  • Ultraviolet response of reduced graphene oxide/natural cellulose yarns with high flexibility

    摘要: We prepared graphene yarn comprising reduced graphene oxide flakes and natural cellulose yarn by simple dip-coating and chemical reduction, and characterized its ultraviolet (UV) response under bending deformation. The as-prepared reduced graphene oxide cellulose yarns showed good basic properties including electrical conductivity (~1.0 S/cm) and mechanical stability (1,000 cycles), as well as a UV photoresponsivity of 1.31 mA/W (flat) and 1.0 mA/W (bent) and response times of 5 s/6 s (flat) and 6 s/7 s (bent). Our approach provides a path to realizing enhanced functional capabilities in natural cellulose textiles and their use in advanced smart textiles and wearable electronic/optoelectronic applications.

    摘要: A high frequency photocathode based on a carbon nanotube (CNT)-yarn in series to a semi-insulating (s.i.) GaAs was fabricated and used for field electron emission in a diode configuration. This hybrid two-chip technology allows the separate optimization of the yarn emitter and the photoswitch. This concept can overcome the capacitance limitations of miniaturized high-frequency vacuum tubes. The used CNT yarn emitter with 20 μm diameter had a threshold electric fields of ~1.8 V/μm (defined at 1mA/cm2) with a stable field emitter current up to 400 μA. The high-voltage photomodulation was up to 100 MHz.

  • Photodiodes embedded within electronic textiles

    摘要: A novel photodiode-embedded yarn has been presented and characterized for the first time, offering new possibilities for applications including monitoring body vital signs (including heart rate, blood oxygen and skin temperature) and environmental conditions (light, humidity and ultraviolet radiation). To create an E-Textile integrated with electronic devices that is comfortable, conformal, aesthetically pleasing and washable, electronic components are best integrated within the structure of a textile fabric in yarn form. The device is first encapsulated within a protective clear resin micro-pod before being covered in a fibrous sheath. The resin micro-pod and covering fibres have a significant effect on the nature of light received by the photoactive region of the device. This work characterised the effects of both encapsulating photodiodes within resin micro-pods and covering the micro-pod with a fibrous sheath on the opto-electronic parameters. A theoretical model is presented to provide an estimate for these effects and validated experimentally using two photodiode types and a range of different resin micro-pods. This knowledge may have wider applications to other devices with small-scale opto-electronic components. Wash tests confirmed that the yarns could survive multiple machine wash and drying cycles without deterioration in performance.

  • The Design and Implementation of Photoelectric Sensor for Yarn Color Fault Detection

    摘要: The paper mainly aimed at solving the problem of yarn color fault detection. Yarn with different color is hard to detect in yarn production, a special photoelectric sensor is designed in this paper. First, this paper analyzed the requirement of light source and photoelectric receiver in the photoelectric sensor, and designs the light path and driver circuit. Then this paper analyzed the amplifier circuit and noise in the photoelectric sensor, with an amplifier circuit of minimal noise proposed at last. Finally, this paper tested the yarn color fault detection system with virtual instrument, and the test results showed a great application prospect of the photoelectric sensor. Photoelectric yarn clearer was the first type of electronic yarn clearer, but due to the under development of the optical technology and measurement technology, the photoelectric yarn cleaner can't meet the requirements of textile production, gradually replaced by capacitive yarn cleaner. Though photoelectric yarn cleaner had a good visual conformity degree, it’s still a unreplaceable method in colored yarn faults.
