    摘要: The particles of pigment can scatter source light, using a dye reduces the proportion of pigment, so the transmittance was improved nicely. The hybrid color filter also exhibit tuneable emission characteristics, another the hue of dye is better, thus higher purity red, green and Blue (RGB) primary colors be got, the hybrid also can be used in wide-color-gamut products, the transmittance enhance 10%~13% in C-light and 10%~12% in backlight (BL) at the white balance.

  • Color Noise Reduction Method in Non-constant Luminance Signal for High Dynamic Range Video Service

    摘要: A high dynamic range (HDR) video service is an upcoming industry. For compatibility with legacy devices receiving a non-constant luminance (NCL) signal, new tools supporting an HDR video service are required. The current pre-processing chain of HDR video can produce color noise owing to the chroma component down-sampling process for video encoding. Although a luma adjustment method has been proposed to solve this problem, some disadvantages still remain. In this paper, we present an adaptive color noise reduction method for an NCL signal of an HDR video service. The proposed method adjusts the luma component of an NCL signal adaptively according to the information of the luma component from a constant luminance signal and the level of color saturation. Experiment results show that the color noise problem is resolved by applying our proposed method. In addition, the speed of the pre-processing is increased more than two-fold compared to a previous method.

  • Environmentally Friendly InP-based Quantum Dots for Efficient Wide Color Gamut Displays

    摘要: Quantum dots (QD) are regarded as ideal light emitters for current and next-generation displays. Hence, there is an urgent need to produce environmentally friendly QDs that show high efficiency and better color purity. From this perspective, a strategy of tuning the wavelength and spectral width is discussed to optimize the brightness and color space agreement. The critical parameters affecting photophysical properties, such as the uniformity of InP QD core, the thickness and shape of the ZnSe shell, the electron/hole distribution, surface dangling defects, oxidative phase, and the stacking faults in the crystalline structure, are examined. Also, quantitative analyses are suggested to understand the nature of the ligands so that practical applications can be diversified. Recently, the QD-LED using InP-based QDs with controlled shell structure showed a potential of future commercialization. As a further development, it is required to improve the stability via the control of inorganic and organic passivating structures.

    摘要: With the introduction of the International Telecommunication Union—Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R) Recommendation BT.2020 (Rec. 2020) color space for ultrahigh de?nition television, the development of wide-gamut displays has become a high priority. To measure the relative gamut sizes of wide-gamut displays, it is herein proposed that the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) 1931 xy chromaticity diagram be used as a practical single metric rather than the nominally perceptually uniform CIE 1976 u'v' chromaticity diagram because of the high correlations between the Rec. 2020 gamut area-coverage ratios in the xy diagram and the volume-coverage ratios in the CIE 1976 L*a*b* and CIE 1976 L*u*v* color spaces. This paper explains why using the perceptually nonuniform xy diagram is counterintuitively appropriate to measure display gamut sizes by presenting a quantitative analysis of the gamut coverage in terms of hue. The argument is made that performing planimetry in the u'v' diagram, whose perceptual uniformity is valid only when the luminance is constant, does not yield accurate display gamut sizes, because the magenta region area is overestimated and the yellow region area is underestimated. Furthermore, some limitations on the use of planimetry for measuring display gamut sizes of multiprimary displays are discussed, and the color light output standard is proposed as a complement to practical planimetry using the xy diagram.

  • Green and red phosphor for LED backlight in wide color gamut LCD

    摘要: Wide color gamut (WCG) backlight for liquid crystal display (LCD) utilizing white light-emitting diodes (LED) has attracted considerable attention for their high efficiency and color reduction. In this review, recent developments in crystal structure, luminescence and applications of phosphors for wide color gamut LED backlight are introduced. As novel red phosphors, Mn4+ activate fluoride and aluminate phosphors are advanced in quantum efficiency, thermal quenching and color saturation for their characteristic spectrum with broad excitation band and linear emission. The crystal structure and fluorescence properties of Mn4+ doped fluosilicate, fluorogermanate, fluotitanate, as well as Sr4Al14O25, CaAl12O19 and BaMgAl10O17 phosphors are discussed in detail. A serial of narrow-band red-emitting Eu2+, Eu3+ and Pr3+-doped nitride silicates and molybdate phosphors are also introduced. Rare-earth-doped oxynitride and silicate green-emitting phosphors have attracted more and more attention because of the wide excitation, narrow emission, high quenching temperature, high quantum efficiency, such as β-sialon:Eu2+, Ba3Si6O12N2:Eu2+, MSi2O2N2:Eu2+ (M=Ca, Sr, Ba), γ-AlON: Mn2+ and Ca3Sc2Si3O12:Ce3+. All above phosphors demonstrate their adaptability in wide color gamut LCD display. Especially for Mn4+ doped fluosilicate red phosphor and β-sialon: Eu2+ green phosphor. To achieve an ultra-high color gamut in white LED backlight and against the OLED, innovative narrow-band emission red and green phosphor materials with independent intellectual property rights are continuously pursed.

