  • A printed dual-band dipole filtenna with flexible frequency ratio and improved band-notched performance

    摘要: A printed dual-band dipole filtenna with flexible frequency ratio and improved band-notched performance is proposed. It consists of a driven dipole and three parasitic elements. For the driven dipole with short and long arms, a radiation null is found between two passbands, which achieves a band-notched filtering characteristic. Two parasitic elements are introduced to enhance the passband bandwidth and an additional parasitic element is utilized to improve the band-notched performance. In addition, the characteristics of the proposed design including flexible frequency ratio, independent controllable operating frequency, and controllable band-notched bandwidth have also been demonstrated. A filtenna prototype is fabricated and tested. Measured results show that a fractional bandwidth of 21.1% and 18.1% is obtained in the lower and upper passbands, respectively. The measured efficiency is 84% in the lower band and 74% in the upper band but the efficiency sharply decreases to about 13% within the notched band.

  • A dual-band efficient circularly polarized rectenna for RF energy harvesting systems

    摘要: A multilayered circularly polarized (CP), dual-band, stacked slit-/slotted-patch antenna with compact size and with compact rectifier is offered for RF energy harvesting systems. The compact dual-band CP antenna size is able to achieve by stacking slotted-circular-patch (SCP) on the substrate above the tapered-slit-octagon patch (TSOP). Dual-band CP radiation is realized by stacking the SCP on the TSOP and the microstrip feedline with metallic-via to SCP. Eight-tapered-slit with length difference of 6.25% are embedded along the octagonal directions symmetrically on the TSOP from the patch's center and two unequal size circular slots are embedded in diagonal axis onto SCP to produce dual-orthogonal modes with almost equal magnitude for CP waves. The designed antenna is realized measured gain of greater than 5.2 dBic across the band (0.908-0.922 GHz) with maximum gain of 5.41 dBic at 0.918 GHz and gain of greater than 6.14 dBic across the band (2.35-2.50 GHz) with maximum gain of 7.94 dBic at 2.485 GHz. An overall antenna volume is 0.36λo × 0.36λo × 0.026λo (λo is free space wavelength at 0.9 GHz). A compact composite right-/left-handed (CRLH) based rectifier with dual-band at 0.9 and 2.45 GHz is designed, prototyped, and measured. The right-handed (RH) part of the CRLH transmission line (TL) is formed by a microstrip line. The left-handed (LH) part of the CRLH-TL is formed by lumped components. The measured RF-DC conversion efficiency is 43% at 0.9 GHz and 39% at 2.45 GHz with rectifier size of 0.18λo × 0.075λo × 0.0002λo at 0.9 GHz.

  • Design of High Temperature Superconducting Dual-Band Filter with Multiple Transmission Zeros

    摘要: A multi-order dual-band high temperature superconducting (HTS) bandpass filter (BPF) with multiple transmission zeros (TZs) is designed in this paper. The theoretical characteristics of the introduction of TZs by the electric and magnetic mixed coupling, and the cascade quadruplet (CQ) cross-coupling structures are analyzed, respectively. These two methods can be applied to the design of the multi-mode compact dual-band HTS BPF with controllable central frequency, bandwidth and TZs. For demonstration, a Y-shape tunable resonator structure which can simultaneously implement the internal electric and magnetic mixed coupling, and the external cross coupling is constructed to achieve the proposed dual-band BPF. The external quality factors required by the two passbands and the feasibility of independently adjusting the coupling strength between adjacent resonators are analyzed. Finally, a 6-order dual-band HTS BPF with the center frequencies of 1490MHz (bandwidth of 40 MHz) and 2340MHz (bandwidth of 80 MHz) is designed and fabricated on the double-sided YBCO/MgO/YBCO HTS thin films with the size of 17.2mm×14.7mm (0.20λg × 0.17λg), and there are multiple of TZs located outside the two passbands, respectively. The out-of-band rejections are greatly improved to 70dB and 80dB due to these TZs, which fully exhibits the advantages of the proposed dual-band BPF. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulated ones.

    摘要: Nowadays, evolving an advanced technology for the next generation of wireless cellular communication networks has put a great interest for researchers over the world. This aim is to accomplish the growing demand for advanced data rates. The fifth generation (5G) promises more advantages and benefits to the world. It will create an essential difference over 4G. The design of 5G antenna providing broad bandwidth is very important to ensure the performance of 5G networks. In this paper, microstrip antennas array of single, two, four and six elements dual-band (28/38GHz) for 5G applications are discussed. The proposed antennas are printed on 1.575 mm-thick Rogers Duroid 5880 substrate with dielectric constant of εr= 2.2 and loss tangent (tan δ) of 0.0009. They consist of a triangular shaped radiating patch fed by a 50 ? microstrip line. The antenna bandwidth is furthered by etching the triangular shaped slot on the ground plane. The highest gain is provided by the antenna with six elements array for both frequencies. The maximum gain of 7.47 dBi with return loss of -30.70 dB at 28 GHz and 12.1 dBi with return loss of -34.5 dB at 38 GHz are obtained.

