  • Impact of molarity on structural, optical, morphological and electrical properties of copper oxide thin films prepared by cost effective jet nebulizer spray pyrolysis technique

    摘要: Copper oxide (CuO) thin films were prepared by simple and cost effective jet nebulizer spray pyrolysis method with different molar concentration 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3 M named as J1, J2 and J3 respectively. The impact of molarity on structural, optical, morphological and electrical of properties of CuO thin film was studied. The structural studies confirmed that the prepared CuO thin films are monoclinic crystal structure matching with standard JCPDS card No. 89-5899. The thickness of CuO thin films determined by surface profilometer found to be increasing while increasing molar concentration. The optical energy band gaps were determined using Kulbelka–Munk (K–M) method are found to be 2.1 eV, 1.9 eV and 1.8 eV for J1, J2 and J3 respectively. The morphological properties and chemical composition of CuO thin film were investigated via field-emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and energy dispersive analysis from X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX). According to FESEM all the prepared CuO thin films are well covered and adhered to the substrate with good homogeneity and EDAX spectra confirms the presence of copper (Cu) and oxygen (O). The adhesion strength has been determined in accordance with test method D3330 using scotch tape test. The electrical conductivity of CuO thin films were investigated. The maximum conductivity value of the CuO thin film is observed 2.75 × 10?8 S/cm.

  • Flame spray pyrolysis synthesized gold-loaded titanium dioxide photocatalyst for degradation of Rhodamine B

    摘要: Gold-loaded titanium dioxide (Au-loaded TiO2) was synthesized by the flame spray pyrolysis method for using as photocatalyst. The synthesized Au-loaded TiO2 photocatalyst was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) dye solution over synthesized Au-loaded TiO2 was studied. The concentration of RhB was determined by UV–Vis spectrophotometry. For the photocatalytic activity, it was found that Au(1.00 mol%)-loaded TiO2 was a better photocatalyst than others under the same reaction conditions. The optimal conditions for photocatalytic degradation of RhB were found to be 0.6 g/L of photocatalyst concentration under UV light irradiation (UV–C 254 nm). The highest kinetic rate constant of photocatalyst was 0.0057 min?1 at the optimum conditions and the mechanism of the photocatalytic process had also been discussed.

  • Effect of Aluminium doping on photoluminescence and third-order nonlinear optical properties of nanostructured CdS thin films for photonic device applications

    摘要: The work presented here reports the influence of Aluminium (Al) doping on CdS thin films for the structural, morphological, optical and third-order nonlinear optical (NLO) properties. Thin films of Pure CdS and Al-doped CdS (Cd1-xAlxS) with x= 0, 0.01, 0.05 and 0.1 are prepared on the glass substrate at 350oC using the spray pyrolysis technique. The observed X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) patterns of CdS films are found to a polycrystalline hexagonal structure and are not much affected by Al doping. Also the films have been examined by Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) images. The transmittance of the CdS films is observed to be 50 to 60% in the visible region and that decreased at higher doping concentrations and with higher Al doping the direct optical band gap is decreased from 2.52 to 2.38 eV. To understand the defect states characteristics, the corresponding room-temperaturephotoluminescence (RTPL) spectra have also been taken and found the nonlinear behavior in a band to band-edge emission in the prepared samples upon Al incorporation. The sign and the magnitude of the third-order NLO properties were determined using the Z-scan technique with a continuous wave laser as the excitation source. It is observed that the material exhibit strong two-photon absorption (2PA) with the nonlinear absorption (NLA) coefficient (β) in the range of 10-4 cmW-1 and nonlinear refractive index (NRI) n2 ~10-9 cm2W-1. The third-order NLO susceptibility has found to be enhanced from 3.12 x10-5 esu to 6.36 x10-5 esu upon Al incorporation. Optical limiting characteristics of the prepared films are studied at the experimental wavelength. The results suggest that the Cd1-xAlxS is a promising material for nonlinear optical devices at 532 nm and optical power limiting applications.

