  • Blue-light imaging has an additional value to white-light endoscopy in visualization of early Barrett's neoplasia: an international multicenter cohort study

    摘要: Endoscopic features of early neoplasia in Barrett’s esophagus (BE) are subtle. Blue-light imaging (BLI) may improve visualization of neoplastic lesions. The aim of this study was to evaluate BLI in visualization of Barrett’s neoplasia. Methods: Corresponding white-light endoscopy (WLE) and BLI images of 40 BE lesions were obtained prospectively and assessed by 6 international experts in 3 assessments. Each assessment consisted of overview and magnification images. Assessments were as follows: assessment 1, WLE only; assessment 2, BLI only; and assessment 3, corresponding WLE and BLI images. Outcome parameters were as follows: (1) appreciation of macroscopic appearance and surface relief (visual analog scale scores); (2) ability to delineate lesions (visual analog scale scores); (3) preferred technique for delineation (ordinal scores); and (4) quantitative agreement on delineations (AND/OR scores). Results: Experts appreciated BLI significantly better than WLE for visualization of macroscopic appearance (median 8.0 vs 7.0, P < .001) and surface relief (8.0 vs 6.0, P < .001). For both overview and magnification images, experts appreciated BLI significantly better than WLE for ability to delineate lesions (8.0 vs 6.0, P < .001 and 8.0 vs 5.0, P < .001). There was no overall significant difference in AND/OR scores of WLE + BLI when compared with WLE, yet agreement increased significantly with WLE + BLI for cases with a low baseline AND/OR score on WLE, both in overview (mean difference, 0.15; P = .015) and magnification (mean difference, 0.10; P = .01). Conclusions: BLI has additional value for visualization of BE neoplasia. Experts appreciated BLI better than WLE for visualization and delineation of BE neoplasia. Quantitative agreement increased significantly when BLI was offered next to WLE for lesions that were hard to delineate with WLE alone.

  • Narrow-Band Green-Emitting Sr <sub/>2</sub> MgAl <sub/>22</sub> O <sub/>36</sub> :Mn <sup>2+</sup> Phosphors with Superior Thermal Stability and Wide Color Gamut for Backlighting Display Applications

    摘要: The narrow-band emitting phosphors have been extensively investigated in recent years, with the expectation that a wide color gamut of phosphor-converted backlighting device could be fabricated. Due to the weak electric–phonon interaction and low structural relaxation caused by the high rigid crystal structure and symmetric coordination environment, Sr2MgAl22O36:Mn2+ (SMAO:Mn2+) shows a narrow full-width at half-maximum of 26 nm, a high color purity of 81.5%, and a low thermal quenching (82% at 473 K of the initial intensity at 298 K). Using K2SiF6:Mn4+ as the red phosphor, SMAO:Mn2+ as the green one, and GaN-based chip as the blue component, the white light-emitting diode exhibits a National Television Standard Committee value of 127%. All the results demonstrate that the SMAO:Mn2+ phosphor has a promising application in the field of advanced wide-color-gamut backlight display, and the establishment of the relationships between the narrow-band emission and crystal structure can also be applied to design other novel narrow-band phosphors for backlighting technologies.

  • A multi-color and white-light emissive cucurbituril/terpyridine/lanthanide supramolecular nanofiber

    摘要: Multi-color and white light luminescence materials based on supramolecular assemblies are attractive because of their potential applications in advanced light-emitting material. Herein, a cucurbit[8]uril-enhanced lanthanide luminescent supramolecular assembly was constructed in a facile but efficient way using terpyridine imidozalium cations, cucurbit[8]urils and rare earth ions such as Tb3+ and Eu3+. Significantly, the resultant fibrous supramolecular assembly, with an average width of 15 nm, could emit remarkable lanthanide luminescence, which was ten times higher than the corresponding terpyridine/Ln3+ without cucurbit[8]uril. And the solid state luminescence of supramolecular assembly could be smartly and easily turned among blue, green, red and white by adjusting the molar ratios between Tb3+ and Eu3+. The enhanced white-light emission by supramolecular strategy may provide a new approach for smart and tunable solid luminescent materials.

  • Universal Reservior of UV, WL and NIR Light for Long Persistent Luminescence from a Metal-Organic Supramolecular Box

    摘要: Long persistent luminescence (LPL) materials have unique photophysical mechanism to store light radiation energy for subsequent release. However, in comparison to the common UV source, white-light (WL) and near-infrared (NIR) excited LPL is scarce. Here we report a metal-organic supramolecular box based on a D-π-A type ligand. Due to the integrated one-photon absorption (OPA) and two-photon absorption (TPA) attributes of the ligand, heavy atom effect of the metal-center, as well as π-stacking and J-aggregation states in the supramolecular assembly, LPL can be triggered by all wavebands from UV, WL to NIR region for the first time. This novel designed supramolecular kit to afford LPL via both OPA and TPA pathways provides potential applications in anti-counterfeiting, camouflaging, decorating, displaying, and so on.

