    摘要: This paper presents three-phase AC-stacked photovoltaic (PV) inverter architecture integrated with battery and its output balancing control strategy under asymmetrical irradiance conditions. The main objective of this research is to verify the feasibility of decentralized control scheme in the three-phase AC-stacked PV inverter system and mitigate unbalanced output power caused by asymmetrical irradiance conditions. To keep the benefits of the decentralized control, the proposed output balancing control strategy uses local measurement information captured by individual energy storage inverter members. The proposed system is demonstrated and verified through a control-hardware-in-the-loop test.

    摘要: Large scale grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) rooftop systems are encouraged to install in many commercial buildings with the aim to saving the electricity energy bills. However, the support from PV system normally reduces only real power consumption while the use of reactive power is unchanged. In consequent, the power factor at the point of common coupling (PCC) may drop below the utility’s prescribed value, causing the increase of power factor charge in the energy bill. The power factor correction by controlling reactive power supplied by PV rooftop system is presented in this work. The performances of this proposed control method are examined based on time-sweep load flow calculations on DIgSILENT PowerFactory software. The simulation results show that the reactive power compensation by PV interfaced converter, with smart control algorithm, can improve the power factor at the PCC effectively, without adding new compensation devices.

  • A Novel Control Technique for Grid-tied Inverters Considering Unbalanced Grid Voltage Conditions and Control Input Saturation

    摘要: This paper presents a new method to design a current controller for grid-tied inverters under both balanced and unbalanced grid voltage conditions. The proposed controller consists of combining feedback-output controller with a disturbance observer (DO). The control design is carried out in the αβ reference frame. Thus, the objective of the composite controller is to ensure that the output of the system tracks a sinusoidal reference signal with zero steady-state error. A feedback controller only cannot achieve a good tracking performance because of the presence of model uncertainties and unknown disturbances. To account for the natural mismatch between the actual system and the mathematical model, the system dynamics is firstly augmented with an additional state-variable, representing the disturbance, and the feedback controller is designed based on the assumption that the disturbance input is available for feedback. Then, an observer is constructed to estimate the disturbance, which is assumed to be a sine wave oscillating at the grid frequency. Another feature of the disturbance observer is its ability to compensate for the effect of the saturation blocks required to limit the control input during transients, leading to improved dynamic performance. Several experimental tests were conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed controller, and the results demonstrated its capability to achieve accurate, fast, and stable responses.

    摘要: Common-mode leakage current and double-line-frequency power oscillation are two major challenges of non-isolated single-phase grid-tied inverters. To overcome these two challenges, this paper proposes a new single-phase single-stage inverter for photovoltaic grid-tied systems, which consist of two switches, three capacitors, two inductors, and one diode. The proposed topology allows the negative pole of the photovoltaic panel to be directly connected to the neutral line of the utility grid so that the common-mode leakage current is eliminated completely. Then a mixed modulation strategy combining pulse width modulation and pulse frequency modulation is proposed to suppress the double-line-frequency power oscillation. Two of the capacitors are utilized to handle the power difference between the AC and DC sides, and the other is utilized to implement zero voltage switching. The proposed inverter is also capable of outputting reactive power. The validity of the proposed inverter is veri?ed by simulation.

  • A Comparative Topologies in Grid Connected Photo Voltaic System for Efficient Behavior

    摘要: The power delivered by a PV system consisting of one or more photovoltaic cells is dependent on the irradiance, temperature, and the current drawn from the cells. Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) is used to obtain the maximum power from these systems. Grid-tied inverters are the key components of distributed generation system because of their function as an effective interface between renewable energy sources and utility. In this paper, Perturb and Observe (P&O) and Incremental Conductance (IC) MPPT controllers are modeled and comparison is carried out. Recently, there has been an increasing interest in the use of transformer less inverter. The leakage current issues of transformer less inverter depends on the topology structure and modulation scheme, so it have to be addressed very carefully to meet the safety regulations. In order to eliminate the leakage current, OH5transformer less inverter topology is proposed and compared with switching inverter. The results concluded that using ICalgorithm the efficiency will improve comparatively. With the use of transformer less OH5 inverter along with ICalgorithm reduction in size and cost is observed. The improvement in efficiency with OH5 inverter is possible because of using five MOSFET switches. With usage of MOSFET switches switching losses and dead time is reduced. The leakage current is less in OH5 inverter compared to all other topologies proposed in reference. So isolation between grid and PV system is possible and safety of operating person is improved.
