  • Optimization of LED Lighting for Clinical Settings

    摘要: The advent of the LED light source has promoted the concept of human-centric lighting (HCL). The LED has also been responsible for increases in the electrical e?ciency of lighting systems, coupled with recent improvements in their colour properties. We have found that it is also possible to create a lit environment with enhanced clinical attributes by providing a source spectrum that meets the requirements of the Cyanosis Observation Index (COI). This paper describes the use of a di?erential evolution (DE) algorithm for the spectral design of a mixed LED light source capable of meeting COI recommendations as well as HCL performance criteria.

    摘要: In this study, we introduce a novel approach for designing an unidirectional transmission device by using a photonic crystal (PC) structure that exhibits the properties of epsilon-mu-near-zero media. The selected PC structure consists of dielectric rods and positions of certain preselected rods in y-direction are optimized via an evolutionary algorithm to obtain the unidirectional transmission of light. Finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method is used to perform numerical analyses for the proposed device. In addition, experiments are carried out at microwave frequencies to demonstrate the unidirectional light transmission. It is shown that a good agreement between numerical calculations and experimental measurements is achieved.

  • Multi-Party Energy Management and Economics of Integrated Energy Microgrid with PV/T and CHP system

    摘要: Focusing on electricity and thermal energy requirement of contemporary buildings, a joint operation of photovoltaic thermal (PV/T) based prosumers and a Microturbine based combined heat and power (CHP) system has been presented to analyse the economics of grid-connected microgrid (MG) system. Bidirectional flow of electricity and heat model is considered and is optimally managed using price-based demand response (DR) scheme. Thermal storage is exploited to ward off the substantial amount of heat wastages that enhance the system's reliability during any disruption of microturbine. The objective functions of both prosumer and microgrid operator (MGO) are formulated as a profit maximization problem where they interact with each other on the basis of DR activity. To establish this strategic decision-making process, the system is modelled as a Stackelberg Equilibrium (SE) game, where MGO acts as a leader while PV/T prosumers act as a follower. The interaction or contribution of two players in a game is a problem of non-linear optimization which is solved by Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm. In the end, in a case study, it has been proved that the results are quite lucrative for the proposed model.

  • Restoration of stable voltage in an isolated hybrid solar power system with combined JAYA-DE algorithm

    摘要: This work discusses the implementation of JAYA-DE algorithm with Static Var Compensator for optimum voltage control through Reactive Power compensation inside solar based hybrid power system.The stability aspect of isolated solar based hybrid power system is enhanced through compensation of the reactive power by optimized SVC and are further analyzed with different stability criterion. The dynamic performance of the new hybrid technique under intermittent wind power input and variable load show superiority over the conventional control methods.

  • Beamforming Optimization for Time-Modulated Circular-Aperture Grid Array with DE Algorithm

    摘要: This paper put forward a method of numerical optimization for the circular-aperture time-modulated grid array. The amplitude weight and time modulation pulse width are optimized based on differential evolution algorithm to get the needed array pattern. Adopting the weighting mode of conventional rectangular array, the equivalent weighting of circular-aperture time-modulated array is decomposed into two independent components respectively in horizontal and vertical direction, so to shorten the length of optimization vector from M×N order to M+N order. Besides, the circular-aperture time-modulated array is symmetrically excited in horizontal and vertical direction. The numerical experiments show that differential evolution algorithm can realize sidelobe level of -35dB and nulling level of -60dB in the patterns of the center frequency and one chosen sideband, and the unexploited sidebands are also suppressed with their peak level lower than -35dB. Meanwhile the dynamic range of the amplitude weighting and time modulation pulse width can be limited in 10dB. The overall efficiency of the time-modulated array is 0.28.

  • Hybrid differential evolution algorithms for the optimal camera placement problem

    摘要: Purpose – This paper aims to investigate to what extent hybrid differential evolution (DE) algorithms can be successful in solving the optimal camera placement problem. Design/methodology/approach – This problem is stated as a unicost set covering problem (USCP) and 18 problem instances are de?ned according to practical operational needs. Three methods are selected from the literature to solve these instances: a CPLEX solver, greedy algorithm and row weighting local search (RWLS). Then, it is proposed to hybridize these algorithms with two hybrid DE approaches designed for combinatorial optimization problems. The ?rst one is a set-based approach (DEset) from the literature. The second one is a new similarity-based approach (DEsim) that takes advantage of the geometric characteristics of a camera to ?nd better solutions. Findings – The experimental study highlights that RWLS and DEsim-CPLEX are the best proposed algorithms. Both easily outperform CPLEX, and it turns out that RWLS performs better on one class of problem instances, whereas DEsim-CPLEX performs better on another class, depending on the minimal resolution needed in practice. Originality/value – Up to now, the ef?ciency of RWLS and the DEset approach has been investigated only for a few problems. Thus, the ?rst contribution is to apply these methods for the ?rst time in the context of camera placement. Moreover, new hybrid DE algorithms are proposed to solve the optimal camera placement problem when stated as a USCP. The second main contribution is the design of the DEsim approach that uses the distance between camera locations to fully bene?t from the DE mutation scheme.

    摘要: Most of the previous circuit analog (CA) absorbers only consider the normal incidence. In this paper, a novel wideband absorber consisting of two dimensional array of conductive crossed dipoles with lumped resistors and a well-designed dielectric, working as the wide-angle impedance matching (WAIM) layer, is presented. Results show that the absorption under oblique transverse electrical (TE) incidence can be markedly improved due to the WAIM layer. Equivalent circuit (EC) and strict formula derivation are proposed to make the design more clear and straightforward. Evolutionary algorithm, to be specific, the differential evolution, is used to speed up the optimization process. The final results obtained by EC and simulation software show that the absorber offers the 10-dB reflection reduction bandwidth of at least 109.6%(2.6-8.9 GHz) when the angle of TE incidence is less than 60 degrees.

  • Asymmetric light transmission effect based on an evolutionary optimized semi-Dirac cone dispersion photonic structure

    摘要: In this paper, we present the numerical and experimental demonstration of asymmetric light transmission by a compact photonic crystal (PC) structure, which sustains semi-Dirac cone dispersion. The semi-Dirac point is obtained by exploiting plane-wave expansion method in a rectangular unit cell of a cylindrical dielectric rod, forming a PC structure. The preselected part of the corresponding PC structure is optimized via differential evolution to maximize the transmission efficiency in one direction, and to minimize in the opposite direction. In this regard, finite-difference time-domain method is integrated with the optimization algorithm to numerically design a compact PC structure with asymmetric light transmission effect. The detailed numerical investigation of the optimized PC structure is represented, and the experiments in the microwave regime are performed to verify the numerical results. The experimentally measured transmission efficiency reaches 78% for one direction, whereas in the opposite direction it reduces to 11%. The physical mechanism of asymmetric light transmission is related to differences of the projection of the wave incident from both directions into the eigenmodes of the photonic structure.
