  • Evaluating economic feasibility and maximization of social welfare of photovoltaic projects developed for the Brazilian northeastern coast: An attribute agreement analysis

    摘要: Recently, renewable energy projects, such as photovoltaic systems, have become interesting generation alternatives thanks to the incentive strategies developed by several countries. For the user of photovoltaic microgeneration, there is interest in the financial return of the investment, which is most often financed by public banks with a limited budget. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze variables related both to the point of view of the investor in microgeneration and to the public banks that subsidize them. However, defining the configuration of photovoltaic systems that guarantees the economic feasibility for those who invest without excessively burdening the public resource is a complex task and requires the analysis of different experts. To fill this gap, this paper proposes an innovative approach for evaluating photovoltaic projects based on Attribute Agreement Analysis. Experts on photovoltaic systems with different profiles and experience were asked about 16 scenarios, planned according to a factorial design with four factors: installed power capacity, PV cell type, debt ratio, and loan interest rate. The results demonstrated that the proposed approach fulfills the objective of simultaneously assessing the impact of investments in photovoltaic systems, considering the investors’ and public banks’ viewpoints. In the case analyzed, although the evaluations are performed in a judicious way (Wwithin> 0.85), there is a low agreement between the experts (Woverall < 0.70). In addition, an expert bias was observed regarding loan interest for economic feasibility (W ? 0.61), as well as a controversial perception of the maximization of social welfare (W ? 0.2361). The Net Present Value profile, determined by the installed power capacity of the system, was used with these results to discuss the current Brazilian renewable energy financing policy. The results supported that experts tend to overestimate the impact of the financing interest rate on financial returns.

  • Economic feasibility of solar power plants based on PV module with levelized cost analysis

    摘要: In this study, the cost analysis of solar power system, where is located in Elaz??, Turkey is calculated according to levelized cost analysis method. In the economic feasibility studies carried out by the firms, many parameters such as interest rates, cost of money, detailed sunshine duration, monthly net profit-loss status in one year, cost of investment according to changing interest rates are not taken into consideration. All these parameters, which were not considered by the firms, have been calculated in this study. The payback period of investing in the solar power plant is calculated as 13 years, the payback period of it is calculated as an average of 6.6 years by the firms. The annual profit of a 1 MW solar energy plant is 89,467 US $. Present worth and annual capital cost of the solar power plant are calculated as 1,156,763 US $ and 1,181,875 US $, respectively. The capital cost flow of the investing in solar power plant is determined as 5.628 US $/h. When the results obtained from this study are evaluated in a general framework, the high interest rates in developing countries will have a negative effect on the investments in the solar power plants.

  • Return of Interest Planning for Photovoltaics Connected with Energy Storage System by Considering Maximum Power Demand

    摘要: In this study, a general building of medium size with an Energy Storage Systems (ESS)-connected Photovoltaic (PV) system (energy storage system that is connected to a photovoltaic system) was chosen to develop a tool for a better economic evaluation of its installation and use. The newly obtained results, from the revised economic evaluation algorithm that was proposed in this study, showed the e?ective return of investment period (ROI) would be 8.62 to 12.77 years. The ratio of maximum power demand to contract demand and the falling cost of PVs and ESS was the factors that could a?ect the ROI. While using the cost scenario of PVs and ESS from 2019 to 2024, as estimated by the experts, the ROI was signi?cantly improved. The ROI was estimated to be between 4.26 to 8.56 years by the year 2024 when the cost scenario was considered. However, this result is obtained by controlling the ratio of maximum power demand to contract demand. Continued favorable government policies concerning renewable energy would be crucial in expanding the supply and investment in renewable energy resources, until the required ROI is attained.

  • Environmental benefits and economic feasibility of a photovoltaic assisted heat pump water heater

    摘要: This work presents a techno-economic study which evaluates the environmental benefits and the economic feasibility of a photovoltaic assisted compact heat pump water heater. The system heats water for domestic consumption in a 190 litres tank. The heat pump is simultaneously powered by the grid and PV panels, although the system was designed to prioritize the PV energy supply. The system does not use batteries and does not feed electricity to the grid. Based on experimental measurements during one year, the study analyses the efficiency of the system for a 4 family members domestic hot water (DHW) consumption. The experimental data shows that the system is friendly to the grid, showing low peak loads and not feeding to the grid. A techno-economic analysis which considers the lifetime cost of the system as well as its environmental benefits has been carried out. The techno-economic analysis shows the benefits of this system when it is compared to: a DHW heat pump without PV, an electrical heater, a boiler and a boiler + solar thermal collectors. The total annualized cost of the system, for a period of 25 years and an electricity price of 0.2 €/kWh, has been quantified at 337 €/year. Furthermore, the system has been found to reduce the non-renewable primary energy consumption by 79% and the CO2 emissions by 82% in comparison with a boiler. Finally, experimental correlations of the system performance are proposed, so that the results of this work can be extended to other locations with similar climates.

