  • Effect of post deposition annealing on the electrical properties of YSZ thin films deposited by pulsed laser technique

    摘要: In this paper we report the detailed analysis of the effect of in-situ annealing on the electrical properties of yttrium stabilized zirconium oxide (YSZ) thin films grown by pulsed laser deposition on silicon substrates. The optimized metal/YSZ/Si devices showed low leakage current, good dielectric strength and a breakdown field strength of 4.13 MV/cm. The magnitudes of flat band voltage, and interfacial charge density have been extracted from the capacitance-voltage (C-V) characteristics of the MOS structure. The C-V characteristics show a small hysteresis which indicates the presence of traps. The observed shift in the flat band voltage and hysteresis are explained with the help of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. From the XPS depth profile analysis of the samples it was found that as we go from the surface to the interface, oxygen concentration in the deposited film decreases, i.e. the oxide becomes zirconium rich. This has been correlated with the observed electrical properties.

  • An original LIBS system based on TEA CO2 laser as a tool for determination of glass surface hardness

    摘要: This study was carried out to examine the applicability of original laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) setup for determination of the surface hardness of lead glass as a function of its chemical composition. For this purpose, a set of five lead glass samples with different amount of ZrO2 was prepared. The LIBS measurements were carried out using TEA CO2 laser in the air at atmospheric pressure and without sample preparation. A ratio of the intensity between the Zr(II) 355.66 nm and Zr(I) 360.12 nm emission lines has been used to examine the hardness of the material. In addition, the surface hardness of glass samples was determined by Vickers’s indentation tests. Obtained results indicate a linear relationship of the measurements of hardness in glass samples between the LIBS and Vickers method. To show that LIBS based on TEA CO2 laser is an almost nondestructive technique, profilometric surface analysis was used. The proposed LIBS system is suitable not only for a spectrochemical analysis but also as an easy to use and cost-effective way to measure the surface hardness for all types and shapes of glass samples which are in some cases difficult to examine by standard Vicker’s method.

  • Surface Carbon Shell-Functionalized ZrO2 as Nanofiller in Polymer Gel Electrolyte-Based Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells

    摘要: We prepare dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) fabricated with a poly (ethylene glycol) based polymer gel electrolytes (PGEs) incorporating surface carbon shell-functionalized ZrO2 nanoparticles (ZrO2-C) as nano?llers (NFs). ZrO2 are polymerized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) using poly (ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (POEM) as a sca?old to prepare the ZrO2-C through carbonization. The power conversion e?ciency of DSSC with 12 wt% ZrO2-C/PGEs is 5.6%, exceeding that with PGEs (4.4%). The enhanced e?ciency is attributed to Lewis acid-base interactions of ZrO2-C and poly (ethylene glycol), catalytic e?ect of the carbon shells of ZrO2-C, which results in reduced crystallinity, enhanced ion conductivity of electrolytes, decreased counterelectrode/electrolyte interfacial resistance, and improved charge transfer rate. These results demonstrate that ZrO2-C introduction to PGEs e?ectively improves the performance of DSSCs.

  • Enhancing acid, base and UV light resistance of halide perovskite CH3NH3PbBr3 quantum dots by encapsulation with ZrO2 sol

    摘要: Organic-inorganic methylammonium lead halide CH3NH3PbBr3 (MAPbBr3) perovskite quantum dots (QDs) have great potential in opto-electric devices such as solar cell, laser and light-emitting diode. The greatest challenge for halide perovskite QDs is the poor stability in the environment of air, moisture, acid, base and light illumination. Herein, we introduce a brief, feasible and ef?cient method to improve the stability of MAPbBr3 QDs through encapsulating them in ZrO2 sol framework. This three-dimensional network ZrO2 colloid forms a good coating on the surface of MAPbBr3 QDs. The ZrO2 sol protected MAPbBr3 QDs showed greatly improved acid, base and ultraviolet light illumination resistance. The photoluminescence intensity of MAPbBr3/ZrO2 nanocomposites remained at 95% of the initial value after 4.5 h in base environment and 90% after 10 h in acid environment. The detailed mechanism was discussed.

