  • Design of Real-Time Slope Monitoring system using Time-Domain Reflectometry with Wireless Sensor Network

    摘要: Slope monitoring systems using WSN is an efficient technique to track slope movements or failures. Instability in slope contributes greatly in hazards caused to lives and property in mining areas and operations. Electronic instrumentation like wire-line extensometers, piezometers, total stations etc. are used for sensing the slope stability. The available wireless monitoring systems like SSR, LiDAR, Laser monitoring techniques are more expensive. In order to overcome this, efficient and economically feasible measurement systems for slope monitoring are needed. This paper presents the design, development and field implementation of an online, cost-effective wireless system for real-time slope monitoring which gives visible warning of a possible slope failure. The system is designed on Arduino board as a platform with RF module (ZigBee) for wireless communication. Additionally, using python the database and GUI are implemented. The experimental field TDR data is also verified with the total station monitoring system.

    摘要: When food is stored under inappropriate or inadequate temperature, foodstuff would turn rotten as a result of the rapid breed of food spoilage bacteria under warm and wet circumstances where bacteria can be easily generated, the consequences can be worse if human beings eat those degenerative comestible, we might get bromatoxism. This paper focuses on the designing and simulation of a wearable radio frequency identification (RFID) patch for food spoilage monitoring with smart packaging that can be recognized and read temperature information by device supporting near field communication (NFC) technology through an attached circular antenna. More precisely, this patch can be read under a designed high frequency of 13.56MHz, and data is transmitted from the chip MLX90129 with its internal sensor that sends the temperature to the reader module.

    摘要: Light intensity focused ultrasound (LIFU) is an early stage medical technology that is in various stages of development to treat a range of disorders including super?cial diseases. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a rapid development imaging technique in recent ten years, which is a good way to monitor the tissue structure of super?cial diseases. In this study, OCT system is used to monitor the tissue structure of super?cial diseases during LIFU treatment. During the treatment, LIFU was performed on the lesion area of the sample with different energy levels for different times: 5s, 10s, 15s, 20s, 25s, 30s, respectively. During the treatment, the OCT system was working to monitor the tissue structure. The results showed that the light intensity of the lesion area increased with the treatment time, and the structure of the tissue changed. This study provides a new method for monitoring the treatment of super?cial diseases with LIFU.

    摘要: In this paper, we present the design and implementation of analog front-end (AFE) module for patient monitoring system based on optical wireless communication (OWC). The communication link uses visible light as a downlink and IR as an uplink communication. The wireless patient monitoring system consists of two parts: host or coordinator and client or patient device. On the patient device part, we designed the PCB with a shield configuration so the AFE module can be connected directly to GPIO’s microcontroller unit (MCU) without any cable. Moreover, the AFE module is attempted to have a similar size with the MCU. Hence, the patient device has a small-size, minimum of wires, wearable, and low-complexity. The AFE receiver output is a digital waveform. Therefore, it is compatible with On-off Keying (OOK) modulation. The AFE module can be switched digitally up to 25 KHz of optical frequency for visible light downlink and 1500 Hz optical frequency for IR uplink. The optical link distance can reach up to 2 meters with 0o of reception angle.

  • Improved quality of intrafraction kilovoltage images by triggered readout of unexposed frames

