  • Fiber optic birefringence enhanced accelerometer based on polarized modal interferometer

    摘要: An inline fiber optic birefringence enhanced accelerometer (FOBEA) which applies one polarizer and a ten-meter high birefringence fiber wrapped on a transducer cylinder is proposed. Birefringence of polarized modes in panda polarization maintaining fiber (PMF) is enhanced by fiber coating and cylinders of different parameters. Accelerometers with copper cylinder (FOBEA-1) and polyurethane cylinder (FOBEA-2) are fabricated, the tested average sensitivities are 1.06rad/g (20-3800 Hz) and 16.97 rad/g (20-2000 Hz). The experimental results show the birefringence gain of FOBEA-1 is in good consistent with theoretical calculation of 1.07 and an additional birefringence gain of FOBEA-2 is 5.52 because the polyurethane cylinder works as fiber coating with the thickness of 1.21 mm. Temperature crosstalk is also investigated.

  • Characterization of ICA for Scattering From Cylindrical Components of Vegetation

    摘要: The capability of reliably describing the electromagnetic scattering behavior by a dielectric finite cylinder is important in many applications, in particular, for microwave remote sensing of vegetated terrain. Previous lack of accurate analytical or semianalytical cylinder scattering model has led to the popularity of the infinite cylinder approximation (ICA) approach even at present. Yet, the performance of ICA has not been systematically quantitatively characterized in the literature. This letter fills in the gap, and demonstrates that ICA leaves much to be desired in many aspects.

    摘要: This paper reports a new type of wearable motion capture device. Presented motion capture device can detect the motion of fingers of an operator. This device has been equipped with an air cylinder as an actuator which is to be developed for a force sense presentation. We employed a displacement detection sensor for motion capture, since it is a good combination with an air cylinder. The dimensions of the proposed device were 90mm×225mm×80mm. We evaluated the performance of the sensor integrated into this device and confirmed the important role of the sensor as a hand motion capture function.

  • Geometrical Theory of Diffraction Formulation for On-Body Propagation

    摘要: A Geometrical Theory of Diffraction model for on-body propagation is developed in the article. The exact solution to the canonical problem of a plane wave incident on an in?nitely long cylinder, with arbitrary constitutive parameters, is found. The same is done for a magnetic and an electric in?nitesimal dipole source of any orientation, located on the surface of the cylinder. The exact solutions are transformed with the Watson transformation to yield asymptotic expressions that are valid in the deep shadow region. These asymptotic expressions are validated by comparison to the numerically evaluated exact solution. It is found that the expressions are valid as long as the object is opaque, with a geometry down to the size κ2+τ 2 > λ0/2, and the rays not too torsional τ /κ < 2, where κ and τ are the curvature and torsion of the local geometry, respectively. The asymptotic expressions are found to approximate the exact solution signi?cantly better than the asymptotic expression of an equivalent perfect electric conductor geometry. The same is the case for the impedance boundary condition asymptotic approximation for low dielectric constant materials. Finally, the asymptotic expressions are generalized so they can be applied to any convex geometry of the human body or an opaque lossy dielectric of electrically large size.

    摘要: In this paper, we demonstrate that the solid cylinder dielectric resonator antenna (CDRA) is a high radiation efficient device to generate orbital angular momentum (OAM) waves with different OAM modes at different frequencies. Theoretical formulations of its radiation fields are deduced in the cylindrical coordinate system, which shows that all components of the electric and magnetic fields have the azimuth dependence of ejm?. A full-wave simulation on a practical size CDRA is then implemented to validate the theoretical derivations. The simulation results show that different separated OAM modes can be obtained at different frequencies. Specifically, the higher order OAM modes are generated at higher electron magnetic modes, which makes CDRA a promising method to overcome the narrow band and multiband issues existing in the design of current OAM devices. Furthermore, a maximum radiation efficiency of 97.1% at 13.3 GHz, and a minimum radiation efficiency of 72.4% at 19.45 GHz are obtained in our simulation, which is a high radiation efficiency feature at the OAM resonant frequencies.

  • The Method of Integral Equations in Problems of Wave Diffraction in Waveguides

    摘要: This paper studies the propagation of steady-state oscillations in an irregular rectangular waveguide. The irregularity of the waveguide is caused by the presence inside it of a metallic inclusion in the form of a cylindrical inductive cylinder. To solve the problem in a complete electrodynamic formulation, it is necessary to investigate the boundary problem for the system of Maxwell equations. To study the waveguide system consisting of a waveguide with a well-conducting inclusion, the method of integral equations was applied. The cores of the integral equations are defined through the Green functions of the unfilled waveguide, written in terms of the waveguide modes. Algorithms for their calculation are developed on the basis of the selection of a logarithmic singularity, and algorithms for summing up the series belonging to them are created. The possibilities of the method of integral equations are illustrated with examples of calculating the reflection and transmission coefficients from inductive pins.

Analysis of array RCS performed with di?erent number of array elements pairs N, cylinder radius, aperture size, array spacing, and waveguides lengths.

  • Decoration Cylinder Pressure and it’s Influence on the Hue Variation of Ceramic Tiles Decorated by the Laser Engraving Silicone Cylinder Method

    摘要: Several factors can influence the hue variation of tiles through contact elements; the pressure on the surface to be decorated is an important feature. This paper studied this variable applied to decoration by silicone cylinders. A variation of height was made between the cylinder and the tile. The influence of the feature is linked to cylinder wear and distance decrease. The reflectance, as well as the shape and filling of the decorated dots of gray scale values (5, 25 and 85%) were analyzed; the heights studied were 0.8; 1.0; 1.3 and 1.5mm. A similar behavior was observed in the engraving studied; in low shades of gray the reflectance decreases with increasing pressure and then becomes directly proportional; in the middle and high tones range the general trend was an increase in reflectance with increasing pressure on the ceramic tile.

  • Revisiting the electroelastic solution for an FGPM thick-walled cylinder subjected to mechanical and electric loadings

    摘要: Theoretical analysis for an empty thick-walled FGPM cylinder exposed to electric and mechanical loadings are investigated. The cylinder is a composite material composed of PZT4 and PVDF and the volume fraction of PZT4 is given by the power law with three controllable parameters which can cover more complex circumstances. The hypergeometric equation of the radial displacement is acquired by utilizing the Voigt method, and the solutions of the stresses and the electric potential are obtained after solving the radial displacement. The method in this paper is appropriate for real functionally graded piezoelectric materials and can avoid assumptions about unknown overall material parameters appeared in previous references. Finally, the impacts of the parameter n in volume fraction of FGPM cylinder on mechanical and electric behaviors are examined. Furthermore, the distinction between the hoop stress and radial stress is discussed to decrease the pressure concentration in FGPM cylinder.
