High-power, high-spectral-purity GaSb-based laterally coupled distributed feedback lasers with metal gratings emitting at 2? <i> <b>μ</b> </i> m
摘要: We report on the fabrication of high-power, high-spectral-purity GaSb-based laterally coupled distributed feedback (LC-DFB) lasers emitting at 2 μm. Second-order Chromium-Bragg-gratings are fabricated alongside the ridge waveguide by lift off. Due to the introduction of gain coupling, the lasers exhibit a stable single mode operation [side-mode suppression ratio (SMSR) >40 dB] from 10 °C to 50 °C and the maximum SMSR is as high as 53 dB. At a heat-sink temperature of 10 °C, the lasers emit more than 40 mW continuous-wave in a single longitudinal mode. A high external quantum efficiency of 48% is obtained, resulting in a notable increase in power conversion efficiency peaking at 13%. The lasers achieve a comparable output power with that of the index-coupled LC-DFB lasers, while maintaining a better single mode performance. Thus, we prove the feasibility of the metal-grating LC-DFB structure to achieve high-power, frequency-stable semiconductor lasers through a simpler and much more convenient way.

High-power single-longitudinal-mode double-tapered gain-coupled distributed feedback semiconductor lasers based on periodic anodes defined by i-line lithography
摘要: In this paper, we demonstrate a regrowth-free double-tapered gain-coupled distributed feedback semiconductor laser. It is designed based on periodic surface current injection to reach a high-power and single-longitudinal mode. A continuous-wave output power of over 1.2 W/facet is achieved at 4 A. High single-longitudinal-mode output power reaches up to 0.9 W/facet at 3 A at each uncoated facet. The side mode suppression ratio is nearly 30 dB at 980 nm. The 3 dB spectral width is less than 2.7 pm. The lateral far field divergence angle is only 14.5 °, the beam quality factor M2 is 1.7, achieving a near-diffraction-limit emission. Our device, produced by standard i-line lithography, enhances the output power while obtaining the pleasurable spectral and spatial properties. It has great potential in widespread commercial applications such as high efficiency pumping sources for its low-cost, easy fabrication technique and excellent performance.

Narrow-line InGaN/GaN green laser diode with high-order distributed-feedback surface grating
摘要: We demonstrate narrow-line green laser emission at 513.85 nm with a linewidth of 31 pm and side-mode suppression ratio of 36.9 dB, operating under continuous-wave injection at room temperature. A high-order (40th) distributed-feedback surface grating fabricated on multimode InGaN-based green laser diodes via a focused ion beam produces resolution-limited, single-mode lasing with an optical power of 14 mW, lasing threshold of 7.27 kA cm?2, and maximum slope efficiency of 0.32 W A?1. Our realization of narrow-line green laser diodes opens a pathway toward efficient optical communications, sensing, and atomic clocks.

Narrow-Strip 670 nm Gain-Coupled Distributed Feedback Laser Based on Periodic Anodes Fabricated by I-Line Lithography
摘要: A narrow-strip single-longitudinal-mode gain-coupled distributed feedback semi-conductor laser with a central wavelength of approximately 670 nm is demonstrated. We fabricate a novel micro-scale regrowth-free gain-coupled grating with an island-like shape without nanoscale gratings by i-line lithography only. The maximum output power from the ?ber of the device with butter?y package is 48.1 mW at 100 mA and its slope ef?ciency is 0.79 W/A. The laser can be continuously tuned from 670.750 to 670.784 nm with a side-mode suppression ratio of over 40 dB, covering the absorptive peak of lithium atoms. Our easily fabricated devices have great potential as light sources in many applications such as lithium atom detectors.

Stability and Spectral Properties of General Tree-Shaped Wave Networks with Variable Coefficients
摘要: The stability of general tree-shaped wave networks with variable coefficients under boundary feedback controls is considered. Making full use of the tree-shaped structures, we present a detailed asymptotic spectral analysis of the networks. By proposing the from-root-to-leaf calculating technique, we deduce an explicit recursive expression for the asymptotic characteristic equation and the spectral properties are further obtained. We show that the spectrum-determined-growth (SDG) condition holds. Thus the stability analysis of the closed-loop system can be completely converted to the infimum estimation of the asymptotic characteristic equation. Especially, we further show that the infimum is positive so as to obtain the exponential stability by estimating the recursive expression in from-leaf-to-root order. Some numerical simulations are presented to illustrate and support the theoretical results.

Self-synchronized Encryption for Physical Layer in 10Gbps Optical Links
摘要: in this work a new self-synchronized encryption method for 10 Gigabit optical links is proposed and developed. Necessary modifications to introduce this kind of encryption in physical layers based on 64b/66b encoding, such as 10GBase-R, have been considered. The proposed scheme encrypts directly the 64b/66b blocks by using a symmetric stream cipher based on an FPE (Format Preserving Encryption) block cipher operating in PSCFB (Pipelined Statistical Cipher Feedback) mode. One of the main novelties in this paper is the security analysis done for this mode. For the first time, an expression for the IND-CPA (Indistinguishability under Chosen-Plaintext Attack) advantage of any adversary over this scheme has been derived. Moreover, it has been concluded that this mode can be considered secure in the same way of traditional modes are. In addition, the overall system has been simulated and implemented in an FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array). An encrypted optical link has been tested with Ethernet data frames, concluding that it is possible to cipher traffic at this level, getting maximum throughput and hiding traffic pattern from passive eavesdroppers.

