Polycrystalline diamond films with tailored micro/nanostructure/doping for new large area film-based diamond electronics
摘要: This paper describes processes developed to change two key electrical properties (electrical resistivity and carrier type) of ultrananocrystalline diamond (UNCD) to microcrystalline diamond (MCD) films. The results show that the electrical properties of the investigated polycrystalline diamond films depend on the grain size and plasma treated grain boundary networks interfaces and external films’ surfaces, in which hydrogen, fluorine or nitrogen can be incorporated to tailor electrical carriers-type to tune the electrical properties. Exploring the feasibility of modulating the resistivity of polycrystalline diamond films via tailoring of grain size, surface chemistry and nitrogen or fluorine incorporation into films’ grain boundaries and external surfaces may enable applications of these diamond films as active or heat dissipation layers on micro/nano-electronic devices. This work can open the pathway to enabling an industrial process for new diamond-based electronics, since polycrystalline diamond films can be grown with extreme uniformity on 300 mm diameter Si wafers, used in manufacturing of current Si-based micro/nano-electronic devices.

Transparent tetragonal-cubic zirconia composite ceramics densified by spark plasma sintering and hot isostatic pressing
摘要: Targeting higher toughness transparent ceramics, tetragonal (3 mol % yttria) and cubic (8 mol % yttria) ZrO2 starting powder mixtures were densified by spark plasma sintering (SPS) in vacuum at 1100°C and post hot isostatic pressing (HIP) in argon at 1100°C. The influence of the ultra-fine microstructure and phase composition on the fracture resistance and light transmission in the visible and infra-red range was assessed. Of special interest was the influence of a thermal annealing step in air on the transparency of the SPS and SPS-HIP ceramics.

Plasma Based Synthesis of Nanomaterials for Development of Plasmon Enhanced Infrared Responsive Optoelectronic Device
摘要: We report plasma based fabrication of an optoelectronic device with plasmon enhanced infrared sensitivity realized by integrating plasmonic gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) with an organic semiconductor matrix. A blend of plasma polymerized aniline (PPA)-Rubrene, prepared by a novel plasma based method acts as the semiconductor matrix for charge transport in the device geometry. Significantly improved photovoltaic property of the device with an open circuit voltage (VOC) of 1.08 V is obtained with the addition of Au NPs in the device. We experimentally demonstrate very efficient plasmon generated charge transfer between Au NPs and PPA-Rubrene system leading to significant enhancement of infrared responsivity of 2200% at the plasmon absorption band of Au. This study demonstrates how plasma based processes can be utilized to prepare plasmonic nano-materials and also to synthesize organic semiconductor materials suitable for development of plasmonic charge generating devices responsive to infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum.

A Simple Multi-band Metamaterial Absorber with Combined Polarization Sensitive and Polarization Insensitive Characteristics for Terahertz Applications
摘要: This paper presents a simple multi-band metamaterial absorber for terahertz applications. The unit cell of the proposed structure consists of a single square ring having gaps at the centers on three of its sides. The proposed absorber produces three absorption bands for all polarizations and hence the design can be considered as insensitive to polarization variation. It provides an average absorption of 96.92% for the TE polarization with a peak absorption of 99.44% at 3.87 THz and for the TM polarization, it provides an average absorption of 98.4% with a peak absorption of 99.86% at 3.87 THz. An additional absorption peak is observed for the TE polarization at 1.055 THz that gradually diminishes with the increase in polarization angle and completely vanishes for the TM polarization. Thus, the structure displays a hybrid polarization response with polarization insensitivity in three bands and polarization sensitivity in one band. Parametric analysis has been carried out validating the optimal selection of the design parameters. The simplicity of the design and its combined polarization sensitive and polarization insensitive absorption characteristics can find tremendous applications in the field of terahertz imaging and sensing.

摘要: The technology of bactericidal and sterilizing processing of Koch’s Bacillus on the basis of pulsed electromagnetic ultraviolet (UV) radiation has been proposed. This technology is based on the pulse method of bactericidal processing of objects with low-temperature plasma using pulse sterilizer developed by the authors. The mathematical model of generating broadband pulsed radiation by the source of powerful optical radiation, based on the technique of charged particles accelerator, has been developed. The structure of the electromagnetic radiation source of the high-intensity optical range has been presented. The research of the bactericidal effect of pulsed UV radiation on Koch’s bacillus has been conducted.

Development of Process for Fast Plasma-Chemical Through Etching of Single-Crystal Quartz in SF6/O2 Gas Mixture
摘要: Process for deep plasma-chemical etching of single-crystal quartz plates in a SF6/O2 gas mixture was developed. The method of scienti? c experiment design based on the Taguchi matrix technique was used to rank basic technological parameters (bias voltage applied to the substrate holder, output power of the high-frequency generator, oxygen ? ow rate, and position of the substrate holder relative to the lower edge of the discharge chamber) as regards their in? uence on the etching rate. The ranking results were used to optimize the plasma-chemical etching process and perform a control experiment on through etching of windows with large linear dimensions (3 × 10 mm) in a single-crystal quartz plate (z-cut) with thickness of 369 μm.

