摘要: Hands-free browsers provide an effective tool for Web interaction and accessibility, overcoming the need for conventional input sources. Current approaches to hands-free interaction are primarily categorized in either voice or gaze-based modality. In this work, we investigate how these two modalities could be integrated to provide a better hands-free experience for end-users. We demonstrate a multimodal browsing approach combining eye gaze and voice inputs for optimized interaction, and to suffice user preferences with unimodal benefits. The initial assessment with five participants indicates improved performance for the multimodal prototype in comparison to single modalities for hands-free Web browsing.

Estimation of Flexible and Rigid Residues of Disulfide-Bridged and Phosphorylated Proteins Using Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization in-Source Decay Mass Spectrometry
摘要: Flexible and rigid residues in disul?de-bridged and phosphorylated proteins have been estimated by using MALDI in-source decay mass spectrometry (ISD MS). The MALDI-ISD spectra of bovine α-lactoalbumin, β-lactoglobulin A, and β-casein predict that the backbone amide of Xxx-Asp/Asn/Cys/Ser/pSer and Gly-Xxx residues has higher hydrogen accessibility than other residues, while Xxx-Ile/Val residues have less accessibility. The higher hydrogen-accessible and lower accessible residues as measured by MALDI-ISD are consistent with the ?exible and rigid residues determined by X-ray, nuclear magnetic resonance, and ?uorescence decay methods. The disul?de bridges and phosphate groups do not prevent the estimation of ?exible or rigid residues, whereas some other disul?de bridges inhibit the identi?cation because of decreased sensitivity of ISD fragment ions. The estimation of ?exible and rigid residues by means of the matrix-hydrogen accessibility can be explained by exposure or lack thereof to the hydrogen-accessible sites of intact proteins. It is proposed that MALDI-ISD is a powerful tool for identifying ?exible and rigid residues of posttranslational modi?ed proteins without the conformation information of the protein data bank.

摘要: Field road accessibility is an important index of cultivated land quality. In this paper, field road accessibility was defined from the perspectives of traffic capacity, and an evaluation model was constructed based on weighted network data set. The case study was carried out in Dingzhou City of Hebei Province, and GF-2 satellite images were adopted to acquire basic data including field roads and cropping plots. The results showed that, (1) Overall precision of field roads and cropping plots based on GF-2 images were above 90% and 89.13%, respectively, meeting the precision requirement for acquisition of field road accessibility; (2) Field road accessibility of the study area ranged from 0.6 to 3.7 and the plots were divided into 4 levels from high to low. The plots in Level-I area, showing strongest accessibility, were with the maximum quantity of high-level roads, and facilitate the input and output of agricultural materials; The plots in Level-II area , showing stronger accessibility, were always connected to high-level roads and middle-level roads; The plots in Level-III area, showing ordinary accessibility, were mainly linked with middle-level roads and low-level roads; The plots in Level-IV area, showing weakest accessibility, were difficult for large machines to pass through because of the low-level roads.

Automated retinal imaging and trend analysis – a tool for health monitoring
摘要: Most current diagnostic devices are expensive, require trained specialists to operate and gather static images with sparse data points. This leads to preventable diseases going undetected until late stage, resulting in greatly narrowed treatment options. This is especially true for retinal imaging. Future solutions are low cost, portable, self-administered by the patient, and capable of providing multiple data points, population analysis, and trending. This enables preventative interventions through mass accessibility, constant monitoring, and predictive modeling.

Effects of mechanical stretching, desorption and isotope exchange on deuterated eucalypt wood studied by near infrared spectroscopy
摘要: Deuterium exchange combined with near infrared spectroscopy was used to study the roles of accessible and inaccessible cellulose in the load transfer of eucalyptus wood. Monitoring the drying process helped to assign bands of deuterated wood samples. Polarized NIR spectra of protonated and deuterated samples confirmed that inaccessible hydroxyl groups in eucalyptus wood were preferably oriented in the longitudinal direction. The spectral changes on NIR spectra caused by mechanical strain could be highlighted by averaging loading and unloading cycles to compensate for effects of desorption and isotope re-exchange due to environmental fluctuations. After deuteration, the bands affected by mechanical strain at around 6420, 6240 and 4670 cm-1, which had been assigned to hydroxyl groups in cellulose, remained at these positions, suggesting the inaccessible cellulose fraction was the main load-bearing component in wood. A small band at around 4700 cm-1 responding to mechanical strain, becoming visible in the deuterated spectra, indicated that accessible hydroxyls also contributed to the load transfer. Furthermore, the measurements confirmed previous reports of moisture adsorption of wood under tensile stress.
