  • Dissipative soliton resonance in a passively mode-locked praseodymium fiber laser

    摘要: Dissipative soliton resonance (DSR) operation in a passively mode-locked praseodymium-doped fluoride fiber laser with a nonlinear optical loop mirror is proposed and demonstrated. A praseodymium-doped fluoride fiber is employed as the gain medium to allow lasing in the 1.3 μm region, and a stable square pulse emission at 1303 nm is observed. The width of the square pulse broadens with the increment of pump power, from 83 ns to 239 ns, whereas the peak power remains at a comparable level. The highest single pulse energy is recorded at around 2.3 nJ without the appearance of pulse breaking, validating the predicted DSR operation. To the best of author’s knowledge, this work is the first study of DSR operation in the 1.3 μm region.

  • Enhanced photoluminescence and ultrahigh temperature sensitivity from NaF flux assisted CaTiO3: Pr3+ red emitting phosphor

    摘要: The Pr3+ doped CaTiO3 red emitting phosphor with enhanced PL and ultrahigh temperature sensing was prepared via NaF flux assisted solid-state reaction. All samples had the orthorhombic perovskite phase and no impurity was found. The typical sample mainly had sphere-like morphology with particle size of ~670 nm. The optical bandgap values were ~3.62-3.63eV. The Pr3+ quenching content was 0.6 mol% and the ET mechanism for quenching was the d-d interaction with the critical distance of 26.09 ?. A certain amount of NaF flux could enhance red emission attributed to 1D2→3H4 transition owing to improving the crystallinity of phosphors and reducing point defects near Pr3+ through the substitution of O2- by F- and Ca2+ by Na+. The energy storage trap (oxygen vacancy) near IVCT state played the key role for trapping electrons, accounting for the LAG emission and the average depth of trap was 0.39 eV. The CIE chromaticity coordinates were very close to that of the ideal red light and the CP was as high as 99.98%. The maximal Sa and Sr was as high as ~0.015 K-1 and~ 5.2% K-1, respectively. The thermal induced relaxation between the 3Pj levels and 1D2 level through the IVCT state was supposed to account for the excellent optical temperature sensing. Our work may provide a useful inspiration for developing ultrahigh sensitive optical temperature sensors.

  • Structural, optical and magnetic elucidation of co-doped of Nd+3 and Pr+3 on lithium nanoferrites and its technological application

    摘要: LiNiCo spinel ferrites were prepared, by doping with rare earth metals Nd and Pr, according to micro-emulsion method. In order to study the effect of Nd and Pr, the crystal structure and magnetic properties of prepared ferrites were scrutinized in detail. The endorsement of single-phase spinel ferrites with the co-occurrence of orthophase was confirmed by XRD and FTIR. The average crystallite size varied with increasing the doped concentration of Nd and Pr, which is in the range from 28nm to 70nm. Magnetic properties were analyzed by VSM within range of -10000Oe and 10000Oe. MS and MR values decreased with the increase in concentration. The value of HC, MR, and MS showed stability for transformer core where electromagnetic interference is reduced. Hence synthesized ferrites LiNi0.35-yCo0.15PryNdxFe2-xO4 are suitable for transformers and induction.

  • Trap-assisted enhanced bias illumination stability of oxide thin film transistor by praseodymium doping

    摘要: Praseodymium-doped indium zinc oxide (PrIZO) have been employed as the channel layer of thin film transistors (TFTs). The TFTs with Pr doping exhibited a remarkable suppression of the light induced instability. A negligible photo-response and remarkable enhancement in negative gate bias stress under illumination (NBIS) were achieved in the PrIZO-TFTs. Meanwhile, the PrIZO-TFTs showed reasonable characteristics with a high field effect mobility of 26.3 cm2/Vs, SS value of 0.28 V/decade, and Ion/Ioff ratio of 108. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), microwave photoconductivity decay (Micro-PCD) and photoluminescence spectra (PL) were employed to analyze the effects of the Pr concentrations on the performance of PrIZO-TFTs. We disclosed that acceptor-like trap states induced by Pr ions might lead to the suppression of photo-induced carrier in conduction band, which is a new strategy for improving illumination stability of amorphous oxide semiconductors. Finally, a prototype of fully transparent AMOLED display was successfully fabricated to demonstrate the potential of Pr-doping TFTs applied in transparent devices.

  • Electrical Properties and Thermal Expansion Characteristics of (1- <i>x</i> )Ba <sub/>0.948</sub> Ca <sub/>0.05</sub> Er <sub/>0.002</sub> Ti <sub/>0.94</sub> Zr <sub/>0.06</sub> O <sub/>3</sub> -( <i>x</i> )Pr Lead-Free Piezoelectric Ceramics Sintered at a Low-Temperature

    摘要: (1 (cid:1) x)Ba0.948Ca0.05Er0.002Ti0.94Zr0.06O3–(x)Pr (x ? 0–0.75 mol%) ceramics are sintered at 1240 (cid:3)C by conventional solid-state reaction method using the as-synthesized nanoparticles, which are prepared by a modified Pechini method. The structural, morphological, electrical, and thermal expansion properties as a function of varying x are systematically investigated. All samples feature rhombohedral phase, and their lattice parameters are accurately calculated by Rietveld refinement software. Volume of oxygen vacancies initially decreases and then increases with increasing x, leading to diversified electrical properties. Deteriorated electrical properties of the ceramics with excessive x are attributed to the increment of defect complexes with a large volume of oxygen vacancies. The coefficient of thermal expansion values of the ceramics that is influenced by phase evolution and structure defects under different temperature ranges are studied. The respective optimal electrical properties, that is, d33 ? 186 pC N mol%. This research is believed to be insightful to practical application of the lead-free multifunctional electron components.

