摘要: We design and fabricate ultrasmall silicon waveguide lenses designed by a wavefront-matching (WFM) method by a standard CMOS process. It is experimentally demonstrated that a low-loss several micron free-space light propagation is possible by using the waveguide lens designed by the WFM method.

Systematic Analysis and Design of Water Networks With Solar Photovoltaic Energy
摘要: The methodology presented in this article tries to make a water-energy auditing so as to design the same water network characteristics but being supplied by photovoltaic (PV). We identify which data would be required to define the most effective process to follow in order to reach better water and energy consumption efficiency rates. An analytical approach that deals with the optimal sizing of a solar pumping system in direct current microgrid is proposed. This means the combination among a solar PVs system, a storage system, and a converter system that deals with the energy harvesting and charging the batteries used for supporting the pumping water system. The methodology has been validated by two real pumping systems of Zarautz distribution network (Basque Country region). It has been modeled and tested under four scenarios. The results of the simulations carried out have clearly demonstrated both the feasibility and the savings achieved, in terms of the environmental and economic assessment. This will help the water distribution managers to take more informed decisions and design cost-effective strategies while contributing with more sustainable cities.

Design and implementation of reconfigurable MPPT fuzzy controller for photovoltaic systems
摘要: Since, photovoltaic (PV) systems are currently very expensive, many scientific studies are being conducted to maximize the power such systems deliver. The best solution suggested so far consists of integrating the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) with the PV power systems. The present paper proposes to use the fuzzy logic technique in the actual implementation of the MPPT controller. The system includes a photovoltaic panel, a boost converter and an fuzzy logic controller. This system is designed, executed and tested under variable environmental constraints and using several technologies. A comparison between these different technologies is made. The findings of the experiments demonstrate an efficient operation of the FPGA-based PV system.

Photon Management in Perovskite Solar Cells
摘要: Metal-halide perovskites as absorber materials for solar cells have captured the attention of an increasing number of scientists over the last years. As is common for most photovoltaic technologies, early stages of solar cell development were dedicated to understanding and tuning the properties of materials and interfaces in the perovskite-based solar cells to ensure efficient charge separation and suppress unwanted recombination channels. However, when photovoltaic technologies become more mature, the design of optical properties of materials, interfaces, and complete device stacks becomes increasingly important in order to come even closer to the efficiency limits dictated by thermodynamics. This Viewpoint is dedicated to briefly discuss how photons can be absorbed more efficiently, be reused, be distributed between different cells in tandem devices, and finally be used as a means to characterize the electronic properties of materials and interfaces. More detailed discussions of these topics can then be found in a series of Perspective articles on topics related to the optical properties and the optical design of perovskite-based solar cells that are introduced in this Viewpoint.

摘要: With the aim to tackle the problem that the complex composite curves can not be constructed by using a single curve, the geometric continuity conditions for H-Bézier curves of degree n with shape parameter are investigated. The H-Bézier curves of degree n not only inherit the major properties of the classical Bézier curve of degree n, but also have a prominent performance on adjusting their shapes by changing shape parameter. Based on the analysis of the basis functions and the necessary and sufficient conditions of G1 and G2 geometric continuity between two adjacent H-Bézier curves of degree n are proposed. Modeling examples provided show that the derived continuity conditions are effective and hence can greatly enhances problem-solving abilities in complex curves design by using H-Bézier curves.

摘要: This paper proposes a novel in-vivo robotic laparoscopic camera design with an optimized illumination system, which is a crucial component for achieving high imaging quality. The robotic camera design with three extendable wings can reserve sufficient on-board space to harbor the optimized illumination system without affecting the compactness of the camera. We contribute a freeform optical lens design method and develop three miniature optical lenses for the LEDs to achieve greater than 95% illumination uniformity, greater than 14, 000 lx illuminance on a target plane with a distance of 100 mm, and greater than 89% optical efficiency. The prototype is implemented and experimentally tested, which demonstrates great performance of the in-vivo robotic laparoscopic camera and the significance of the optimized illumination system.

摘要: In this paper, a low-cost patch antenna with circular polarization using a FR4 substrate is proposed. The antenna was developed to be used in US standard UHF RFID application, with better impedance matching at 915MHz. The design was concepted and optimized through simulations using the ANSYS HFSS software. The simulation results presented an absolute gain of 5.76dB, an axial ratio of 1.87dB and the return loss (S11) of 48dB at 915MHz. The antenna was manufactured and measurements of the return loss using the Keysight Vector Network Analyzer were made to compare with the simulation results. Furthermore, it was compared to a commercial antenna by reading a commercial tag using a RFID reader in order to validate the proposed antenna application.

A green single-tube sample preparation method for wear metal determination in lubricating oil by microwave induced plasma with optical emission spectrometry
摘要: A straightforward and rapid single-tube sample pretreatment for wear metals determination in used lubricating oils was developed in this work as an alternative to the reference pretreatment method (ASTM). A D-optimal mixture design on a three-component solution was performed. The optimal composition for the proposed sample preparation emulsion was 2 % v/v of xylene, 9.5 % v/v of Triton?X-114 and 88.5 % v/v of H2O. The determination of 18 wear metals was carried out by microwave induced plasma with optical emission spectrometer (MIP OES), and the results of the two sample preparations - conventional and proposed- were statistically compared. Also, a certified standard “wear metals in used lubricating oils” for pretreatment validation was used. The developed method was as effective as the reference method indicated by ATSM, similar in speed and simplicity, but superior from the environmental and economic point of view. The proposed pretreatment allowed Ag, Al, Ba, Ca, Cd, Cr, Cu, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, Si, Sn, Ti, V and Zn determination, with LOQ between 1.40 mg kg-1 for Ca and 6.34 mg kg-1 for Pb. The precisions established as the relative standard deviation (RSD) were better than 6.2%. The proposed method avoid sample handling, reducing contamination risks and analyte losses, affording significantly improvement on wear metal quantification.

Empirical design of slot-die having shallow reservoir for thin-film printed electronics
摘要: Slot-die coating plays an important role in printed electronics, which are fabricated by stacking thin films and patterns. As electronic devices are being required to have higher performance, the importance of coating uniformity cannot be overestimated in the slot-die coating. The coating uniformity consists of two directions: nozzle direction, which is affected by the interior design of the head, and machine direction, which is majorly related to exterior operating conditions. In this research, the empirical design procedure of a slot-die head is proposed. The internal resistance values of the slot-die were calculated using the experimental parameter obtained through a coating experiment, and the acquired resistances were reflected in the modeling of the interior design of the slot-die head. The hanger type reservoir was adapted to minimize the consumption of ink. After fabricating the slot-die head, coating experiments were carried out using PEDOT:PSS ink. The resulting deviation of the coating thickness was within ±1.7%, thus proving that the proposed design predicted the uniformity of the actual thickness of the coating correctly. The significance of the slot-die design method presented in this paper is that it is based on the experimental equation that can be readily applied to the printed electronics industry.