  • Novel Bromide Quaternary Ammonium Ligand for Synthesizing High Fluorescence Efficiency CsPbBn Perovskite Quantum Dots and Their Fabrication of White Light-Emitting Diodes with Wide Color Gamut

    摘要: We proposed a novel bromine quaternary ammonium ligand to synthesize high quantum yield (QY) CsPbBr3 quantum dots (QDs). The QY of CsPbBr3 QDs synthesized by this ligand reached 95% and the full width at half maximum (FWHM) was as narrow as 17nm. The peak wavelength of the prepared CsPbBr3 QDs was 530nm. And these QDs emitted high purity green light under ultraviolet light. The color coordinate of white LED (WLED) prepared with the CsPbBr3 QDs was (0.29, 0.31), which was very close to pure white light. The color gamut of the WLED covered 130% of the national television system committee (NTSC) color standard and 96% of the ITU-R Recommendation BT.2020 (Rec.2020) color standard.

  • Precipitating CsPbBr <sub/>3</sub> quantum dots in boro-germanate glass with a dense structure and inert environment toward highly stable and efficient narrow-band green emitters for wide-color-gamut liquid crystal displays

    摘要: All-inorganic perovskite CsPbBr3 quantum dots (QDs) are becoming the most popular narrow-band green emitter for use as a critical material in next generation wide-color-gamut backlight displays. However, their intrinsic poor stability greatly hinders their development for practical applications. Herein, CsPbBr3 QDs were successfully precipitated in boro-germanate glass (CsPbBr3 QDs@glass) with well-designed compositions, not only retaining a high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY of 43% upon 450 nm excitation) and narrow bandwidth (FWHM of 22 nm), but also showing significantly enhanced stability in relation to water, heat, and UV/blue irradiation. The relative PL intensity of CsPbBr3 QDs@glass was maintained at 60% or 85% after being immersed in water for 22 days or exposed to UV light for 100 hours, respectively. Moreover, CsPbBr3 QDs@glass samples present impressive recovery abilities in thermal cycling experiments or upon intermittent blue light irradiation. Finally, an all-inorganic white light-emitting diode (white LED) achieving 125% of National Television Standards Committee (NTSC) performance was fabricated through employing green-emitting CsPbBr3 QDs@glass and red-emitting Cs2SiF6:Mn4+ phosphor-in-glass (PiG) plates as color convertors. The design rules established here could initiate the further exploration of other glass systems with moderate halide solubilities and low melting temperatures to precipitate highly e?cient and stable CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) QDs.

    摘要: Considering the content dependence of the perceived quality, selection of source content can significantly influence the results of studies related to Quality of Experience. In this paper, we propose an automated content selection method towards wide color gamut stimuli. The framework enables to objectively characterize the content according to its perceptual properties and thus allows to select a representative, diverse, and challenging subsets for various studies. Experimental results validate the reliability and robustness of the proposed framework.

  • Ultrapure Green Light-Emitting Diodes Based on CdSe/CdS Core/Crown Nanoplatelets

    摘要: Colloidal nanoplatelets is a kind of two-dimensional nano-materials with an atomically flat surface, leading to an ultra-narrow emission linewidth of 8~12 nm. In this paper, we fabricated a green light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based on CdSe/CdS core/crown NPLs. This device exhibited an electroluminescence (EL) at 521 nm with a full-width at half maximum (FWHM) of 15 nm and a maximum luminance of 4684 cd/m2. Such narrow EL FWHM indicates that the core/crown NPLs can achieve an ultrapure green LED with a 124.7% of NTSC (National Televison System Committee), realizing a high color saturation and wide color gamut display.

  • Wide-Gamut and Polarization-Independent Structural Color at Optical Sub-diffraction-Limit Spatial Resolution Based on Uncoupled LSPPs

    摘要: The decreasing pixel size of digital image sensors for high-resolution imaging brings a great challenge for the matching color filters. Currently, the conventional dye color filters with pixel size of several microns set a fundamental limit for the imaging resolution. Here, we put forward a kind of structural color filter with circular nanohole-nanodisk hybrid nanostructure arrays at sub-diffraction-limit spatial resolution based on the uncoupled localized surface plasmon polaritons (LSPPs). Due to the uncoupled LSPPs taking effect, the pixel could generate an individual color even though operating as a single element. The pixel size for the minimum color filtering is as small as 180 × 180 nm2, translating into printing pixels at a resolution of ~ 141,000 dots per inch (dpi). In addition, through both the experimental and numerical investigations, the structural color thus generated exhibits wide color gamut, large viewing angle, and polarization independence. These results indicate that the proposed structural color can have enormous potential for diverse applications in nanoscale optical filters, microscale images for security purposes, and high-density optical data storage.