Non-Uniform Quantization Codebook Based Hybrid Precoding to Reduce Feedback Overhead in Millimeter Wave MIMO Systems
摘要: In this paper, we propose two non-uniform quantization (NUQ) codebook based hybrid precoding schemes for two main hybrid precoding implementations, i.e., the full-connected structure and the sub-connected structure, to reduce the feedback overhead in millimeter wave single user multiple-input multiple-output (SU-MIMO) systems. Specifically, we firstly group the angles of the arrive/departure (AOAs/AODs) of the scattering paths into several spatial lobes by exploiting the sparseness property of the millimeter wave in the angular domain, which divides the total angular domain into effective spatial lobes' coverage angles and ineffective coverage angles. Then, we map the quantization bits non-uniformly to different coverage angles and construct NUQ codebooks, where high numbers of quantization bits are employed for the effective coverage angles to quantize AoAs/AoDs and zero quantization bit is employed for ineffective coverage angles. Finally, two low-complexity hybrid analog/digital precoding schemes are proposed that utilize the NUQ codebooks. Simulation results demonstrate that, the proposed two NUQ codebook based hybrid precoding schemes achieve near-optimal spectral efficiencies and show the superiority in reducing the feedback overhead compared with the uniform quantization codebook based works.

Effect of dual-channel optical feedback on self-mixing interferometry system
摘要: Laser feedback interference is widely used for displacement measurement of non-cooperative targets due to its ultra-high sensitivity. However, by the same token, laser feedback interferometry (LFI) suffers from multi-channel optical feedback, which compromises measurement stability and accuracy. We perform both simulations and experiments to study the effect of dual-channel optical feedback on LFI systems based displacement measurement. Dual-channel optical feedback interference is the simplest and most representative form of multi-channel feedback interference. We evaluate system performance by varying ,a which is the ratio of feedback level in the primary channel to the one in the secondary channel. The results indicate that the measured displacement curve is a linear line superimposed with nonlinear periodic errors when the target in the primary channel moves linearly and the target in the secondary channel stays stationary. Whereas, the curve is a periodic curve instead of a linear one, for the case when the target in the secondary channel moves linearly while the one in the primary channel stays stationary. Furthermore, the amplitude and shape of the periodic curves also depend on the parameter .a When a is much less than 1, the displacement curve is sinusoidal, whereas the curve has a saw-tooth shape with larger amplitude for a close to 1. In view of this situation, a new displacement measurement method, counting the cycles of the periodic displacement curves, is proposed. The current work can provide theoretical and experimental suggestions for improving the performance of existing self-mixing interferometry systems, and implementing ones with multi-channel optical feedback channels.

摘要: Nanomanipulation system based on scanning electron microscope(SEM) with good real-time visual feedback and nanoscale observation resolution had high operability in a vacuum working environment. Different nanomanipulation tasks of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are carried out through the nanomanipulation system in SEM. Nanomanipulation platform existed inherent manufacture errors, installation errors and other errors, and imprecise nanomanipulation system were also time-consuming and laborious for operators. This paper presentes a method of combining the visual feedback and feedforward control to detect and compensate the motion error of the multi-dimensional SmarAct nanomanipulation platform in the nanomanipulation system in SEM. This method reduces the motion error in the X-Y direction and achieved higher operating accuracy. At the different step speed, the motion error in the X direction and Y direction is 135.7nm and 112.9nm respectively. After the feedforward compensation, the motion error in the X direction and Y direction reduces to 61.3nm and 54.1nm respectively.

Experimental Research on Sensing Characteristics of Adhesive-encapsulated FBG under Alcohol-disinfection Environment
摘要: Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) has proven to be the most suitable sensing element for force feedback of surgical robots because of its special advantages such as small size and physical robustness. In current reports, researchers packaged FBGs in surgical instrument by attaching them to external surface or embedding into shaft grooves by using adhesive because its good liquidity and operability compared with other packaging methods such as metal package and glass solder package, and the adhesive is often without covering because strict space requirement of tiny surgical instruments. However, due to the need of repeated disinfection, surgical instruments have to be exposed to chemical disinfectant excessively, which may leads to chronic corrosion of adhesive, and thus influences the sensing characteristics of the integrated FBGs. To address this concern, this paper investigates the sensing characteristics of adhesive-encapsulated FBG under disinfection environment. We simulated a common disinfection environment by using 75% alcohol, and three adhesive-encapsulated FBGs were soaked in it for long term. The sensing performances of FBGs have been tested periodically and the experimental results demonstrate that the FBGs are available with good sensing characteristics within the first 50 days. While after 50 days, the sensing performances of the three FBGs become worse gradually, and finally the adhesive layers of the three FBGs completely detached from the specimen in the 75th day, 80th day and 95th day, respectively. We hope the investigation could provide valuable reference for better application of FBG in force feedback of surgical robots.