  • Improving Performance and Stability of Planar Perovskite Solar Cells through Grain Boundary Passivation with Block Copolymers

    摘要: Al2O3–ZrO2 ceramic coatings were fabricated on titanium alloy substrate by ultrasonic assisted laser cladding. The effects of ultrasonic on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the coatings are investigated through experiments. A novel laser cladding method by ultrasonic assisted is used in this paper. In this method, ultrasonic waves are directly applied on the micro-zone of molten pool. Experimental results indicated that the grain size and mechanical properties of the coatings are improved with the ultrasonic assisted. The amount of coatings cracks are decreased due to the application of ultrasonic vibration in the laser cladding.

  • Facile synthesis of novel gully-like double-sized mesoporous structural Sr-doped ZrO2–TiO2 composites with improved photocatalytic efficiency

    摘要: Using polystyrene (PS) microspheres as an auxiliary template, a kind of novel gully-like Sr-doped ZrO2–TiO2 composites with the heterogeneous structure were successfully prepared by a simple instant centrifugation with one-step hydrolysis method. The Sr-doped ZrO2–TiO2 composites consisted of the tetragonal phase ZrO2, orthogonal phase SrZrO3 and anatase phase TiO2, showing a homogeneous concave and convex shape, similared to the naturally occurring gully terrain in nature, with a double-sized mesoporous structure. The SrZrO3 was prepared by the synthetic method in this study, which provided a new reference for the subsequent synthesis of SrZrO3. At the same time, Sr-doped ZrO2–TiO2 composites showed higher photocatalytic activity compared with the monomer and non-strontium-doped TiO2-ZrO2 under multi-mode photocatalytic conditions such as ultraviolet light, visible light, and simulated sunlight. The hydrogen production of Sr-doped ZrO2–TiO2 was 2.9 times and 4.4 times higher than that of TiO2–ZrO2 and TiO2, indicating that Sr-doped played a synergistic role in photocatalytic activity experiments. Finally, by the capturing experiment of gully-like Sr-doped ZrO2–TiO2, it was confirmed that h+,·OH, O2? were active species in the photodegradation of malachite green, and the possible mechanism of the photocatalytic reaction was deduced.

  • Preparation and Its Application of TiO2/ZrO2 and TiO2/Fe Photocatalysts: A Perspective Study

    摘要: The preparation and application of TiO2/ZrO2 and TiO2/Fe photocatalysts were reviewed. We have prepared TiO2/ZrO2 and TiO2/Fe photocatalyst by sol-gel process for degradation of phenolic compounds, decolourization of dye solution and removal of heavy metals in the wastewater. ZrO2/TiO2 composite photocatalytic was produced on the pure titanium substrate using in situ Zr(OH)4 colloidal particle and the ZrO2/TiO2 composite shows a lamellar and porous structure which consists of anatase, rutile and ZrO2 phases by the micro-arc oxidation technique. TiO2 doped with Fe produced by the sol-gel method using titanium alkoxide as the precursor of titania as well as iron as dopant sources. Among synthesized photocatalysts, 0.1 M Zr and 0.15 M N supported on TiO2 exhibited the best visible-light response and the highest NO photodegradation activity. The photocatalysts calcined at 500 °C are spherical particles with a crystallite size about 10-20 nm and the crystal phase presents a mixture of anatase (dominant phase) and rutile. The optimum doping amount of iron ions is 0.001 mol %. Although the addition of iron ions decreases the surface area of Fe/TiO2, the photocatalytic activity of Fe/TiO2 (i.e., 0.001 mol %) is better than those of synthesized bare TiO2 or P25. Consequently, the role of Fe may be responsible for the enhanced photodegradation, as compared to those from P25 or synthesized bare TiO2.

