Electrochromic and electrochemical properties of copolymer films based on EDOT and phenylthiophene derivatives
摘要: The poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene-co-3-phenylthiophene) (P(EDOT-co-3PT)) and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene-co-3-(4-fluorophenyl)thiophene) (P(EDOT-co-FPT)) were electropolymerized with the application of 1.62 V and 1.95 V, respectively. Unpublished spectroelectrochemical and electrochromic properties of the conjugated copolymers with monomer ratio of 1:1 were investigated. A potential range of ? 1.0 to 2.0 V was found to be suitable for the device operation between blue to purple (P(EDOT-co-3PT)) and (P(EDOT-co-FPT)). The maximum transmittance difference (Δ% T) was determined to be 8.24 and 10.37%, and the time differences between oxidation and reduction were 2.14 and 2.94 s. The copolymers showed lower band gap energies than their original homopolymers (~ 1.4 eV).

<i>In situ</i> spectroelectrochemical ellipsometry using super continuum white laser: Study of the anodization of magnesium alloy
摘要: This work shows the interest to use a real time, white laser-based ellipsometer to characterize a complex electrolyte|electrode interface during an electrochemical process in an aqueous-based medium. This method is proposed to probe electrochemical interfaces that are usually not suitable to the full extent application of ellipsometry due to great disturbance of the re?ected light ?ux provoked by gas evolution or roughness. In situ spectroelectrochemical ellipsometry combining such a visible super continuum ?ber laser-band source was not previously reported to the best of the authors’ knowledge. The setup was employed to monitor an electrochemical process whose mechanism was previously incompletely described: the prespark anodization regime of the plasma electrolytic oxidation process of the Mg alloy AZ91D in the 3M KOH electrolyte. Above the anodization voltage of 4 V, the side water oxidation reaction induced light diffusion that reduces re?ected light beam intensity. The process is monitored in an extended voltage range from 4 to 40 V and in an extended spectral range (495–800 nm). In the presented case, the use of a visible super continuum ?ber laser-band source enhanced the signal-to-noise ratio giving access to a deeper picture of the triplex layer structure during surface repassivation by monitoring the evolution of the outer, inner, and interfacial layers.

Soluble high coloration efficiency electrochromic polymers based on (N-phenyl)carbazole, triphenylamine and 9,9-dioctyl-9H-fluorene
摘要: Here, we synthesized four kinds of monomers of 3,6-dibromo-(N-phenyl)carbazole with different substituent group, DCB, DDC, DNC and DTC, respectively, and used 4-(3-bromo-9H-carbazol-9-yl)benzaldehyde to react with triphenylamine (TPA) unit and hydrazine hydrate unit, respectively, to obtain the other two monomers, BCB-TPA and BCB-HH. Six novel polymers coded as PDCB-DF, PDDC-DF, PDNC-DF, PDCB-DTC-DF, PBCB-TPA-DF and PBCB-HH-DF, were synthesized by Suzuki reactions of 2,2'-(9,9-dioctyl-9H-fluorene-2,7-diyl)bis(1,3,2-dioxaborinane) with the six kinds of monomers and their electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical properties were investigated. The polymers showed good solubility and film-forming ability. Flexible or robust films of them could be readily obtained via solution-casting. These polymers showed the onset temperatures in the range of 300–470 °C when the 10% weight loss of polymers. The polymer films showed high coloration efficiency (CE) (196-376 cm2·C?1) and electrochromic stability. These properties illustrate that the polymers have great application prospect as electrochromic materials.
