This paper discusses an efficient concept of solar power generation called as Solar Tree and also the ZVT-ZCT-PWM boost converter topology and HERIC inverter topology for highly efficient system. Also we have done a simulation for this system which has desirable results.

  • Comparative Study on Solar Powered Interleaved Boost Converter

    摘要: Solar energy is an important source of renewable energy. But, it is unpleasant that, only partial amount of energy can be extracted from the Solar cells by our conventional DC-DC Boost converters. A comparative study on solar powered Interleaving Boost converters (ILBCs) is initiated. A novel Solar powered, Series-Inductor ILBC with less current ripple than the conventional ILBC is proposed. A comparative study on single- stage, two-stage and three-stage ILBCs are done. The comparison of ripple reduction of output voltage is tried with ‘C’, ‘Pi’ and Cascade Filters. The results have been applied to R-Load and motor load. The input of 150V is fed to the ILBC from the solar cell and compared for the ripple. The proposed solar powered series inductor ILBC has reduced ripple than the conventional ILBCs. Comparison table of performance and simulation results of these aforementioned solar powered ILBCs have been exhibited in this paper.

    摘要: Induction motors are commonly used in industries due to its reduced cost and minimum maintenance. In this proposed system induction motor is used for the purpose of solar based water pumping application. As the energy consumption is increasing, the energy generated is alone is not able to supply the entire load requirement. Among the available renewable energy sources, solar energy is the leading one. The work proposes a three-phase four-switch inverter for photovoltaic (PV) water pumping or treatment systems. The use of batteries can be avoided, since the converter used in this proposed work is two inductor boost converter. By considering the economic factor and life span of the device, electro-chemical storage elements are avoided. Also an effective intelligent hill climbing algorithmis used to extract maximum power from PV cell. The use of a three- phase induction motor is a better solution to the dc motor for water pumping application.

    摘要: Static method to optimize a power delivered by a solar panel is called Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT). The method tries to find a maximum power from its PV solar panel characteristics curve using a power converter. MPPT is realized using a buck boost converter and Filter variable step size modified incremental conductance method. Experimental works show that the MPPT system successfully seeks its maximum power and decreases the oscillation during pathway to reach the maximum power. The power generated by the solar panels at 1000 watt/m2 (without MPPT) is 4.17 watt (R = 50 Ω) and 2.37 watts (R = 25 Ω). MPPT system can increase the power to solar panels into 4.48 watt (R = 50 Ω), and 4.32 watt (R = 25 Ω). The power generated by the solar panels at 750 watt/m2 (without MPPT) is 2.53 watt (R = 50 Ω) and 1.48 watts (R = 25 Ω). MPPT system designed also improve the power of solar panels into 3.02 watt (R = 50 Ω) and 3.02 watt (R = 25 Ω). The error steady state in the maximum power condition is 1.188%.

    摘要: DC microgrid based on photovoltaic (PV, 500 WP) and fuel cell (FC, 1 kW) power generators have been designed to operate DC loads at different voltage levels (24 V, 48 V and 110 V). The voltage level in a DC microgrid decides the system efficiency, voltage regulation and the total cost. The system efficiency is shown to depend on the power conversion mode (DC-DC converter) efficiency and ohmic loss (in connecting cables). DC loads used vary from 250 W to 1000 W and according the cable sizing is required to be changed to improve the voltage regulation and to reduce the cable loss. The buck -boost DC-DC converter is used in 24/48 V microgrids, while boost converter is required for 110 V microgrid. The buck-boost converter efficiency is ≈ 85% and the boost converter provides efficiency ≈ 95%. It is shown that 110 V DC voltage level gives optimum performance for low power DC microgrid in comparison with 24 V or 48 V.

  • Analysis of Nonlinear Dynamics of a Quadratic Boost Converter Used for Maximum Power Point Tracking in a Grid-Interlinked PV System

    摘要: In this paper, the nonlinear dynamics of a PV-fed high-voltage-gain single-switch quadratic boost converter loaded by a grid-interlinked DC-AC inverter is explored in its parameter space. The control of the input port of the converter is designed using a resistive control approach ensuring stability at the slow time-scale. However, time-domain simulations, performed on a full-order circuit-level switched model implemented in PSIM c software, show that at relatively high irradiance levels, the system may exhibit undesired subharmonic instabilities at the fast time-scale. A model of the system is derived, and a closed-form expression is used for locating the subharmonic instability boundary in terms of parameters of different nature. The theoretical results are in remarkable agreement with the numerical simulations and experimental measurements using a laboratory prototype. The modeling method proposed and the results obtained can help in guiding the design of power conditioning converters for solar PV systems, as well as other similar structures for energy conversion systems.

