  • Effect of processing conditions on additive DISC patterning of P3HT films

    摘要: There is a critical need to develop a method to pattern semiconducting polymers for device applications on the sub-micrometer scale. Dopant induced solubility control (DISC) patterning is a recently published method for patterning semiconductor polymers that has demonstrated sub-micron resolution. DISC relies on the sequential addition of molecular dopants (here 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (F4TCNQ)) to the conjugated polymer. In doped areas, the conjugated polymer is protected from dissolution while in undoped areas, the polymer dissolves into solution. Here we examine factors that affect the resolution of the developed pattern. Two factors are determined to be critical to pattern resolution, the initial crystallinity of the polymer, here poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT), and the quality of the development solvent. We find that dopants diffuse more readily in highly crystalline films than in amorphous films of P3HT and that dopant diffusion reduces the fidelity of the resulting pattern. We also find that the choice of development solvent affects both the fidelity of the pattern and dopant distribution within the patterned polymer domains. Finally, we show that a dopant that diffuses more slowly than F4TCNQ in the P3HT film can be used to pattern the film with higher fidelity. These results together provide a road map for optimizing additive DISC patterning for any polymer/dopant pair.

  • Nonclassical properties of two-mode squeezing-enhanced vacuum state

    摘要: We present a new kind of two-mode squeezed vacuum state with two squeezing parameters. Different from the normal univariate two-mode squeezed vacuum state, this new state shows stronger squeezing effect, anti-bunching and entanglement. It is shown that the new squeezing parameter plays an important role in this state.

  • Sub-micron features from polymer-derived SiOC via imprint lithography

    摘要: Silicon oxycarbide (SiOC) is a unique class of materials with great potential for facile manufacturing of complex shaped high temperature parts and devices. In this study, we examine the characteristics of micron-sized ridge and rod patterns of SiOC created by imprint lithography. Feature fidelity, shape change, and shrinkage are studied as a function of pyrolysis condition and feature size. All the features have acceptable surface fidelity under the pyrolysis conditions studied. However, pronounced rounding and flattening of patterned features are observed as the pyrolysis temperature increases or the feature size decreases. Based on the Kelvin and Gibbs-Thomson equations, we can predict the feature evolution and show that the feature rounding and flattening are due to surface diffusion and evaporation-condensation. As a result, the features also have more linear shrinkage than the bulk.

  • A Hybrid Optical/Electric Memristor for Light-Based Logic and Communication

    摘要: Light-based information processing has the potential to increase speed, security and scalability of electronics if issues in the device complexity could be resolved. We here demonstrate an integrated nano-electronic device that can combine, store, and manipulate optical and electronic information. Employing a mechanically flexible and multilayered structure, a device is realized that shows memristive behavior. Illumination is shown to control the device operation in several unique ways. First, the device produces photocurrent that allows us to read out the device state in a self-powered manner. More importantly, a varying light intensity modulates the switching transition in a proportional manner that is akin to a neuron with variable plasticity and which can be taught and queried using either light or electrical inputs. This behavior enables a multi-level light-controlled logic and teaching schemes that can be applied to light-based communication devices and provides a route towards ubiquitous and low-cost sensors for future internet of things applications.

However we can overcome this problem to a certain extend with the help of newly emerged technology of LIFI and IOT. LIFI or Light Fidelity invented by Prof. Harald Hass of University of Edinburgh and IOT proposed by Kevin Ashton, provide us with one such technology using which a doctor can keep record of his/her patient from anywhere across the world. Since doctor has to stay updated with his patient's condition, we need a noninterfering connectivity which is possible by LIFI and this huge data of patient can be recorded and stored using cloud computing IOT. Once the doctor receives the data, he can analyze them and provide appropriate feedback to the person (nurse) who is currently operating the patient.

