  • A Facile Approach for Fabricating Microstructured Surface Based on Etched Template by Inkjet Printing Technology

    摘要: Microstructures are playing an important role in manufacturing functional devices, due to their unique properties, such as wettability or ?exibility. Recently, various microstructured surfaces have been fabricated to realize functional applications. To achieve the applications, photolithography or printing technology is utilized to produce the microstructures. However, these methods require preparing templates or masks, which are usually complex and expensive. Herein, a facile approach for fabricating microstructured surfaces was studied based on etched template by inkjet printing technology. Precured polydimethylsiloxane substrate was etched by inkjet printing water-soluble polyacrylic acid solution. Then, the polydimethylsiloxane substrate was cured and rinsed, which could be directly used as template for fabricating microstructured surfaces. Surfaces with raised dots, lines, and squares, were facilely obtained using the etched templates by inkjet printing technology. Furthermore, controllable anisotropic wettability was exhibited on the raised line microstructured surface. This work provides a ?exible and scalable way to fabricate various microstructured surfaces. It would bring about excellent performance, which could ?nd numerous applications in optoelectronic devices, biological chips, microreactors, wearable products, and related ?elds.

  • 24.5: Back-Channel-Etched a-IGZO TFTs with TiO <sub/>2</sub> :Nb Protective Layer

    摘要: A back-channel-etched (BCE) process for the fabrication of a-IGZO TFTs is demonstrated, in which conductive TiO2:Nb (TNO) thin film is used to serve as protective layer for the a-IGZO active layer. TNO film could excellently protect a-IGZO due to its ultra-small surface roughness. With treatment by N2O plasma + 200°C annealing, the conductive TNO can be converted into an insulator to serve as an in situ passivation layer. Besides, the TNO in the source–drain (S-D) region remain conductive due to the protection of S-D electrodes, which could be proved by the XPS results. Compare with the conventional device without TNO protective layer, the S-D parasitic resistance (RSD) of devices with 1 nm and 5 nm TNO is significantly reduced. The positive bias stress stability is improved as well for the devices with TNO in situ passivation layer.

  • Track-etched membrane as fluorescence-based pH biosensor

    摘要: Robust and cost-effective stimuli-responsive polymers show prominent advantages to be integrated into detection devices. In addition, modified track-etched membranes with chemical-sensing polymers possess additional robustness features such as including the sensing material into sub-micron pores. In this study, we report the preparation of track-etched PET membranes with fluorescent response in direct relation to changes in the pH of the environment. Immobilised Fluorescein and Green Fluorescent Protein have been used as pH-sensor elements. The former was not sensitive to pH, while the latter had a similar pH sensitivity to that of the free protein. Modifications of track-etched membranes were carried out by grafting polymerisation initiated by the remnant radicals, a straightforward technique for selective modification of the inner wall of pores. The biosensor prepared with the fluorescent protein was able to sense the pH of a buffer solution in the range 4 to 8. Furthermore, this membrane evidenced capacity to sense the pH of the cell growth by in situ fluorescence intensity detection during E.coli cell culture in microwells.

  • Design of duala??functional substratea??integrated waveguide cavity with integration of filter and antennas

    摘要: A dual-functional substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) cavity which integrates a filter and two antennas is proposed in this article. Three slots are etched to divide a single cavity into four quarter-mode subcavities. Two equal subcavities are utilized to design a second-order filter. Mixed coupling is induced by this slot-etched structure, where a controllable transmission zero can be generated in the lower or upper stopband. Two unequal subcavities are utilized to design two integrated antennas. By adjusting their areas, the frequency ratio of these two antennas achieves a wide range of 0.55-1.81. In addition, the overall port isolation of higher than 21.0 dB is obtained by optimizing slot length. The proposed design has been validated by experimental results of a fabricated prototype. With advantages of low profile, light weight, suitable isolation, and flexible design, it has potential applications for modern wireless communication.

  • Plasmonics || Plasmonic Modes in Au and AuAg Nanowires and Nanowire Dimers Studied by Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy

    摘要: In this chapter, we review our recent work on the investigation of surface plasmon modes in metallic nanowires and nanowire dimers by means of electron energy loss spectroscopy combined with scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM-EELS). Due to the very high spatial resolution, STEM-EELS is a powerful technique to visualize multipole order surface plasmon modes in nanowires and study the dependency of their resonance energies on different parameters such as nanowire dimensions or nanowire porosity. In addition, we investigate surface plasmon hybridization in nanowires separated by gaps of less than 10 nm or connected by small metallic bridges. In such structures new modes arise, which depend strongly on gap or bridge sizes. Experimental results are supported by finite element simulations. The investigated nanowires and dimers are fabricated by electrodeposition in etched ion-track templates, combined with a selective dissolution processes. The synthesis techniques and their advantages for the fabrication of plasmonic nanostructures are also discussed.

