    摘要: In this article the strategy and analysis of a defected ground stacked elliptical patch microstrip antenna (EPMA) is presented for circular polarization (CP). This antenna gives an impedance bandwidth of 44.0% with respect to resonant frequency 1.98GHz, which is eight times greater in comparision to conventional elliptical patch microstrip antenna (EPMA) along with axial ratio bandwidth of 5.5% with reverence to frequency 1.98GHz. The antenna is studied on a Flame Retardant (FR-4) substrate having substrate permittivity 4.4 and thickness 1.59mm. The CP behaviour is observed by truncating the conventional elliptical patch and inserting slots. A square slot is also etched in ground plane at an angle of 45 degrees with respect to horizontal axis. This antenna design having a dimension of ground plane 35.0×32.0 mm2. To achieve the higher impedance bandwidth, the technique of multilayer stacked of patch is used. The over all height of antenna is 9.18mm. This antenna can be used in Long Term Evolution (LTE) and 4G Wireless Applications.

  • Compact Circularly Polarized Wearable Button Antenna with Broadside Pattern for U-NII Worldwide Band Applications

    摘要: A novel circularly polarized button antenna is proposed. The antenna is constructed on a disc shaped FR-4 substrate. This disc is located on top of a textile layer and supported by a feeding probe. The antenna works in the 5.47-5.725 GHz U-NII world wide band, with over 14% relative impedance bandwidth and over 7% relative axial ratio bandwidth. A prototype has been fabricated and measured. A good agreement is found between measured and simulated results.

  • Wideband circularly polarized magnetoelectric dipole antenna with I-slot for C-band applications

    摘要: This paper presents a circularly polarized wideband magnetoelectric dipole antenna with a defective semicircular patch for C-band applications (4–8 GHz). In the proposed design, in order to get proper impedance matching and stable gain, a pair of folded vertical patches is shorted between a pair of defective semicircular patches and minimum ground plane. The defective semicircular patches work as an electric dipole, while the vertical patches work as a magnetic dipole. The Γ-shaped single-feed structure is used to excite both dipoles together to achieve symmetrical radiation patterns. Minimum ground and the folded structure maintain the low profile of the presented design. The circular polarization is obtained by incorporating I-shaped slots in semicircular patches, extending to the lower and upper sides of the curved edges symmetrically on the both sides. A prototype was manufactured and the measured results agreed well with the simulated results. The results show an impedance bandwidth of 60.37% (S11 < ? 10 dB) from 3.71 to 6.91 GHz, 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth of 20.60% from 3.71 to 4.55 GHz and a broadside stable gain of 6 ± 0.5 dBic. The antenna also shows good radiation efficiency of around 80% over the entire operating range. Therefore, the proposed antenna can be used in 5G Wi-Fi (5.15–5.875 GHz) wireless communication systems and several C-band applications.

    摘要: In this paper, a wideband circularly polarized (CP) stacked microstrip antenna is presented. CP is achieved by using hybrid perturbation technique, where positive perturbations are applied to the driven patch and negative perturbations to the parasitic patch. The axial ratio bandwidth achieved is wider than that from typical CP patch antennas. The antenna is excited by a probe-feed without requiring any complex dual feed network to generate two equal and orthogonal modes necessary for the CP generation. This reduces the system complexity and saves space in the antenna in comparison to those with dual feeds. The antenna exhibits a simulated impedance bandwidth of (for S11 = -10 dB) 10.4%, and axial ratio (AR ~ 3 dB) bandwidth of 2.8%. The antenna demonstrates broad axial ratio beamwidth in both planes which is useful for wide angular coverage.

  • Analysis of circular polarization antenna design trade‐offs using low‐cost EM‐driven multiobjective optimization

    摘要: Circular polarization (CP) antennas are vital components of modern communication systems. Their design involves handling several requirements such as low reflection and axial ratio (AR) within the frequency range of interest. Small size is an important criterion for antenna mobility which is normally achieved as a by-product of performance-oriented modifications of the structure topology. In this work, multiobjective optimization is used in order to identify and analyze design trade-offs for miniaturized CP antenna including the antenna capability for maintaining small size while retaining acceptable levels of other performance figures. We use a population-based metaheuristic algorithm to obtain a set of designs which represent the best attainable compromise between the imposed requirements. To maintain a low optimization cost, the algorithm is executed on a cheap approximation model and the results are further corrected to bring them to the EM model accuracy level. Here, the analysis is carried out for a planar CP antenna. Achievable size reduction of the considered structure—while maintaining acceptable performance—is around 11%. Antenna performance in terms of in-band reflection and AR varies from ?14 to ?10 dB and from 1.3 to 3 dB, respectively. The numerical results are validated by measurements of fabricated antenna prototypes.