Nonvacuum Surfacing of Protective Coatings Using a Low-Energy Electron Beam
摘要: The results of electron-beam surfacing in air of protective coatings by a low-energy (120 keV) electron beam produced by an electron gun with a plasma emitter are presented. The gun is mounted on an industrial robotic manipulator KUKA, which allows the electron beam to be moved to the atmosphere along a given path without electromagnetic sweep. The combined (self-propagating high-temperature synthesis and electron-beam surfacing) method for obtaining coatings from reaction mixtures of TiO2 : 2.1C and TiO2 : 0.3Cr2O3 : 3.3С is implemented using this setup. The optimum composition of the reaction mixtures and the deposition regimes are determined by thermodynamic modeling using the TERRA program. The obtained coatings with a thickness of 120–200 μ m have a microhardness of 12 GPa. The coatings and the transition layer are established to have good heat resistance up to 900°C. Noticeable changes in the weight characteristics of coatings occur at above 1000°C.

Plasma Hydrogenated TiO2/Nickel Foam as an Efficient Bifunctional Electrocatalyst for Overall Water Splitting
摘要: Electrochemical water splitting is one of the most efficient technologies for hydrogen production, and fabrication of low-cost, robust, and high active electrocatalysts to replace the noble metal-based materials is one of the key issues. By using H2 plasma treatment, the TiO2/nickel foam composite is converted to be an efficient bifunctional electrocatalysts towards both hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in the alkaline electrolyte. The investigation reveals the existence of abundant oxygen vacancies of TiO2, which might lead to the dramatic improvement of the electrical conductivity and faster charge transfer rate; also, density function theory (DFT) calculations suggest the oxygen vacancies activate surrounding surface lattice oxygen to induce the favorable reactive-intermediate adsorption energy of TiO2 for hydrogen evolution; and adjusts the strength of the chemical bonds between the TiO2 surface and reactive-intermediates to more favorable values, inducing the lower energy barrier for oxygen evolution. The finding confers a unique function to TiO2 that is different from its widely accepted role as an electrocatalytically inert semiconductor material, suggesting the H2 plasma treated TiO2/nickel foam could be bifunctional electrocatalyst for overall water splitting.

(TiO <sub/>2</sub> ) <sub/>1?x</sub> (TaON) <sub/>x</sub> Solid Solution for Band Engineering of Anatase TiO <sub/>2</sub>
摘要: Band engineering of anatase TiO2 was achieved by means of an anatase (TiO2)1?x(TaON)x (TTON) solid solution. Epitaxial thin films of TTON (0.1 ≤ x ≤ 0.9) were synthesized by nitrogen plasma-assisted pulsed laser deposition on (LaAlO3)0.3(SrAl0.5Ta0.5O3)0.7 substrates. Epitaxial growth of anatase TTON was confirmed by X-ray diffraction. The lattice constants of the TTON thin films increased with TaON content in accordance with Vegard’s law, indicating formation of a complete solid solution. The bandgaps, band alignment, and refractive indices of the TTON thin films were investigated by combination of spectroscopic ellipsometry and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The bandgap of the anatase TTON systematically decreased with increasing x, mainly because of an upward shift in the valence band maximum caused by broadening of the valence band as a result of hybridization of the shallow N 2p orbital. The position of the conduction band minimum was rather insensitive to chemical composition, which makes the band alignment of anatase TTON suitable for photocatalytic water splitting with visible light. The refractive index of anatase TTON monotonically increased with an increase in x.

Spectral interferometry with waveform-dependent relativistic high-order harmonics from plasma surfaces
摘要: The interaction of ultra-intense laser pulses with matter opened the way to generate the shortest light pulses available nowadays in the attosecond regime. Ionized solid surfaces, also called plasma mirrors, are promising tools to enhance the potential of attosecond sources in terms of photon energy, photon number and duration especially at relativistic laser intensities. Although the production of isolated attosecond pulses and the understanding of the underlying interactions represent a fundamental step towards the realization of such sources, these are challenging and have not yet been demonstrated. Here, we present laser-waveform-dependent high-order harmonic radiation in the extreme ultraviolet spectral range supporting well-isolated attosecond pulses, and utilize spectral interferometry to understand its relativistic generation mechanism. This unique interpretation of the measured spectra provides access to unrevealed temporal and spatial properties such as spectral phase difference between attosecond pulses and field-driven plasma surface motion during the process.