  • High Speed Wireless Internet Using LiFi

    摘要: The internet has become a basic necessity, so with the advancement in technology, people are demanding something faster than WI-FI. Since light is the only medium that can travel fastest than any other source of data transmission else so if we use this medium for internet, it will be the best utilization of medium with a higher data transmission rate. This technology was implemented over and came out with concept of LI-FI Technology. Li-Fi in known for Light-Fidelity, Li-Fi uses an idea of visible light communication (VLC) technology that uses light as a medium to convey fast high-speed communication in a manner like Wi-Fi. Since visible light is present everywhere, the main idea of our review paper is how LI-FI technology can help in security, speed and reliability of internet and even can change our life style. This innovation is actualized utilizing white LED bulbs matched with the Downlink transmitter that can give a higher information transmission rate up to 10Gbps. The main prospective of this paper demonstrates the forthcoming routine of Li-Fi technology innovation and its highlights to expand the execution of information transmission and different applications where Li-Fi has been put to utilize.

  • High-performance Raman quantum memory with optimal control in room temperature atoms

    摘要: Quantum memories are essential for quantum information processing. Techniques have been developed for quantum memory based on atomic ensembles. The atomic memories through optical resonance usually suffer from the narrow-band limitation. The far off-resonant Raman process is a promising candidate for atomic memories due to broad bandwidths and high speeds. However, to date, the low memory efficiency remains an unsolved bottleneck. Here, we demonstrate a high-performance atomic Raman memory in 87Rb vapour with the development of an optimal control technique. A memory efficiency of above 82.0% for 6 ns~20 ns optical pulses is achieved. In particular, an unconditional fidelity of up to 98.0%, significantly exceeding the no-cloning limit, is obtained with the tomography reconstruction for a single-photon level coherent input. Our work marks an important advance of atomic memory towards practical applications in quantum information processing.

  • Multi-fidelity EM simulations and constrained surrogate modelling for low-cost multi-objective design optimisation of antennas

    摘要: In this study, a technique for low-cost multi-objective design optimisation of antenna structures has been proposed. The proposed approach is an enhancement of a recently reported surrogate-assisted technique exploiting variable-fidelity electromagnetic (EM) simulations and auxiliary kriging interpolation surrogate, the latter utilised to produce the initial approximation of the Pareto set. A bottleneck of the procedure for higher-dimensional design spaces is a large number of training data samples necessary to construct the surrogate. Here, the authors propose a procedure that allows us to confine the model domain to the subset spanned by the reference points, including the extreme Pareto-optimal designs obtained by optimising the individual objectives as well as an additional design that determines the Pareto front curvature. Setting up the surrogate in the constrained domain leads to a dramatic reduction of the required number of data samples, which results in lowering the overall cost of the optimisation process. Furthermore, the model domain confinement is generic, i.e. applicable for any number of design goals considered. The proposed technique is demonstrated using an ultra-wideband monopole antenna optimised with respect to three objectives. Significant reduction of the design cost is obtained as compared to the reference surrogate-assisted algorithm.

  • Impact of Random Receiver Orientation on Visible Light Communications Channel

    摘要: Visible Light Communications (VLC) has been studied thoroughly in recent years as an alternative or complementary technology to radio frequency communications. The reliability of VLC channels highly depends on the availability and alignment of line of sight links. In this work, we study the effect of random receiver orientation for mobile users over VLC downlink channels, which affects the existence and quality of line of sight links. Based on the statistics of the receiver location and relative orientation with respect to the transmitter LED, we develop an analytical framework to characterize the statistical distribution of VLC downlink channels, which is then utilized to obtain the outage probability and the bit error rate. Our analysis is generalized for arbitrary distributions of relative orientation and location for a single transmitter, and extended to multiple transmitter case for some certain scenarios. Extensive Monte Carlo simulations show a perfect match between the analytical and the simulation data in terms of both the statistical channel distribution and the resulting bit error rate. Our results also characterize the channel attenuation due to random receiver orientation and location for various scenarios of interest.

  • Quantum Teleportation Under Different Collective Noise Environment

    摘要: We investigate that the average fidelity of the standard quantum teleportation communication protocol when the quantum channel is affected by different local collective noise environments frequently encountered in real quantum communication protocol. We show that the quantum teleportation efficiency can be enhanced when the noise is unavoidable by choose the fit Bell state as the quantum channel, especially we can get perfect quantum teleportation efficiency under the local collective Pauli σy noise environment. Our work can shed some light on the application of practical standard quantum teleportation communication protocol.
