  • Src Kinase Controls Signaling Pathways In Sensory Neuron Triggered By Low-Power Infrared Radiation

    摘要: Low-power (non-thermal) infrared (IR) radiation with the wavelength of 10.6 μm activates the Na,K-ATPase transducer function in sensory neurons, which is manifested in decrease of NaV1.8 channel voltage sensitivity at the cellular membrane level and in inhibition of growth of chick embryo dorsal root ganglia neurites at the tissue level. It is shown that the effect of low-power IR radiation is totally blocked by a specific Src kinase inhibitor PP2. Upon irradiation on the background of PP2, the effective charge of NaV1.8 channel activation gating system does not differ from its control value in patch-clamp experiments, and the area index of sensory ganglia neurites growth remains unchanged as compared to the control in organotypic tissue culture. The data obtained demonstrate that Src kinase is involved in intracellular signaling pathways triggered by CO2 laser low-power IR radiation by the transducer-activated mechanism. This is the first indication that in primary sensory neuron the signals of low-power IR radiation are sensed, amplified and transduced by the Na,K-ATPase/Src complex and not by G proteins.

  • Robust Janus fibrous membrane switchable infrared radiation properties for potential building thermal management application

    摘要: Buildings heating and cooling consumes a large part of global energy, contributing to aggravating the global warming and energy crisis. It is strongly desired but still lacking in realizing heating and cooling functions within the same material without intensive energy input. Herein, a Janus thermal management membrane with trilayer structure has been prepared by using the ZnO nanorods array-coated cellulose (ZnO-NRs@cellulose), ultralong MnO2 nanowires (UL-MnO2-NWs) and silver nanowires (Ag-NWs) as building blocks. The ZnO-NRs@cellulose fiber layer with rough surface was fabricated by a hydrothermal progress based on the controlled growth of ZnO nanorods on cellulose surfaces. Subsequently, the hydrothermally synthesized UL-MnO2-NWs and Ag-NWs were filtered onto the ZnO-NRs@cellulose layer in turn, forming laminated Janus membrane. The Janus membrane exhibited asymmetric radiation properties on each side: the ZnO-NRs@cellulose side of the Janus membrane shows high solar radiation reflectivity and high infrared emissivity to minimize heat input from sun and enhance the heat dissipation in hot environment, while Ag-NWs side of that exhibits relatively high solar radiation absorption rate and low infrared emissivity for enhancing heat input from sun and reducing the heat radiation loss in cold environment. The introduction of UL-MnO2-NWs and Ag-NWs into the laminated Janus membrane endows the membrane with high tensile stress of 61.4 MPa. Moreover, the strong compatible entanglement among three layers of the Janus membrane causes the satisfactory interface stability. Due to the special asymmetric radiation performance, excellent interfacial compatibility, and high mechanical stability, such Janus membrane might be potential useful in building energy saving, personal thermal management and other facilities.

  • Small Aircraft Infrared Radiation Measurements Supporting the Engine Airframe Aero-thermal Integration

    摘要: The large, EU Supported ESPOSA (Efficient Systems and propulsion for Small Aircraft) project has developed new small gas turbines for small aircraft. One of the important tasks was the engine - airframe aero-thermal radiation integration that included task of minimizing the infrared radiation of the small aircraft, too. This paper discusses the factors influencing on the aircraft infrared radiation, its possible simulation and measurements and introduces the results of small aircraft infrared radiation measurements. The temperature of aircraft hot parts heated by engines were determined for validation of methodology developed and applied to engine - aircraft thermal integration.