  • Redox Dynamics of Pd Supported on CeO <sub/>2</sub> -ZrO <sub/>2</sub> during Oxygen Storage/Release Cycles Analyzed by Time-Resolved <i>In Situ</i> Reflectance Spectroscopy

    摘要: In situ time-resolved diffuse reflectance spectroscopy provided the redox dynamics of Pd nanoparticles supported on an oxygen storage material CeO2-ZrO2 (CZ) under lean/rich perturbation conditions. Because the reflectance at 450 nm is sensitive to the Pd oxidation state but is not affected by the redox of Ce3+/Ce4+ species of CZ, the real-time Pd redox can be monitored every second during oxygen storage/release in simulated engine combustion exhaust gas (CO–C3H6–NO–O2) corresponding to gasoline air-to-fuel ratios of 14.1 (rich) and 15.0 (lean). Although a large amount of O2 was stored by CZ upon the rich-to-lean switch, the rate of Pd oxidation during this event was found to be much more moderate compared to that with a reference catalyst, Pd/Al2O3. Because rapid oxygen uptake by CZ reduces the local O2 partial pressure near the surface, the oxidation of Pd should be retarded. This can preserve active metallic Pd and thus contribute to longer retention of high NO reduction efficiency even under the lean condition. However, the reduction of Pd oxide (PdO) upon reverse (lean-to-rich) switching occurred at a similar rate irrespective of the support material. The metallic Pd deposits near the interface with CZ promote the catalytic activation of reducing gases (CO and C3H6), resulting in significant oxygen release from CZ. The temperature dependence of the redox rate demonstrates that oxidation of metallic Pd to PdO is much slower than reduction over Pd/CZ, whereas oxidation is faster than reduction over Pd/Al2O3. The preservation of active metallic Pd under lean/rich perturbation conditions is another key role of the oxygen storage CZ co-catalyst.

  • Adapted Pechini method to prepare DSA type electrodes of RuO2-ZrO2 doped with Sb2O5 over titanium plates

    摘要: This paper describes a thermal method to obtain metal oxides on a titanium substrate surface. This adapted Pechini method is a versatile, easy to handle and scalable technique to obtain electrodes for industrial uses, such as Dimensionally Stable Anodes (DSA). This method has advantages over other thermal methods like dip coating or sputtering, as it needs a smaller amount of polymeric mixture than dip coating method to cover the same area and is less expensive than sputtering method. The thermal method described herein to prepare DSA type electrodes of RuO2-ZrO2 doped with Sb2O5 over titanium plates needs no sophisticated equipment as spray pyrolysis technique does; a muffle, ultrasonic equipment, and a hot plate magnetic stirrer are the principal apparatus necessary to carry out the adapted Pechini method. On the other hand, this method allows metal oxides to disperse homogeneously. The cyclic voltammograms showed the stability of DSA, and the accelerated life test allowed establishing its useful life (18.18 years) at a current density of 10 mA cm-2.

  • The effects of rapid thermal annealing and microwave annealing on the electrical properties of ZrO2 metal-insulator-metal capacitors

    摘要: The effects of different rapid thermal annealing (RTA) and microwave annealing (MWA) on the electrical behaviors of ZrO2 metal-insulator-metal (MIM) capacitors were studied in detail. The maximum capacitance density was achieved at 1400 W for MWA, i.e. ~29.29 fF/μm2 increased by ~40% compared with that of the un-annealed capacitors. For the capacitors under RTA at 370 oC, equivalent to the ambient of the MWA at 1400 W, the capacitance density is ~28.04 fF/μm2. Moreover, the leakage current density of ZrO2 MIM capacitors for MWA at 1400 W and RTA at 370 oC are determined to be about 3.55×10-7 A/cm2 and 1.88×10-6 A/cm2 at the applied voltage of -1.5 V, respectively. Finally, the possible mechanisms of the improved electrical properties of ZrO2 MIM capacitors through MWA were proposed.