  • An Evaluation of the Effect on the Expansion of Photovoltaic Power Generation According to Renewable Energy Certificates on Energy Storage Systems: A Case Study of the Korean Renewable Energy Market

    摘要: As part of efforts to cope with climate change, countries around the world have decided to supply photovoltaic (PV) power. However, since the integration of PV affects the reliability and stability of a power system, increasing the penetration of PV generation requires better system flexibility. For this reason, many countries have recently established policies to disseminate energy storage systems (ESS). In this paper, we aim to evaluate the effectiveness of policies regarding ESS as a way to increase PV integration. We analyzed whether the policies were effective in spreading ESS to eventually increase PV integration. To do this, we first described the Korean government’s policy of establishing a profit structure for ESS through the Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) market and analyzed its effects on economic feasibility. We also analyzed how much the investment in ESS for PV integration has risen and assessed the contribution of spreading ESS to disseminate PV power. We found that ESS for the integration of PV have grown to a 41.0% share of Korea’s ESS market in kW, and 32.8% in kWh, while expanding the PV market by 13.7%.

  • Nocturnal electric vehicle charging interacting with a residential photovoltaic-battery system: a 3E (energy, economic and environmental) analysis

    摘要: Increasing costs of petroleum derivatives, limitations on pollutant emissions and development of photovoltaic (PV) and electrical storage systems make it possible to spread the use of electrically powered vehicles. In this work, a 3E (energy, economic and environmental) feasibility study was carried out regarding an nocturnal electric vehicle (EV) charging in a residential user. In particular, three different EV charging scenarios were considered: use of the grid; use of a grid-connected PV system with a storage battery; use of a grid-connected PV system with a storage battery in the presence also of a residential user. Two sub-scenarios were examined that foresee the purchase of the EV as an alternative to a vehicle powered, respectively, by petrol and diesel. By considering different daily average distances travelled, a parametric study was developed in order to assess the influence of the size of the PV and storage system on the load satisfaction and solar energy utilization, economic convenience and emission savings. In general, it is not possible to simultaneously comply with all the 3E objectives and constraints. However, it is possible to select optimal EV-PV-battery combinations from a unique point of view or those that lead to a trade-off.

  • Effect of Different Solar Radiation Data Sources on the Variation of Techno-Economic Feasibility of PV Power System

    摘要: The aim of this study is to evaluate the variation in techno-economic feasibility of PV power system under different data sources of solar radiation. HOMER simulation tool is used to predict the techno-economic feasibility parameters of PV power system in Baghdad city, Iraq located at (33.3128° N, 44.3615° E) as a case study. Four data sources of solar radiation, different annual capacity shortages percentage (0, 2.5, 5, and 7.5), and wide range of daily load profile (10-100 kWh/day) are implemented. The analyzed parameters of the techno-economic feasibility are COE ($/kWh), PV array power capacity (kW), PV electrical production (kWh/year), No. of batteries and battery lifetime (year). The main results of the study revealed the followings: (1) solar radiation from different data sources caused observed to significant variation in the values of the techno-economic feasibility parameters; therefore, careful attention must be paid to ensure the use of an accurate solar input data; (2) Average solar radiation from different data sources can be recommended as a reasonable input data; (3) it is observed that as the size and of PV power system increases, the effect of different data sources of solar radiation increases and causes significant variation in the values of the techno-economic feasibility parameters.

  • Concise Approach for Determining the Optimal Annual Capacity Shortage Percentage using Techno-Economic Feasibility Parameters of PV Power System

    摘要: PV power systems have been commercially available and widely used for decades. The performance of a reliable PV system that fulfils the expectations requires correct input data and careful design. Inaccurate input data of the techno-economic feasibility would affect the size, cost aspects, stability and performance of PV power system on the long run. The annual capacity shortage is one of the main input data that should be selected with careful attention. The aim of this study is to reveal the effect of different annual capacity shortages on the techno-economic feasibility parameters and determining the optimal value for Baghdad city location using HOMER simulation tool. Six values of annual capacity shortage percentages (0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5%), and wide daily load profile range (10 kWh - 100 kWh) are implemented. The optimal annual capacity shortage is the value that always “wins” when each techno-economic feasibility parameter is at its optimal/ reasonable criteria. The results showed that the optimal annual capacity shortage that reduces significantly the cost of PV power system while keeping the PV system with reasonable technical feasibility is 3%. This capacity shortage value can be carried as a reference value in future works for Baghdad city location. Using this approach of analysis at other locations, annual capacity shortage can be always offered as a reference value for those locations.