  • Methodology and fabrication of adherent and crack-free SU-8 photoresist-derived carbon MEMS on fused silica transparent substrates

    摘要: We present a methodology for the fabrication of photopatterned carbon films based on SU-8 deposited on transparent fused silica substrates. Specifically, we developed and implemented this methodology for carbon microstructure fabrication derived from SU-8 2035 and SU-8 3035. It was found that SU-8 3035 derived carbon microstructures were crack free and adhered well to the substrate, while SU-8 2035 resulted in fractured and detached carbon microstructures. In addition, we characterized the produced SU-8 3035 derived carbon by measuring its electrical resistivity (1.412 ± 0.011 m? m), inter-structure electrical resistance, contact angle (35.7° ± 6.0°), Raman spectrum and adhesion strength to the substrate. In brief, even though SU-8 2035 and SU-8 3035 are useful materials for C-MEMS fabrication, we found that SU-8 3035 is more suitable for the fabrication of crack free and adherent carbon microstructures on transparent fused silica substrates.

    摘要: Two heterojunctions based on Cu2ZnSnS4 were obtained as thin films, on FTO glass, by spray pyrolysis deposition. The choice of the n-type layer (TiO2 or ZnO) has impacted the nucleation and growth of the CZTS layers deposited on top. Crystalline thin films were obtained with drastically different morphologies. Small spherical grains promoted a better match at the interface between TiO2 and CZTS, while the hexagonal plates of ZnO promoted discontinuations. Both junctions proved photosensitive and gave good rectifying behavior but efficiencies charge than recombination at the interface or in the CZTS layer. suggest 0.01% lower

  • Growth and Structural Properties of Graphene Oxide Thin Film with Spray Pyrolysis Technique

    摘要: The spray pyrolysis technique (SPT) is one of the most useful and simple methods to grow graphene oxide (GO) thin film. Good-quality GO thin films were fabricated by spray coating with GO powder (prepared by the modified Hummers method) on glass substrates. Raman spectroscopy, Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, and UV–visible spectroscopy were done to observe the presence of functional groups in the growth thin films and to determine the structure of GO. From the result of XRD test, the GO demonstrates peak at 10.58°(2θ), while the Raman spectroscopy reveals the presence of two prominent peaks, known as D and G bands, as well as 2D band. The ID/IG ratio for spray-deposited GO film was calculated with the value of 0.84. FESEM images showed that the glass substrates were completely covered by GO at different magnifications with a sheet-like structure. The optical absorption of graphene oxide was also observed at a wavelength rang of 275-350 nm.

  • Synthesis and characterization of carbon-poor SiC nanowires via vapor-liquid-solid growth mechanism

    摘要: Nanowires growth via vapor-liquid-solid mechanism leads to high-quality SiC nanowires. C content is key issue affecting the morphology and composition of SiC nanowires. Here, we report the synthesis and growth mechanism of 3C-SiC nanowires containing reduced amount of C, which are grown on single-crystal Si via pyrolysis of polycarbosilane (PCS) by adjusting pyrolysis temperature and precursor. SiC nanowires have a diameter of 50 nm, while their thickness is 43.75 μm. High-temperature stability of precursors with multiple side-chain groups has an impact on the reaction rate, in result the solid precursor state and pyrolysis temperature at 1350°C are beneficial to the formation of pure carbon-poor SiC nanowires.

    摘要: In this paper, lithium-niobate thin films were deposited using spray pyrolysis method. Further investigations of the physical properties of prepared samples were also studied. The spray pyrolysis deposition method was performed over a quartz substrate employing new raw materials as precursor compounds. During the deposition process, a range of annealing temperatures were set to maintain a physical changes in the prepared samples properties. Further, the structural properties were also characterized using field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), AFM, and film thickness.

  • Effect of doping Fe/Cu/Ti on WO <sub/>3</sub> on furfural degradation

    摘要: This research improved tungsten oxide catalysts to increase efficiency in photocatalytic degradation of furfural under visible light. The aim of this research was to compare the efficiency of modified tungsten oxide with undoped and commercial tungsten oxide. Tungsten oxide nanoparticles were doped with 3 single metals, which were Fe/Cu/Ti at 1%wt, 2%wt, and 3%wt, synthesized by flame spray pyrolysis technique (FSP) and then characterization by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption/desorption (BET surface area analysis), UV-Vis Spectroscopy (UV-Vis). Photocatalytic degradation experiments using doped WO3 were carried out with 5 ppm initial concentration of furfural solution using 0.6 M catalyst concentration under visible light. From the results, FSP-synthesized WO3 has better efficiency in furfural degradation than the commercial WO3. All catalysts have mesoporous structure because an average pore size is in the range of 6-10 nm. Among all synthesized and doped WO3, it can be concluded that 3%wt Fe-doped tungsten oxide provides the highest acceleration rate in photocatalytic degradation of furfural.