  • Generation of sub-nanosecond pulse in dual-wavelength praseodymium fluoride fibre laser

    摘要: In this paper, we demonstrate a stable dual-wavelength pulsed output from a praseodymium doped fluoride fiber laser. These dual functions are induced by intensity-dependent transmission and loss due to the cavity birefringence. The two lasing wavelengths centered at 1298.26 nm and 1299.91 nm with a spacing of 1.65 nm and a 3 dB bandwidth of 0.11 nm and 0.13 nm respectively are obtained. The pulse width induced by the dual-wavelength laser falls within the picosecond region, with a repetition rate of 389 KHz and a maximum average pulse energy of 5.4 nJ.

  • Optically Modulated Tunable O-Band Praseodymium-Doped Fluoride Fiber Laser Utilizing Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotube Saturable Absorber <sup>*</sup>

    摘要: A tunable and optically modulated fiber laser utilizing a multi-walled carbon nanotube based saturable absorber is demonstrated for operation in the O-band region. A praseodymium-doped fluoride fiber is used as the gain medium and the system is capable of generating modulated outputs at 1300 nm. Pulsed output is observed at pump powers of 511 mW and above, with repetition rates and pulse widths that can be tuned from 41 kHz and 3.4 ??s to 48 kHz and 2.4 ??s, respectively, at the maximum pump power available. A maximum average output power of 100 ??W with a corresponding single pulse energy of 2.1 nJ is measured, while the tunability of the proposed laser is from 1290 nm to 1308 nm. The output is stable, with peak power fluctuations of ~4 dB from the average value.

  • Pr3+-Doped Strontium–Aluminum–Bismuth–Borate Glasses for Laser Applications

    摘要: The chemical composition of Pr3+-doped strontium–aluminum–bismuth–borate glasses with different concentrations, that is, (50 – x)B2O3 + 20Bi2O3 + 7AlF3 + 8SrO + 15SrF2 + xPr2(CO3)3 (where x = 0.1, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 mol.%), have been prepared by the melt quenching technique. XRD, SEM, and EDS studies reveal the structural and amorphous properties of the prepared glasses. Different borate groups are analyzed by FTIR measurements. Judd–Ofelt (J–O) intensity parameters, Ωλ (λ = 2, 4, and 6) are calculated from the absorption spectrum to identify the nature of Pr3+ ions with their surrounding ligands. Using the J–O parameters, the radiative properties such as radiative transition probabilities AR and radiative lifetimes τcal are evaluated for various excited transitions of Pr3+ ions. Stimulated emission cross sections σpE and branching ratios βR for the emission transitions are evaluated by the photoluminescence spectra. The higher values of σpE and βR are identified for the emission transitions 3P0 → 3H4 and 1D2 → 3H4 of SABiBPr15 and SABiBPr01 glasses; these glasses are suitable for light emitting materials. The chromaticity color coordinates are calculated to find the average color of the emission spectra.

  • Optical and luminescent properties of Pr-doped Li2O MgO Al2O3SiO2 glasses

    摘要: A high conversion e?ciency is a key factor for phosphor applications. Because the number of studies on the 5d–4f emissions of Pr3+ in oxide glasses has been limited, it is worth examining the relationship between the luminescence properties of Pr3+ and the chemical composition of the glass. Herein, we demonstrate the luminescence properties of Pr3+-doped aluminosilicate glasses. Although the internal quantum e?ciency is not as high as that of conventional Ce3+-doped glasses, a faster decay (on the order of nanoseconds) is attractive for many di?erent applications. An emissions band can be observed under X-ray irradiation, which di?ers signi?cantly from photoluminescence. Although the Pr3+–P-codoped samples exhibit higher quantum e?ciency than P-free glass owing to a blue shift of the optical absorption edge, the e?ect of P doping was not observed during X-ray induced scintillation or in the pulse height spectra under 252Cf irradiation.

  • Luminescence and cathodoluminescence properties of MIPr(PO3)4 (MI=Na, Li, K) and PrP5O14

    摘要: Poly-crystals of praseodymium phosphate MIPr(PO3)4 (MI=Na, Li, K) and PrP5O14 have been synthesized by the flux method. All of these hosts crystallized in the monoclinic structures with different space groups. The spectroscopic properties of trivalent praseodymium ions in these compounds have been characterized. The emission spectra under laser excitation at 488 nm show several characteristic emission bands of Pr3+ resulting from intra-configurational transitions between 3P0 and 4f2 lower lying levels. All the studied compounds exhibit two strong parity-allowed 4f15d1→4f2 emission bands located in the near ultraviolet domain using electrons as source for optical excitation. Therefore, these materials are of interest for applications in lighting and scintillating applications.
