Visible-light-initiated one-pot clean synthesis of nitrone from nitrobenzene and benzyl alcohol over CdS photocatalyst
摘要: The controlled visible-light mediated conversion of nitroaromatics to versatile nitrogen-containing intermediates is of great significance but still remains a challenge. Herein, we report for the first time a facile visible-light-initiated one-pot strategy for clean and efficient synthesis of nitrone from nitrobenzene and benzyl alcohol. It integrates the controlled photocatalytic reduction of nitrobenzene to phenylhydroxylamine by photogenerated electrons with the selective photocatalytic oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde by photoinduced holes over a low-cost CdS photocatalyst with a suitable reduction capability, followed by spontaneous condensation of the as-formed hydroxylamine and aldehyde at ambient pressure and room temperature. Furthermore, by modulating cocatalyst and illumination time, for the conversion of the same reactants, the other two useful nitrogen-containing compounds, imine and secondary amine, were also successfully synthesized. The reaction mechanisms for flexible synthesis of the three target products are proposed.

Nitrogen-doped carbon nanodots prepared from polyethylenimine for fluorometric determination of salivary uric acid
摘要: Stable and low-cost carbon dots (C-dots) were prepared from polyethylenimine (PEI) by a hydrothermal method. It is found that the fluorescence of the C-dots (best measured at excitation/emission wavelengths of 365/473 nm) is quenched by selective oxidation of surface PEI by periodate but recovers in the presence of uric acid (UA). It is assumed that this is due to the selective reduction of the nitrone groups to hydroxylamine groups by UA. The findings were used to design a fluorometric method for determination of UA that has a 2.3 nM detection limit. This is lower than that of reported fluorometric and enzymatic assays. The performance of the method has been validated by determination of UA in samples of human saliva. It is found that the results agree well with those obtained by a commercial UA assay.

Nitrone-Modified Gold Nanoparticles: Synthesis, Characterization, and Their Potential as <sup>18</sup> F-Labeled Positron Emission Tomography Probes via I-SPANC
摘要: A novel bioorthogonal gold nanoparticle (AuNP) template displaying interfacial nitrone functional groups for bioorthogonal interfacial strain-promoted alkyne?nitrone cycloaddition reactions has been synthesized. These nitrone?AuNPs were characterized in detail using 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and a nanoparticle raw formula was calculated. The ability to control the conjugation of molecules of interest at the molecular level onto the nitrone?AuNP template allowed us to create a novel methodology for the synthesis of AuNP-based radiolabeled probes.

Synthesis and Characterization of <i>N</i> , <i>N</i> ′-Bismesityl Phenanthrene-9,10-diimine and Imine–Nitrone
摘要: The sterically bulky compounds N,N′-bismesityl phenanthrene-9,10-diimine [1] and imine?nitrone [2] were synthesized. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of the synthesis of a bulky steric imine?nitrone accessed from the secondary ketimine using urea hydrogen peroxide over methyltrioxorhenium catalyst. Purified compounds were characterized using 1H and 13C NMR, high-resolution mass spectrometry, and infrared spectrometry. We report the first crystal structure of compound 1. Detailed IR bands of compounds 1 and 2 were assigned by comparing experimentally measured spectra to individually animated modes of quantum mechanically computed spectra. We believe these compounds may be of use as bidentate ligands in the synthesis of novel organometallic compounds. The asymmetric N and O coordination sites of compound 2 might impart interesting electronic effects to organometallic compounds compared to the symmetric N,N′-coordination sites of compound 1.
