  • Influence of pore size of Ti substrate on structural and capacitive properties of Ti/boron doped diamond electrode

    摘要: This work is aimed at understanding the influence of pore size of titanium (Ti) substrate on the capacitive properties of boron doped diamond (BDD) electrode. BDD films were deposited on Ti substrates with five different pore sizes - 2.5, 5.0, 20.0, 30.0, 50.0 mm - using hot filament chemical vapor deposition (HFCVD). The pore size of substrate was found to cause significant variations in surface structure and capacitive properties of the Ti/BDD electrodes. The optimum pore size that resulted in best surface structure and capacitive properties was found to be 30.0 mm. The Ti30.0/BDD electrode was found to possess higher sp2-C bonds content, sp3-C bond with doped boron atom, more closely interlaced grains and bigger specific surface area than other electrodes. The maximum capacitance obtained for Ti30.0/BDD electrode was 53.3 mF cm-2, with minimum impedance value Rct of 4.8 U. The minimum capacitance of 1.07 mF cm-2 was obtained for the Ti50/BDD electrode, and the maximum impedance value Rct of 290 U was obtained by the Ti20.0/BDD electrode. Furthermore, the Ti30/BDD electrode possessed a favorable electrochemical stability of capacitance retention of 89.3% after 2070 cycles. A mechanism by which pore size affects the capacitance properties of the Ti/BDD electrode is proposed and discussed in this paper.

  • Design and preparation of centrifugal microfluidic chip integrated with SERS detection for rapid diagnostics

    摘要: A microfluidic SERS chip integrated with blood separation and in-situ detection was designed and fabricated for the rapid detection of clinical blood samples. Each functional unit in the microfluidic SERS chip consist of separation-decantation cavity based on centrifugal separation principle, mixing channels and SERS detection chamber built with integrated nano-Au on Ag film microstructure. The serum creatinine was selected as a typical sample to demonstrate the capability of microfluidic SERS chip. It was found that the creatinine SERS characteristic peaks at 678 cm-1 can be effectively identified and the detection limit could be as low as 4.42 × 10-3 μmol mL-1 in water. The blood samples were also tested in microfluidic SERS chip. The whole separation and test process could be completed within 2 min, which is a significant improvement in the field of creatinine detection. The whole blood of six cases clinical blood samples were also tested, and the results were consistent with the enzymatic results. The developed microfluidic SERS chip has advantages including reduction of the required quantity of blood sample, reusable and easy to operate. It is expected to provide a new method for rapid diagnostics.

  • Multibeam Monopulse SIW Slot Array Antenna

    摘要: A multibeam slot array antenna is proposed in the 10-GHz band for a monopulse tracking system with resolution enhancement techniques. The antenna architecture combines a four-subarray SIW slot antenna, a multibeam-forming network of microstrip Rotman lens array, and a SIW comparator of four-quadrant monopulse technique. A method to form difference patterns in both E-plane and H-plane for mutibeams is presented, and the method can improve the accuracy of angle detection for all beams. The key point of the method is to compensate the phase difference caused by the beam deflection between two subarrays (quadrants) by constraining input delay lines of the Rotman lens array. To validate the proposed concepts, an antenna prototype is realized and measured. The experimental results demonstrate a scanning range of ±36° with -5 dB crossover level between two adjacent sum beams in the E-plane. The corresponding beams of difference pattern are generated in E-plane and H-plane via the monopulse comparator to enhance angle resolution. The multibeam monopulse system can achieve gains between 21.7 dBi and 23.5 dBi for all sum beams at the center frequency of 10 GHz. The lobe imbalances are less than 1.1 dB and null depths are lower than -16 dB for all difference patterns. This multibeam monopulse slot antenna can be applied in radar and communication systems requiring beam-scanning capabilities and target tracking.

    摘要: Inkjet printing (IJP) is an exciting new additive manufacturing technology that promises monolithic electronic circuit fabrication of μm thin low-cost large-area electronic low-cost body-worn flexible sensors. In this work, we demonstrate inkjet printed multilayer metal-dielectric-metal capacitors on flexible polyimide (PI) substrate by formulating a custom dielectric ink based on Poly 4-vinylphenol (PVP). Silver nanoparticle ink was used for printing the conductive parallel metal plates. We also demonstrate control over the capacitance values by varying the design parameters and succeeded in printing capacitors in the range 8.8 pF to 467 pF, with excellent repeatability on flexible PI substrates. A functional LC circuit using these printed capacitors has been designed and demonstrated to have a resonance frequency of 24.3 MHz. These results are a vital step forward towards monolithic printing of flexible electronic circuits using IJP technique for many applications such as body-worn sensors.

  • Insights into the Role of Plasma in Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition of Titanium Dioxide Thin Films

    摘要: In this work, the effect of plasma on the chemistry and morphology of coatings deposited by Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (AP-PECVD) is investigated. To do so, plasma deposited amorphous titanium dioxide (TiO2) thin films are compared to thin films deposited using Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition (AP-CVD) not involving the use of plasma. We focus here on the effect and the interest of plasma in the AP-PECVD process over AP-CVD for low substrate temperature deposition. The advantages of AP-PECVD over AP-CVD are often suggested in many articles however no direct evidence of the role of the plasma for TiO2 deposition at atmospheric pressure was reported. Hence, herein, the deposition via both methods is directly compared by depositing coatings with and without plasma using the same CVD reactor. Through the control of the plasma parameters, we are able to form low carbon coatings at low temperature with a deposition rate twice faster than AP-CVD, clearly showing the interest of plasma. Plasma enhanced methods are promising for the deposition of coatings at industrial scale over large surface and at high rate.

