Fuzzy neural network vibration control on a piezoelectric flexible hinged plate using stereo vision detection
摘要: Vibration control on a two-connected piezoelectric flexible hinged plate is investigated, using a fuzzy neural network algorithm based on binocular vision measurement. As for vision sensing, a method to acquire vibration signals of the low frequency bending and torsional mode is investigated. To damp out the residual vibration quickly, the fuzzy neural network is applied to ensure the stability and control effect adaptively. To verify the stereo vision measurement method and the applied controller, an experimental setup of the piezoelectric flexible hinged plate with a binocular stereo vision is constructed. Experiments are conducted by using the binocular stereo vision measurement system and the adopted controller. The experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the visual measurement method. Furthermore, the designed fuzzy neural network can attenuate the bending and torsional vibrations quickly, in comparison with proportional and derivative control, particularly for the small-level residual vibration.

Underwater Target Detection and 3D Reconstruction System Based on Binocular Vision
摘要: To better solve the problem of target detection in marine environment and to deal with the difficulty of 3D reconstruction of underwater target, a binocular vision-based underwater target detection and 3D reconstruction system is proposed in this paper. Two optical sensors are used as the vision of the system. Firstly, denoising and color restoration are performed on the image sequence acquired by the vision of the system and the underwater target is segmented and extracted according to the image saliency using the super-pixel segmentation method. Secondly, aiming to reduce mismatch, we improve the semi-global stereo matching method by strictly constraining the matching in the valid target area and then optimizing the basic disparity map within each super-pixel area using the least squares fitting interpolation method. Finally, based on the optimized disparity map, triangulation principle is used to calculate the three-dimensional data of the target and the 3D structure and color information of the target can be given by MeshLab. The experimental results show that for a specific size underwater target, the system can achieve higher measurement accuracy and better 3D reconstruction effect within a suitable distance.

Virtual binocular vision sensing and control of molten pool width for GMA additive manufactured thin-walled components
摘要: Gas metal arc (GMA) additive manufacturing (AM) is one of the significant wire and arc AM processes with the ability to produce large-scale metal parts in a layer by layer fashion. Despite this fact, techniques to realize process sensing and geometry control have not been perfectly developed. This study aims at molten pool width control in GMA AM using a passive vision sensing technique. A virtual binocular vision sensing system consisting of a biprism and a camera is designed to monitor the molten pool geometry. The molten pool width in a captured image pair is extracted by a series of procedures, such as sensor calibration, image pair rectification, disparity calculation, and width reconstruction. A verification test is conducted and reveals that the detection error of the sensing system is less than 3%. To keep consistent layer width in each layer, the deviation of the molten pool width is compensated by designing a fuzzy intelligent controller to adjust the arc current in real time. The effectiveness of the controller is evaluated via the deposition of thin-walled parts. The results indicate that the consistency of the molten pool width in GMA AM can be improved when employing the fuzzy controller.

Objective Evaluation of Visual Fatigue Using Binocular Fusion Maintenance
摘要: Purpose: In this study, we investigated whether an individual’s visual fatigue can be evaluated objectively and quantitatively from their ability to maintain binocular fusion. Methods: Binocular fusion maintenance (BFM) was measured using a custom-made binocular open-view Shack–Hartmann wavefront aberrometer equipped with liquid crystal shutters, wherein eye movements and wavefront aberrations were measured simultaneously. Transmittance in the liquid crystal shutter in front of the subject’s nondominant eye was reduced linearly, and BFM was determined from the transmittance at the point when binocular fusion was broken and vergence eye movement was induced. In total, 40 healthy subjects underwent the BFM test and completed a questionnaire regarding subjective symptoms before and after a visual task lasting 30 minutes. Results: BFM was significantly reduced after the visual task (P , 0.001) and was negatively correlated with the total subjective eye symptom score (adjusted R2 ? 0.752, P , 0.001). Furthermore, the diagnostic accuracy for visual fatigue was significantly higher in BFM than in the conventional test results (aggregated fusional vergence range, near point of convergence, and the high-frequency component of accommodative microfluctuations; P ? 0.007). Conclusions: These results suggest that BFM can be used as an indicator for evaluating visual fatigue. Translational Relevance: BFM can be used to evaluate the visual fatigue caused by the new visual devices, such as head-mount display, objectively.

摘要: In order to achieve autonomous aerial refueling, in this paper, we propose a method to solve the position and orientation of drogue based on stereo vision. The method can be mainly decomposed into three stages: initialization stage, tracking stage, and calculation stage. The pre-training model and the binocular constraint are used to initialize the position of drogue. Through the information fusion method, the position of drogue in each pair of images acquired by the binocular camera is located. After positioning the drogue, the center point of the ring region of the drogue is calculated by matching key points in binocular vision. The characteristics of this system is that it can operate simply and be easy to transplant which makes it apply widely. This system doesn’t need to add cooperation logo on the drogue, which is convenient and feasible in actual projects. The method was carried out on a pair of ABB robots, and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed method.