    摘要: Purpose: The gantry-mounted kilovoltage (kV) imager of modern linear accelerators can be used for real-time tumor localization during radiation treatment delivery. However, the kV image quality often suffers from cross-scatter from the megavoltage (MV) treatment beam. This study investigates readout of unexposed kV frames as a means to improve the kV image quality in a series of experiments and a theoretical model of the observed image quality improvements. Methods: A series of fluoroscopic images were acquired of a solid water phantom with an embedded gold marker and an air cavity with and without simultaneous radiation of the phantom with a 6 MV beam delivered perpendicular to the kV beam with 300 and 600 monitor units per minute (MU/min). An in-house built device triggered readout of zero, one, or multiple unexposed frames between the kV exposures. The unexposed frames contained part of the MV scatter, consequently reducing the amount of MV scatter accumulated in the exposed frames. The image quality with and without unexposed frame readout was quantified as the contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) of the gold marker and air cavity for a range of imaging frequencies from 1 to 15 Hz. To gain more insight into the observed CNR changes, the image lag of the kV imager was measured and used as input in a simple model that describes the CNR with unexposed frame readout in terms of the contrast, kV noise, and MV noise measured without readout of unexposed frames. Results: Without readout of unexposed kV frames, the quality of intratreatment kV images decreased dramatically with reduced kV frequencies due to MV scatter. The gold marker was only visible for imaging frequencies ≥3 Hz at 300 MU/min and ≥5 Hz for 600 MU/min. Visibility of the air cavity required even higher imaging frequencies. Readout of multiple unexposed frames ensured visibility of both structures at all imaging frequencies and a CNR that was independent of the kV frame rate. The image lag was 12.2%, 2.2%, and 0.9% in the first, second, and third frame after an exposure. The CNR model predicted the CNR with triggered image readout with a mean absolute error of 2.0% for the gold marker. Conclusions: A device that triggers readout of unexposed frames during kV fluoroscopy was built and shown to greatly improve the quality of intratreatment kV images. A simple theoretical model successfully described the CNR improvements with the device.

  • Analysis of Optical Plasma Monitoring in Plasma-Enhanced Atomic Layer Deposition Process of Al <sub/>2</sub> O <sub/>3</sub>

    摘要: A noninvasive, optical plasma monitoring method in plasma-enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD) process for nanoscale water vapor barrier film is presented. Any equipment malfunction, as well as a deviation in the condition of individual components can easily jeopardize the process result. Al2O3 deposition process was employed in this research as a test vehicle, and high-speed optical plasma monitoring was demonstrated. It is shown that optical plasma monitoring is useful for not only measuring plasma pulses in real time, but also for the detection of any variation in plasma condition which enables inferring plasma dynamics for advanced process control in nanoscale thin film deposition process.

  • A Novel Transmitting Module Self-Monitoring Protection System Based On MEMS Sensors and Actuators

    摘要: Design, fabrication, and measurements of a novel transmitting module self-monitoring protection system are presented in this letter. Such a system is based on micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) sensors and actuators for monitoring and protecting the microwave amplifier circuit. The transmitting module self-monitoring protection system consists of the RF MEMS switches, the directional coupler, and the MEMS power sensors. When the microwave amplifier circuit is at an abnormal state ("open," "short," or "overload"), the transmitting module self-monitoring protection system can isolate the microwave amplifier circuit out of order and reconfigure the transmitting module into impedance matching within 36 ms. When the microwave amplifier circuit is at the overload state, the error between the set switching power and the actual switching power is less than 9%. The measured results agree well with the theory.

  • Occasion determination method of low Earth orbit satellites meeting the narrow-beam signal

    摘要: The determination of the occasion when the low Earth orbit satellite meets the narrow-beam signal is quite important. Based on the orbit prediction model of simplified general perturbations 4 (SGP4), the calculation model of the relative position between the low Earth orbit satellite and the ground target is established in the paper, and so is the calculation model of the relative position between the low Earth orbit satellite and the high Earth orbit communication satellite. The determination method of the occasion when the low Earth orbit satellite meets the narrow-beam signal is further proposed. It is shown by the simulation results that the proposed calculation method possesses high accuracy and feasibility and is able to satisfy the practical application requirements.

    摘要: This work presents the concept of a battery-free, sticker-like, device for a non-invasive health-monitoring sensor. The device consists of two functional blocks: an optical power-transfer block and an amperometric measurement block. The former accumulates power from a series-connected photovoltaic cell in a capacitor and intermittently supplies the power to the amperometric measurement circuit. This circuit is driven by powering pulses and displays the amperometric current as the durations of the light pulses from a light-emitting diode. The function of the circuit was successfully demonstrated through simulations, in which the equivalent circuit of an electrochemical glucose sensor was used as an example. The simulation results showed that the proposed device would work as expected for a variety of glucose concentrations at an oxidation voltage of 0.8 V.

    摘要: An on-chip monitoring circuit using a sub-sampling scheme, which consists of a 6-bit flash analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and a 51-phase phase-locked loop (PLL)-based frequency synthesizer, is proposed to analyze the signal integrity of a single-ended 8-Gb/s octal data rate (ODR) chip-to-chip interface with a source synchronous clocking scheme.