    摘要: This manuscript details a design method for a 500kW solar power based microgrid system for space applications. The design method utilizes multi-objective optimization with the Genetic Algorithm considering four parameters that characterize solar power based microgrids (battery voltage, PV maximum power, PV maximum power point voltage, and number of panels per string). The final optimization metric is the ratio of daily average deliverable power to total system mass (W/kg) metric. The microgrid system is composed of a number of modular DC-DC micro-converters, of which four topologies (buck, boost, buck-boost and non-inverting buck-boost) are evaluated and compared. The non-inverting buck-boost converter is determined to be the best candidate, and the optimal system characteristics are provided and analyzed. The final system design achieves a specific power of 35.56W/kg, with optimized result of 743.7V battery voltage, 439.5W PV maximum power, 182.7V PV maximum voltage, and three panels per string. Based on the optimizations results, a prototype is designed, tested, and analyzed in terms of efficiency and low temperature reliability. The converter achieved a peak efficiency of 98.4%, a power density of 3.54W/cm3, a specific power of 3.76W/g, and operated for over 267 hours of 11-minute low temperature cycles from 0oC to -140oC.

  • Investigation on Solar PV generation and design of switched reluctance motor for Smart Agriculture actuation system

    摘要: This paper presents standalone solar photovoltaic (PV) powered fed actuation system employing a switched reluctance motor (SRM) particularly used in remote and rural areas. The converter efficiency is achieved by changing ON and OFF state of solar PV drive. An electronic commutation drives SRM drive with achieved by position hall sensor and encoder. The modified boost converter is proposed in single stage to conversion of PV fed power and inverter with reduced switching losses. Further proposed system is designed to reduce cost of system using simple design and control. This paper also proposes the speed control strategy of SRM motor with an artificial intelligent based Adaptive neuro fuzzy inference (ANFIS) system to achieve desired motor velocity as stated in reference velocity in farm lands. The system proposed is subjected to analysis the performance of drive and controller in both load and no-load conditions. Initially, a simulation model is modeled in MATLAB-SIMULINK with corresponding environments. The experimental setup for proposed system is developed using FPGA based SPEEDGOAT real time target machine. The simulation and hardware results suggest feasibility of proposed system in real time.

  • An H5 Transformerless Inverter for Grid Connected PV Systems with Improved Utilization Factor and a Simple Maximum Power Point Algorithm

    摘要: Due to their small size, minimum cost, and great efficiency, photovoltaic (PV) grid-connected transformerless inverters have been developed and become famous around the world in distributed PV generators systems. One of the most efficient topologies of the transformerless inverter family is H5 topology. This inverter extracts a discontinuous current from the PV panel, which conflicts with the operation at maximum power point tracking (MPPT) conditions while the utilization factor of the PV degrades. This paper proposes improved H5 topology featuring a boost converter inserted in the middle between the PV panels and the H5 inverter. The design of the boost converter is planned to operate at continuous conduction mode to guarantee MPPT conditions of the PV. A new and simple off line MPPT algorithm is introduced and performance factors like efficiency and utilization factors of the proposed and convention H5 topology are compared. The simulation results indicate that the proposed system provides a preferable utilization factor and a simpler MPPT algorithm.

    摘要: Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) devices are usually battery powered and thereby their lifetime is limited. This issue leads to lose data measurements and thus to a performance loss of the underlying WSN application. It also increases the maintenance cost in Internet of Things (IoT) scenarios with a huge number of WSN devices. Energy harvesting (EH) is one of the key technologies to solve this issue. In this paper, energy harvesting by artificial light is proposed to power WSN devices in indoor scenarios. Contrary to the state-of-the-art related work, this paper experimentally demonstrates that it is possible, under certain conditions, to achieve energy neutral WSN devices by harvesting energy from artificial light. The experimental setup consists of an EH module, which powers a WSN source data acquisition node, and a WSN sink node which receives the data sent by the first. The EH module consists of a photovoltaic (PV) cell, a boost converter and a 3V coin battery.