  • Cancer cella??specific protein delivery by optoporation with lasera??irradiated gold nanorods

    摘要: The delivery of macromolecules into living cells is challenging since in most cases molecules are endocytosed and remain in the endo-lysosomal pathway where they are degraded before reaching their target. Here, a method is presented to selectively improve cell membrane permeability by nanosecond laser irradiation of gold nanorods (GNRs) with visible or near-infrared irradiation in order to deliver proteins across the plasma membrane, avoiding the endo lysosomal pathway. GNRs were labelled with the anti-EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) antibody Erbitux to target human ovarian carcinoma cells OVCAR-3. Irradiation with nanosecond laser pulses at wavelengths of 532 nm or 730 nm is used for transient permeabilization of the cell membranes. As a result of the irradiation, the uptake of an anti-Ki-67 antibody was observed in about 50 % of the cells. The results of fluorescence lifetime imaging show that the GNR detached from the membrane after irradiation.

  • An Experimental Study on Infrared Radiation Characteristics of Sandstone Samples Under Uniaxial Loading

    摘要: The failure of surrounding strata in the excavation faces is the root cause of some disasters, including roof caving, coal pillar instability, and water inrushes, during the extraction of coal resource. Identifying the abnormal phenomena and precursor information before rock failure forms an important theoretical foundations of achieving safety operation in coal mines. The infrared radiation (IR) on the surface of rock will change during loading process (Luong 1990; Freund et al. 2007; Gong 2013). By monitoring the IR, the deformation and failure characteristics of rock can be obtained (Sheinin and Blokhin 2012; Mineo and Pappalardo 2016; Sun et al. 2017; Fiorucci et al. 2018), reliable information for predicting rock failure precursors may be obtained, as well (Wu et al. 2015; Salami et al. 2017). In addition, the water content affects the IR characteristics during the failure of rock (Liu et al. 2010). To quantitatively characterize the IR from the rock surface during loading process, Wu (1998) first proposed the index of average infrared radiation temperature (AIRT). Later, Liu et al. (2015), Yang et al. (2017) and Ma et al. (2016) proposed new indexes for quantitative analysis, e.g., variance, entropy, characteristic roughness, euclidean distance, and VDIIT. The previous experimental results revealed that these new indexes could be used to explain a lot of IR phenomena during rock failure (Pappalardo 2017; Zhang et al. 2018). For example, the author have investigated the inherent relation between stress and IR during rock loading (Ma et al. 2017), and found that stress had significant, universal, and hysteretic control effects on IR. However, there are still difficulties during the acquisition of IR mutation data and the estimation of mutation amplitude under loading conditions. Therefore, new appropriate indexes should be proposed for more accurate determination of the quantitative relation between stress and IR. To further investigate the relation between stress and IR, two mutation coefficients, stress rate (SR) and variance of differential infrared image temperature (VDIIT), were adopted in this study. The related IR observation experiments were conducted using samples with different water content, so as to obtain the quantitative relation between stress and IR under uniaxial loading tests.

  • A Wide Dynamic Range NUC Algorithm for IRCS Systems

    摘要: Uniformity is a key feature of state-of-the-art infrared focal planed array (IRFPA) and infrared imaging system. Unlike traditional infrared telescope facility, a ground-based infrared radiant characteristics measurement system with an IRFPA not only provides a series of high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) infrared image but also ensures the validity of radiant measurement data. Normally, a long integration time tends to produce a high SNR infrared image for infrared radiant characteristics radiometry system. In view of the variability of and uncertainty in the measured target’s energy, the operation of switching the integration time and attenuators usually guarantees the guality of the infrared radiation measurement data obtainted during the infrared radiant characteristics radiometry process. Non-uniformity correction (NUC) coe?cients in a given integration time are often applied to a speci?ed integration time. If the integration time is switched, the SNR for the infrared imaging will degenerate rapidly. Considering the e?ect of the SNR for the infrared image and the infrared radiant characteristics radiometry above, we propose a-wide-dynamic-range NUC algorithm. In addition, this essasy derives and establishes the mathematical modal of the algorithm in detail. Then, we conduct veri?cation experiments by using a ground-based MWIR(Mid-wave Infared) radiant characteristics radiometry system with an ?400 mm aperture. The experimental results obtained using the proposed algorithm and the traditional algorithm for di?erent integration time are compared. The statistical data shows that the average non-uniformity for the proposed algorithm decreased from 0.77% to 0.21% at 2.5 ms and from 1.33% to 0.26% at 5.5 ms. The testing results demonstrate that the usage of suggested algorithm can improve infrared imaging quality and radiation measurement accuracy.