  • DESIGN AND REALIZATION OF CIRCULAR POLARIZED SIW SLOT ARRAY ANTENNA FOR CUBESAT INTERSATELLITE LINKS

    摘要: This paper presents the design and fabrication of an antenna based on Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW) for intersatellite crosslinks in C-band. The entire antenna consists of two elements of SIW slots array that is fed by a hybrid 3 dB directional coupler. The entire SIW slots array antenna is circularly polarized (CP), and each element has four longitudinal slots. The element’s e?ective ?eld matching is realized with a microstrip to SIW transition. The antenna design has been evaluated with its return loss, gain plot, and radiation pattern characteristics to validate the fabricated antenna. The fabricated prototype antenna radiates a left-handed circularly polarized (LHCP) electromagnetic wave with the peak gain of 5 dB and o?ers approximately 2% AR bandwidth around 5 GHz.

  • A 1a??toa?? <i>n</i> way singlea??endeda??toa??balanced substrate integrated waveguide filtering power splitter

    摘要: An approach to 1-to-n (n = 3, 4…) way single-ended-to-balanced filtering power splitter (SETBFPS) is proposed. The properly placed balanced ports with 0.5λg (λg is the substrate integrated waveguide [SIW] guided wavelength at f0) space make the TE32nd 103 and TE32nd 105 modes of n 32nd-mode SIW multimode resonators form differential-mode (DM) passband of the SETBFPS. Compared with the state-of-art single-ended-to-balanced power splitters, the proposed approach has all the functions of 1-to-n way, filtering, and common-mode (CM) suppression. A 1-to-3 way prototype is exemplified at 3.5 GHz with the minimum insertion loss (IL) of 0.09 dB, a fractional bandwidth (FBW) for a 15-dB return loss of 35%, and a FBW for 15-dB CM suppression of 52%. Low IL and wide bandwidth can be observed.

  • Examination of relationship between Urbach energy and open-circuit voltage deficit of flexible Cu(In,Ga)Se <sub/>2</sub> solar cell for its improved photovoltaic performance

    摘要: Flexible Cu(In,Ga)Se2 (CIGSe) solar cells on stainless steel (SUS) substrates are developed. The contribution concentrates on the investigation of the correlation between Urbach energy (EU) and open-circuit voltage deficit (VOC,def). The several CIGSe solar cells on soda-lime glass and SUS substrates with various VOC,def values are fabricated through the variations of [Ga]/([Ga]+[In]) ratio (GGI), substrate temperature (TSUB) and Fe concentration of their CIGSe absorbers. The EU is determined based on external quantum efficiency in the long-wavelength edge. It is determined that the EU is influenced by the GGI, TSUB and Fe concentration. The EU is well consistent with the carrier lifetimes and can be an indicator of the CIGSe quality. In addition, the relationship between EU and VOC,def is obviously observed, where the decrease in the EU by 1 meV reduces the VOC,def by 8.6 mV. Through the optimizations of GGI and TSUB as well as the minimization of Fe concentration, the EU is obviously reduced, which implies the improvement of the CIGSe quality. Ultimately, the high η of 17.9% for the flexible CIGSe solar cell on SUS substrate is attained.

  • Controlled deposition of size-selected metal nanoclusters on prepatterned substrate

    摘要: An endeavor of organizing Cu nano-particles of controlled size in ordered arrays at room temperature is reported. This involves the guided deposition of size-selected nanoparticles otherwise known as nanoclusters via periodic modulation of the substrate surface. Ultra-high vacuum compatible magnetron-based gas-aggregation type source combined with a quadrupole mass filter has been employed to produce the size-selected nanoclusters whereas the surface modulations (ripples) in the nanoscale are induced by low energy oblique angle ion beam irradiation. Morphological aspects of deposited nanoclusters and the substrates were characterized by high-resolution scanning electron microscopy (HRSEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The chemical composition of the deposited nanoclusters was characterized by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The alignment of size-selected metal nanoclusters along the substrate-patterns is observed. Depending upon deposition conditions quality of the organization varies. The optimum angle of deposition for the improved alignment depends on the pattern parameters of the substrate.

  • Development of a Flexible Tunable and Compact Microstrip Antenna via Laser Assisted Patterning of Copper Film

    摘要: Design and rapid prototyping of a tunable and compact industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band microstrip antenna for applications is presented in this paper. Laser machining is introduced as a fast and accurate method for the antenna fabrication. The antenna, with an overall dimension of 65 × 46 × 0.127 mm, was fabricated by sandwiching a flexible Kapton polyimide substrate, with a dielectric constant of 3.5, between two flexible copper tapes, as the radiating patch and ground plane, respectively. The radiating patch was patterned in a meander configuration, with three slots, demonstrating the capability to reduce the resonant frequency of the microstrip antenna from 2.4 GHz to 900 MHz, without increasing the overall size of the antenna (87% compact). The effect of mechanical stress on the antenna performance was investigated by performing bend and stretch tests. The antenna was subjected to compressive bend with a minimum radius of curvature of 86 mm and 150 mm along the x- axis and y- axis which resulted in a maximum increase of resonant frequency by 3.1% and 1.3%, respectively. Similarly, the antenna was subjected to tensile bend with a minimum radius of curvature of 79 mm and 162 mm along the x- axis and y- axis which resulted in a maximum decrease of the resonant frequency by 4.2% and 0.3%, respectively. An overall 0.9% decrease in the resonant frequency was measured for an applied strain of 0.09% during stretching the antenna along the y- axis.