  • High-<formula><tex>$T_\rm{c}$</tex></formula> Superconducting Fourth-Harmonic Mixer using a Dual-Band Terahertz On-Chip Antenna of High Coupling Efficiency

    摘要: This paper presents a dual-band on-chip antenna coupled high-Tc superconducting (HTS) Josephson-junction sub-terahertz (THz) fourth-harmonic mixer. The antenna utilizes a couple of different structured twin-slots to enable the resonant radiations at two frequencies, and integrates a well-designed coplanar waveguide (CPW) network for achieving good radiation coupling and signal isolation characteristics. The electromagnetic (EM) simulations show that coupling efficiencies as high as -4 dB and -3.5 dB are achieved for the 160-GHz and 640-GHz operating frequency bands, respectively. Based on this dual-band antenna, a 640-GHz HTS fourth-harmonic mixer is developed and characterized in a range of operating temperatures. The mixer exhibits a measured conversion gain of around -18 dB at 20 K and -22 dB at 40 K respectively. The achieved intermediate-frequency (IF) bandwidth is larger than 23 GHz. These are the best results reported for HTS harmonic mixers at comparable sub-THz frequency bands to date.

  • X/Ku Dual-Band Single-Layer Reflectarray Antenna

    摘要: X/Ku dual-band single-layer reflectarray antenna is presented. The proposed reflectarray antenna operates in two separated bands with separate feeds. The reflectarray element is composed of a split ring with two phase delay lines and a phoenix patch. The split ring and phoenix patch are designed for operation at X- and Ku- bands, respectively. The split ring is selected as the lower frequency element because of the large enough internal space. The phase shift of these two elements does not depend on variation of external size, which provides a feasible method for designing dual-band elements. The lower-band phase shift is obtained by changing the rotation angle of the phase delay lines. The movement of the inner loop of phoenix patch provides the required phase shift for the higher band. The proposed element realizes 360° phase shift range in both bands. The reflectarray is fabricated and measured to validate the design. The measured gains are 22.9 dBi at 8.5GHz with aperture efficiency of 40%, and 28.8 dBi at 16GHz with aperture efficiency of 44.8%. Besides, the 1 dB gain bandwidths are 20.5%(7.9GHz-9.7GHz) at lower band and 13.3 %(14.7GHz-16.8GHz) at higher band.

  • 12- and 21-GHz Dual-band Dual-circularly Polarized Offset Parabolic Reflector Antenna Fed by Microstrip Antenna Arrays for Satellite Broadcasting Reception

    摘要: In December 2018, satellite broadcasting for 4K/8K ultra-high-definition television (UHDTV) will begin in Japan. It will be provided in the 12-GHz (11.7 to 12.75 GHz) band with right- and left-hand circular polarizations. BSAT-4a, a satellite used for broadcasting UHDTV, was successfully launched in September 2017. This satellite has not only 12-GHz-band right- and left-hand circular polarization transponders but also a 21-GHz-band experimental transponder. The 21-GHz (21.4 to 22.0 GHz) band has been allocated as the downlink for broadcasting satellite service in ITU-R Regions 1 (Europe, Africa) and 3 (Asia Pacific). To receive services provided over these two frequency bands and with dual-polarization, we implement and evaluated a dual-band and dual-circularly polarized parabolic reflector antenna fed by 12- and 21-GHz-band microstrip antenna arrays with a multilayer structure. The antenna is used to receive 12- and 21-GHz-band signals from in-orbit satellites. The measured and experimental results prove that the proposed antenna performs as a dual-polarized antenna in those two frequency bands and has sufficient performance to receive satellite broadcasts.

  • DESIGN OF DUAL- AND QUAD-BAND E-CRLH-TLS WITH ARBITRARY PHASE CHARACTERISTICS

    摘要: In this paper, extended composite right/left-handed (E-CRLH) transmission line (TL) metamaterial structures, with two left-handed (backward) and two right-handed (forward) pass bands, are investigated. Also, design procedures in order to design dual- and quad-band E-CRLH-TLs are presented in detail and the parameters of these structures are extracted by clean formulas, while satisfying arbitrary phase shifts at the operating frequencies. Finally, the dispersion and characteristic impedances of these transmission lines are derived and plotted. The results of this paper can be applied to any type of TL-based dual- and quad-band microwave component.

    摘要: In this work, numerical and experimental analyses of a dual-band microstrip patch dipole-loop antenna are done. This design operates at amateur radio, amateur satellite (2.3-2.4 GHz) band and planned 5G mobile communication band; 3.4-3.8 GHz frequencies. There are two different radiating structures and regions in this antenna. One of the radiating structure is a rectangle shaped loop which is responsible for operation at lower frequency (2.3-2.4 GHz) and the other structure is a printed dipole which is responsible for operation of the upper (3.4-3.6 Hz) frequency. Apart from different operation frequencies, these structures also illustrates different radiation characteristics. The loop shaped region radiates bi-directional broadside radiation while the dipole part radiates with higher gain (peak gain 5 dBi). Proposed design is validated by High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) and also measurements are carried out on fabricated prototype.

    摘要: A compact LIS-band circularly polarized (CP) antenna over the reactive impedance surface (RIS) is designed, fabricated, and measured. This dual-band CP antenna is excited by two probes and fed by two grounded coplanar waveguides. The CP radiation with very compact antenna size is achieved by stacking a square ring slotted truncated corner square patch and a truncated corner square patch over the RIS. The measured results show that the 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth of the antenna is 0.9% (1.787-1.803 GHz) for the lower band and 1.1% (2.685-2.715 GHz) for the upper band, while the 10-dB return loss bandwidth is 5.9% (1.746-1.852 GHz) and 7.3% (2.586-2.784 GHz), respectively. The antenna gain at boresight is 1.9 dBic for the lower band, and 1.94 dBic for the upper band. The overall volume of the dual-band CP antenna is 0.235 x 0.235 x 0.042λ at 1.765 GHz.
