films and describe the role of polyhalides in degradation of perovskite solar cells.

    摘要: Reaction of uranyl chloride with gaseous hydrogen was studied in a range of alkali chloride based melts between 350 and 850 oC. The reaction leads to the formation of soluble uranium(V) dioxochloro-species and solid uranium dioxide. In situ electronic absorption spectroscopy was employed to follow the reaction. Electronic absorption spectra of uranium(V) dioxo-species were recorded between 300 and 1600 nm. The effect of temperature and second coordination sphere cations on the absorption spectra is discussed.
