Frequency Hopping and Parallel Driving with Random Delay Especially Suitable for the Charger Noise Problem in Mutual-Capacitive Touch Applications
摘要: Charger noise can cause inaccurate touch points and fake touch points to appear; this can cause a device to behave incorrectly. The intensity of charger noise could be much larger than the intensities of the original touch signals. Furthermore, the frequency of charger noise varies for each different charger. Therefore, industry experts have identified charger noise as the most difficult problem in capacitive touch applications. The demand for a solution to this problem has become crucial for the mobile market. In this paper, we prove that a particular combination of frequency hopping and repeated integration is an effective method to handle the problem. In addition, we propose an efficient discrete Fourier transform (DFT)-based algorithm to select an effective sensing frequency. We propose parallel driving with random delay to enhance signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). We show an efficient hardware-software co-design that facilitates the application of our methods in touch ICs. Experimental results show that our methods can increase SNR by over 45 dB and can find an effective sensing frequency fast and dynamically.

摘要: This paper presents a universal power converter building block (PCBB) with isolation transformer which can perform various functionalities such as charging (G2V), vehicle to grid (V2G) regenerative capability, and vehicle to load (V2L) feature. This converter can output different types of voltage, such as AC or DC, high voltage or low voltage, single-phase or three-phase. With different combinations of modularized PCBB, various voltage and power rating can also be achieved. The control algorithms for each operation mode are explained, including G2V, V2G, and V2L. Simulation results are accompanied to validate its capability. To achieve high power density, SiC MOSFET power module with high frequency switching is adopted along with the isolation transformer of nanocrystalline core. Overall, this paper extends a promising circuit topology of multiple practical and essential features for vehicle electrification.

Graphene role in improved solar photocatalytic performance of TiO2-RGO nanocomposite
摘要: TiO2-RGO (TG) nanocomposite applied as photocatalysts have been synthesized via a facile low-temperature wet chemistry process, during which the reduction of graphene oxide (RGO) and the growth of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles on the RGO nanosheets are achieved simultaneously. RGO role in TG nanocomposites as photocatalysts were analyzed in methylene blue photocatalytic degradation under UV and solar irradiation. The TG nanocomposites were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The photocatalytic efficiency of the TG-30 sample under UV and TG-45 solar irradiation was ~7 and ~5 times that of pristine TiO2, respectively. The enhancement of the photocatalytic activity with UV irradiation in TG was attributed to the high separation efficiency of photoinduced electron–hole pairs, while the enhancement of photocatalytic activity with solar irradiation in the TG was attributed to RGO role, acted as a photosensitizer and a charges separator, simultaneously.

摘要: This paper proposes the design, development and implementation of ‘ePVScooter’, an electric scooter integrated with portable photovoltaic charger system and support electrical outlet charger system. This is to ensure and maximize the driving utilization performance of existing electric scooter. Hence, the ‘ePVScooter’ charger functions can divide into 2 main input, which are the portable photovoltaic charger system (maximum charging rated at 24V 2A) and the electrical outlet charger system (maximum charging rated at 36V 2A). The proposed scooter also develops and installs the main driving system at front wheel with Brushless DC electric (BLDC) motor rated at 36V 500W. The ‘folding-up’ concept of the scooter is proposed. In order to ensure its performance and operational safety, the proposed design concept is validated together with a prototype ‘ePVScooter’ and various designs. Lastly, this paper also discusses the design, development and implementation of the proposed scooter and explores the new features for the existing electric scooter.

Dynamic Energy Regulation Strategies with Multi Charging Methods for Photovoltaic Chargers
摘要: The objective of this paper is to propose a photovoltaic charger with multi charging methods and dynamic energy regulation (DER) strategies. A dc-dc boost converter with the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) feature is utilized for the PV charger. Besides, three charging methods are realized by the converter: 1) the constant current charging, 2) the pulse-ripple-current charging and 3) the sinusoidal-ripple-current charging. However, due to unpredictable environment conditions as well as non-ideal operational characteristics of the converter, the power transferred from the PV array might be fluctuated while the charging efficiency will be decreased. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to propose DER strategies for PV chargers. Four different control methods are included in the DER strategy and developed to compensate the energy loss caused by the current limitation of the PV array. Moreover, these strategies are able to prevent the circuit damage caused by non-ideal characteristics. Eventually, the stability and the charging efficiency of the PV charger system can be increased. Finally, both simulation and experimental results obtained from a 1-kW prototype circuit verify the performance and feasibility of the proposed PV charger.

Measuring Surface Pressure on Rotating Compressor Blades Using Pressure Sensitive Paint
摘要: Pressure sensitive paint (PSP) was used to measure pressure on the blades of a radial compressor with a 51 mm inlet diameter rotating at speeds up to 50 krpm using the so called lifetime method. A diode laser with a scanning-mirror system was used to illuminate the paint and the luminescent lifetime was registered using a photo multiplier. With the described technique the surface-pressure ?elds were acquired for eight points in the compressor map, useful for general understanding of the ?ow ?eld and for CFD validation. The PSP was of so called fast type, which makes it possible to observe pressure variations with frequencies up to several kHz. Through frequency spectrum analysis we were able to detect the pulsating ?ow frequency when the compressor was driven to surge.

Light-Harvesting CMOS Power-Supply System for 0–10-mW Wireless Microsensors
摘要: Wireless microsensors in consumer products, homes, hospitals, and factories incorporate sensing, processing, and transmission intelligence that can save money, energy, and lives. Although their tiny batteries deplete quickly, harvesting light energy can replenish what they supply. Still, a 1-mm2 PV cell can only generate up to 150 μW of the mW's that a wireless microsensor can consume. The battery-assisted light-powered harvester presented here therefore draws 10–130 μW from a 1 × 1-mm2 PV cell and assistance from a battery to supply a 10-mW load and recharge the battery with excess PV power. The CMOS system regulates its 1-V output within ±28 mV while supplying 10× more power per 1 mm3 with 94.5% efficiency and 38× with 87.8% efficiency than the best light-harvesting microsystem reported. Unlike others whose efficiencies peak at one power level, efficiency here is 94.5% across vPV's 10–130-μW and PLD's 0.5–10-mW with a 18-μH 3 × 3 × 1.5-mm3 inductor and 87.8% with a 22-μH 1.6 × 0.8 × 0.8-mm3 device.

摘要: Street Lighting is one of the most important and biggest energy consuming departments of the nation. On top of that, the most difficult thing is maintaining them. Consider a situation wherein the streetlight of a locality has stopped working. Now, the people of that area have to call and complain about the same and wait for days to get it repaired, leaving that area dark and socially unsafe. The proposed system consists of a Fault Detection Circuit using two photo sensors in addition with Arduino Uno microcontroller and GSM module [1], which automatically detects the fault in the streetlight. This eliminates manual complaining of the faulty streetlight and initiates sudden repair of the streetlight by the technician, which is being informed by Fault Detection Circuit via text message. Automatic turn ON and turn OFF feature has also been included using two photo sensors which turns ON the streetlight during dark hours and automatically turns OFF the streetlight during light hours. In addition to that, solar panels have been used as source for the streetlight and LED lights have been used for the emission of light, reducing the cost of electricity by 80%.