Unified No-Reference Quality Assessment of Singly and Multiply Distorted Stereoscopic Images
摘要: A challenging problem in no-reference quality assessment of multiply distorted stereoscopic images (MDSIs) is to simulate the monocular and binocular visual properties under a mixed type of distortions. Due to the joint effects of multiple distortions in MDSIs, the underlying monocular and binocular visual mechanisms have different manifestations with those of singly distorted stereoscopic images (SDSIs). This paper presents a unified no-reference quality evaluator for SDSIs and MDSIs by learning monocular and binocular local visual primitives (MB-LVPs). The main idea is to learn MB-LVPs to characterize the local receptive field properties of the visual cortex in response to SDSIs and MDSIs. Furthermore, we also consider that the learning of primitives should be performed in a task-driven manner. For this, two penalty terms including reconstruction error and quality inconsistency are jointly minimized within a supervised dictionary learning framework, generating a set of quality-oriented MB-LVPs for each single and multiple distortion modality. Given an input stereoscopic image, feature encoding is performed using the learned MB-LVPs as codebooks, resulting in the corresponding monocular and binocular responses. Finally, responses across all the modalities are fused with probabilistic weights which are determined by the modality-specific sparse reconstruction errors, yielding the final monocular and binocular features for quality regression. The superiority of our method has been verified on several SDSI and MDSI databases.

A Remote Free-head Pupillometry Based on Deep Learning and Binocular System
摘要: Objective. Pupillometer plays a key role in a variety of research areas, including disease diagnosis, human-machine interaction, and education. Here we set out to leverage the deep learning theory to develop a remote binocular vision system for pupil diameter estimation. Approach. The system consists of three parts: eye detection, eye tracking, and pupil diameter estimation. We ?rst train a convolutional neural network based on YOLO V2 to perform eye detection, leading to high accuracy and robustness under ambient light interference. By exploring the similarity of binocular camera images, we then propose a master-slave structure for eye tracking, surpassing the traditional parallel structure in tracking speed while keeping considerable accuracy. Furthermore, we develop a pupil diameter estimation algorithm based on binocular vision, avoiding the personal calibration procedure and reducing the measurement distortion error. Main results. Experimental results on real datasets reveal that our system exhibits state-of-the-art performance with high eye detection accuracy (90.6%), fast eye tracking speed (< 11 ms per frame), low pupil diameter estimation error ((0.022 ± 0.017) mm mean absolute error and (0.6 ± 0.7)% percentage of the mean absolute error) and excellent ?exibility. Signi?cance. In contrast with previous pupillometers, which lead to pupil diameter measurement distortion error through a 2D projection image on a single camera, our system measures pupil diameter in 3D space without distortion in?uence, thus improving its robustness to head angle variation and making it more practical for real applications.

Binocular Summation for Reflexive Eye Movements: A Potential Diagnostic Tool for Stereodeficiencies
摘要: PURPOSE. Stereoscopic vision, by detecting interocular correlations, enhances depth perception. Stereode?ciencies often emerge during the ?rst months of life, and left untreated can lead to severe loss of visual acuity in one eye and/or strabismus. Early treatment results in much better outcomes, yet diagnostic tests for infants are cumbersome and not widely available. We asked whether re?exive eye movements, which in principle can be recorded even in infants, can be used to identify stereode?ciencies. METHODS. Re?exive ocular following eye movements induced by fast drifting noise stimuli were recorded in 10 adult human participants (5 with normal stereoacuity, 5 stereode?cient). To manipulate interocular correlation, the stimuli shown to the two eyes were either identical, different, or had opposite contrast. Monocular presentations were also interleaved. The participants were asked to passively ?xate the screen. RESULTS. In the participants with normal stereoacuity, the responses to binocular identical stimuli were signi?cantly larger than those induced by binocular opposite stimuli. In the stereode?cient participants the responses were indistinguishable. Despite the small size of ocular following responses, 40 trials, corresponding to less than 2 minutes of testing, were suf?cient to reliably differentiate normal from stereode?cient participants. CONCLUSIONS. Ocular-following eye movements, because of their reliance on cortical neurons sensitive to interocular correlations, are affected by stereode?ciencies. Because these eye movements can be recorded noninvasively and with minimal participant cooperation, they can potentially be measured even in infants and might thus provide an useful screening tool for this currently underserved population.