  • Real 3D approach vs 2D camera with and without real-time near-infrared imaging with indocyanine green for detection of endometriosis: a case-control study

    摘要: Introduction: The complete surgical removal of endometriosis lesions is not always feasible because some implants may be very small or hidden. The use of intra-operative near-infrared radiation (NIR) imaging after intravenous injection of indocyanine green (ICG) coupled with robotic technical advances, including tridimensional and high-resolution vision, might improve detection rates. Material and methods: This is a retrospective, multicenter case-control study (Canadian Task Force classification II-2) on medical records of women with endometriosis that submitted to surgery at the Catholic University of Rome (controls) and the University of Bologna (Cases) between January, 2016, and March, 2018. Surgical and post-surgical data from the procedures were collected. We compared the visual detection rate of endometriotic lesions using near-infrared radiation imaging after intravenous injection of indocyanine green (NIR-ICG) in Real 3D (Cases) with the 2D Camera approach (Controls) in symptomatic women with pelvic endometriosis. Results: Twenty cases were matched as closely as possible with 27 controls. The suspected lesions identified both with the WL and the NIR-ICG approach were 116 and 70 in the Controls (2D) and Cases (3D), respectively. Among them, 16 of 116 controls (13.8%) and 12 of 70 cases (17.1%) were identified using only NIR-ICG imaging and collected as occult lesions (p=0.536). The overall NIR-ICG lesion identification showed a positive predictive value of 97.8%, negative predictive value of 82.3%, sensitivity of 82.0%, and specificity of 97.9% for the Control group, and a positive predictive value of 100%, negative predictive value of 97.1%, sensitivity of 97.1%, and specificity of 100% for the Cases group, confirming that NIR-ICG imaging is a good diagnostic and screening test (p=0.643 and p=0.791, according to the Cohen kappa tests, respectively for the laparoscopic and robotic groups). Conclusions: The few differences observed did not seem to be clinically relevant, thus making the two procedures comparable in terms of the ability to visually detect endometriotic lesions. Further prospective trials are needed to confirm our results.

  • Infrared Bioengineering Feedback Cabin for Recovering Functional Reserves of a Human Organism

    摘要: An energy-effective mobile infrared cabin has been developed for activating the functional reserves of a human organism in medicinal, health-improving, and sports practice has been developed. The cabin maintains deep penetration of optical radiation into the tissues of a human being by using near infrared band radiators. The distinctive feature of the facility being proposed is the realization of bioengineering feedback by recording basic physiological indices of the user and automatic control of the infrared procedure parameters based on the results of monitoring. Minimization of thermal load generated by infrared radiators on the user′s organism allows one to expand the sphere of application of the infrared cabin by eliminating the limitations on using it by patients with arterial hypertension and cardiovascular insuf? ciency.

  • Multifunctional semitransparent organic solar cells with excellent infrared photon rejection

    摘要: Semitransparent organic solar cells (ST-OSCs) have the potentials to open promising applications that differ from those of conventional inorganic ones, such as see-through power windows with both energy generation and heat insulation functions. However, to achieve so, there remain significant challenges, especially for balancing critical parameters, such as power conversion efficiency (PCE), average visible transparency (AVT) and low energy infrared photon radiation rejection (IRR) to realize the full potentials of ST-OSCs. Herein, we demonstrate the new design of ST-OSCs through the rational integration of organic materials, transparent electrode and infrared photon reflector in one device. With the assistance of optical simulation, new ST-OSCs with precise layout exhibit state-of-art performance, with near 30% AVT and PCE of 7.3%, as well as an excellent IRR of over 93% (780–2500 nm), representing one of best multifunctional ST-OSCs with promising perspective for window application.