  • Multicolour tuning and perfect white emission from novel PbWO4:Yb3+:Ho3+:Tm3+ nanophosphor

    摘要: Upconverting (UC) nanoparticles have been an eye-candy for the people of optical world in the past decade because of their stupendous luminescence properties, photostability, effective quantum efficiency and most of all for its voluminous power of converting Infra-red (IR) waves into visible radiation. In this article, we have successfully synthesized novel Yb3+, Ho3+, Tm3+ doped lead tungstate nanophosphor by facile hydrothermal technique, where the product can also be scaled up in a large quantity. The phase purity and structure of the samples were characterized using X-Ray diffractometer and the structural morphology was studied using FEG TEM which shows formation of nano sphere of about 30-40 nm. Photoluminescence studies of the nanophosphor were carried out using spectroflurophotometer which shows red, green and blue emission due to the energy level transitions viz 5F5 → 5I8 and 5S2/5F4 → 5I8 of Ho3+,1G4 → 3H6, of Tm3+ respectively. The pumping power variation data was recorded using variable power which implies that the UC mechanism is a mixture of two and three photon process. The biexponential decay kinetics experiment was also done using the pulse mood laser source which shows the mean lifetime of 21.09 μs, 12.03 μs and 29.43 μs for blue, green and red emission respectively. Due to the perfect intermixing of the red, green and blue emission in the optimum sample a bright white light is obtained with CIE coordinates indexed as (0.34573,0.3449). The correlated colour temperature (CCT) values of the bright white light was calculated using McCamy’s approximations and it was found to be 4960 K which is almost equivalent to the colour “Horizon Daylight”. The colour temperature found after calculation, must be eye-friendly and hence perfect for using in optoelectronics applications.

  • Porous Organic Polymer-Coated Band-Aids for Phototherapy of Bacteria-Induced Wound Infection

    摘要: Band-Aids have been widely used for wound care. For most adhesive bandages, however, they have limited capacity to speed up the wound healing process, which in turn may cause serious wound infections. In this study, antibacterial Band-Aids, combining porphyrin based porous organic polymers (POPs) with commercial antibiotics-free Band-Aids, are designed. Under white light irradiation, POP can produce effective photothermal heat, as well as highly reactive oxygen species (ROS), thereby triggering the potent hyperthermia and simultaneous ROS increase on wounds. What's more, white-light is similar with sunlight, which makes POP-based Band-Aids (PBA) ideal wound dressings for wound disinfection.

  • Hyperspectral holographic microscopy of bio-objects based on a modified Linnik interferometer

    摘要: We present a modified Linnik microinterferometer that can register image-plane hyperspectral holograms in reflection of various microobjects in incoherent light. A voice coil was integrated into the reference arm of the interferometer to enable mirror displacement. A set of interferograms is registered in each pixel of a high-speed CMOS camera. Post processing yields spectrally resolved image-plane holograms of the object. Quantitative phase images of red blood cells are obtained for each spectral component σ = 1/λ.

  • Synthesis of broad yellow phosphors by co-doping and realization of high quality of white light

    摘要: In order to obtain high quality white light, we synthesized yellow phosphors by doping europium and other lanthanoids such as holmium and lutetium. We successfully obtained yellow phosphors with green emissions with a wavelength of 510 nm for Li2SrSiO4 by co-doping europium and holmium. Unlike single doping of europium, a lower reduction temperature seemed to be preferable. When we simulated the chromaticity of white light at 5000 K, achieved by mixing blue light, which was used for excitation, and this phosphor, it resulted in better quality than commercially available products.

  • White light interferometry and MountainsMap? - case studies in static load capacity of bearings and surface finish optimisation of orthotic knee joints

    摘要: This paper deals with two case studies demonstrating the combined use of white light interferometry and MountainsMap? software to: 1) accurately measure indentation diameters on race elements with an accuracy of a 1/100th of a micrometer and to examine static load capacity of bearings compared to the industry standard. In this case study, static load capacity of the ball bearings was shown to be 31% lower than that specified by ISO and ANSI/ABMA bearing standards; 2) characterise machined surfaces with 2D and 3D parameters, with the goal of producing optimal surface finish on orthotic knee joints used by Cerebral Palsy patients. In this case study, 2D roughness parameters Ra, Rq, Rp, Rz, and 3D roughness parameters Sa, Sq, Sp, Sz, were improved by 34%, 31%, 8%, 20%, and 36%, 33%, 6%, 6% respectively. Both case studies demonstrate the significance of modern topography techniques in enhancing the measurement accuracy of surface characteristics.