  • On-wafer fabrication of etched-mirror UV-C laser diodes with the ALD-deposited DBR

    摘要: We have demonstrated an on-wafer fabrication process for AlGaN-based UV-C laser diodes (LDs) with etched mirrors and have achieved lasing for 100 ns pulsed current injection at room temperature. A combined process of dry and wet etching was employed to achieve smooth and vertical AlGaN (1(cid:2)100) facets. These etched facets were then uniformly coated with a distributed Bragg re?ector by atomic layer deposition. A remarkable reduction of the lasing threshold current density to 19:6 kA=cm2 was obtained owing to the high re?ectivity of the etched and coated mirror facets. The entire laser diode fabrication process was carried out on a whole 2-in. wafer. We propose this mirror fabrication process as a viable low-cost AlGaN-based UV-C LD production method that is also compatible with highly integrated optoelectronics based on AlN substrates.

  • Highly uniform and symmetric epitaxial InAs quantum dots embedded inside Indium droplet etched nanoholes

    摘要: III?V semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) obtained by local droplet etching technology provide a material platform for generation of non-classic light. However, using this technique to fabricate single emitters for a broad spectral range remains a signi?cant challenge. Herein, we successfully extend the QD emission wavelength to 850–880 nm via highly uniform and symmetric InAs QDs located inside indium-droplet-etching nanoholes. The evolution of InGaAs nanostructures by high temperature indium droplet epitaxy on GaAs substrate is revealed. By carefully designing the appropriate growth conditions, symmetric QDs with the a small ?ne structure splitting of only ~4.4?±?0.8 μeV are demonstrated. Averaging over the emission energies of 32 QDs, an ensemble broadening of 12 meV is observed. Individual QDs are shown to emit nonclassically with clear evidence of photon antibunching. These highly uniform and symmetric nanostructures represent a very promising novel strategy for quantum information applications.

    摘要: A hot-wire anemometer is proposed based on a cladding-etched optical fiber Bragg grating (FBG) coated with a layer of silver film, which absorbs light from a pump laser via a waist-enlarged optical fiber bitaper to generate heat and hence a relatively high initial temperature of the FBG. Experimental results show that cladding etching of the FBG increases the initial temperature and hence improves the measurement sensitivity and range. High sensitivity up to ~696.3 pm/(m/s) is achieved and the measurement range covers 0~20 m/s.

    摘要: Side-polishing single-mode fiber (SP-SMF) to the D-fiber and etch the physical structure Grating into the polishing flat surface. The simulation results of SP-SMF by COMSOL software show that the electric field contour lines at the air-cladding interface is continuous when the fiber cladding is polished to closer the core. Using Rsoft software to simulate the side-polished and etched fiber Bragg grating(SP-EFBG) and obtained the structural parameters of SP-EFBG, when the grating period and grating length and grating depth of the simulated SP-EFBG are 775nm and 10000μm and 150nm respectively, obtain the central wavelength and bandwidth and peak reflectivity is 1550nm and 0.2044nm and 90.79% respectively.

  • Facile preparation of nanoflower structured WO3 thin film on etched titanium substrate with high photoelectrochemical performance

    摘要: In this study, a nanoflower structured WO3 thin film has been prepared on an etched titanium substrate using a WO3 seeds-assisted hydrothermal reaction method. The WO3 nanoflower-like structure appeared when the growth time arrived at 4.75 h. Subsequently, this film went into a rapid growth stage. The nanoflower (NF) structured WO3 thin film with 8 h of hydrothermal reaction possessed the best photoelectrochemical performance. The photoinduced current density was 2.0 mA·cm?2 at a bias potential of 1.23 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) under the illumination by a simulated sunlight (100 mW/cm2) with a filter air mass (AM) 1.5 G. The improvement of the photoelectrochemical performance of the nanoflower structured WO3 can be attributed to three aspects. Firstly, the light absorption capacity could be increased by the nanoflower structure. Secondly, the reactive sites could be enhanced due to the increased specific surface area of the nanoflower structured WO3. Finally, a direct transfer channel for the photogenerated electrons could be formed by the definite 2-dimentional WO3 nanoflakes linked with the Ti substrate.
