  • Prospects of Coupled Organica??Inorganic Nanostructures for Charge and Energy Transfer Applications

    摘要: We review the field of organic-inorganic nanocomposites with a focus on materials that exhibit a significant degree of electronic coupling across the hybrid interface. These nanocomposites undergo a variety of charge and energy transfer processes, enabling optoelectronic applications in devices which exploit singlet fission, triplet energy harvesting, photon upconversion or hot charge carrier transfer. We discuss the physical chemistry of the most common organic and inorganic components. Based on those we derive synthesis and assembly strategies and design criteria on material and device level with a focus on photovoltaics, spin memories or optical upconverters. We conclude that future research in the field should be directed towards an improved understanding of the binding motif and molecular orientation at the hybrid interface.

  • Near-infrared laser driven white light continuum generation: materials, photophysical behaviours and applications

    摘要: The pursuit of efficient light sources has stimulated continued effort in the search of materials and methods for generating white light emission. In addition to the white light produced by light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and fluorescent lamps that involves spectral conversion of high energy to low energy emission, recent studies showed that it was also possible to produce white visible light by irradiating different active materials with near-infrared (NIR) constant-wave (CW) lasers. In this review, we begin by introducing and categorizing different materials that exhibit NIR laser driven white light emission, including normal inorganic phosphors, organometallic compounds, graphene, etc. We then discuss the photophysical behavior of this process in terms of optical spectra, temperature evolution and photoelectric response. Different mechanisms of while light generation are analyzed afterwards, and the possibility of a more general physical picture of this process is discussed. This review is concluded with a summary of the current understanding and discussion on potential applications and future perspectives.

  • Two Novel Heteropolyniobates Using TeO <sub/>3</sub><sup>2–</sup> as Template and Linker

    摘要: By adopting di?erent crystal growth methods, two novel organic?inorganic hybrids, [{Cu(phen)}6(H2O)(Te5Nb15.5Cu0.5O57)]3.5? and its dimer, have been successfully synthesized. These are fabricated by simple compound reactions and directed by the tellurite anions, which act as heteroanion templates and linkers, as well as a pendant ligand. The compounds were characterized by IR spectra, UV/vis, thermogravimetric analysis, and single crystal X-ray di?raction. Furthermore, the solution behavior was also investigated.

  • Hybrid quantum dot-based theranostic nanomedicines for tumor-targeted drug delivery and cancer imaging

    摘要: Quantum dots (QDs) are considered one of the most efficient tools used in theranostic applications for diagnosis and therapy due to their unique physiochemical characteristics. QDs are semiconductor crystals in the nano-scale range of 2–10 nm which exhibit unique photoluminescence characteristics as well as electronic properties such as tunable emission from visible to near infrared wavelengths and superior light stability. QDs possess strong photoluminescence with high molar extinction coefficient values, which make them the best candidates for cell labeling and detection of cancer biomarkers. QDs are characterized by symmetric narrow-emission spectra and broad-absorption spectra. However, some fears have been raised regarding the toxicity of QDs, especially Cd-containing QDs, due to the release of Cd ions and the generation of reactive oxygen species. Therefore, strategies have been developed to reduce their toxicity and enhance their biocompatibility through hybridization with other moieties such as polymers, proteins, polysaccharides or lipids, offering efficient tumor targeting in addition to inhibiting their release into the systemic circulation. This article discusses QD-based nanohybrids for delivery of anticancer drugs in combination with cancer imaging.

  • Synthesis of organic–inorganic hybrids <i>via</i> a high-pressure-ramp process: the effect of inorganic nanoparticle loading on structural and photochromic properties

    摘要: Organic polymerization remains a limiting step in the preparation of organic–inorganic hybrid materials with a strong concentration of the inorganic component. In this work, a high-pressure-ramp process was applied to achieve pHEMA–TiO2 nanoparticulate solids with an unprecedentedly high concentration (12 mol l?1) of the inorganic component, which is four times higher than that obtained after radical polymerization induced thermally or by photons. The inorganic nanoparticles underwent morphological and structural changes with an increase of Ti concentration above 1.5 mol l?1: they slightly coarsen and crystallize into an anatase polymorph. The material possesses a strong photochromic response related to the electron–hole separation at the organic–inorganic interface and can store 1e? per 5 Ti atoms. The electron storage capacity of the titania nanoparticles decreases upon crystallization.

  • Facile Fabrication of Fluorescent Inorganic Nanoparticles with Diverse Shapes for Cell Imaging

    摘要: In the present work, we describe a facile and general method of fabricating fluorescent inorganic nanoparticles with diverse shapes for cell imaging application. The hematite (α-Fe2O3) nanoparticles (HNPs) with three different shapes (i.e., spindle shape, ellipsoidal shape and quasi-spherical shape) were first prepared as model systems in consideration of good biocompatibility and the controllable morphology of α-Fe2O3. Three fluorescent HNPs with different shapes were achieved via one-pot sol-gel reaction of AIEgen-functionalized siloxane (AIEgen-Si(OCH3)3) and TEOS in the presence of PVP-stabilized HNPs. Due to the fluorescence originating from the thin AIEgens-contained SiO2 shell around the HNPs, their photoluminescent intensities can be tuned by changing the concentrations of TEOS and AIEgen-Si(OCH3)3 in feed prior to the sol-gel reaction. When the as-prepared fluorescent products were dispersed in water, they gave intense green light emission upon excitation at 360 nm with relatively high fluorescence quantum yield. Further, fluorescent HNPs exhibited low cytotoxicity and excellent photostability and, thus, were used as optical probes to preliminarily explore the effect of nanoparticle shapes on their cellular uptake behaviors. This work should open a facile way to prepare various fluorescent inorganic nanoparticles with specific morphology for various biological applications.

  • Removal of Textile Dye from Aqueous Media Using an Advanced Oxidation Process with UV/H <sub/>2</sub> O <sub/>2</sub>

    摘要: This study investigated the treatment of water contaminated with textile dye (Cibacron Red FN-R, reactive red 238) using a UV/H2O2 process. The reaction was influenced by the input concentration of hydrogen peroxide H2O2, pH, temperature, and the concentration of textile dye in the wastewater. Analysis of the experimental results displayed both first order and the second order reactions. The reaction type was found to be of a first order throughout the systems. The removal efficiency of the UV/ H2O2 process at optimal conditions and dosage (H2O2 = 25 mg/L, pH=3, temperature =20 ?C for 50 mg/L dye concentration) were found to be 80.633% , 97.07%, and 99.43% at 60 min, 120 min, and 180 min, respectively with K1 = 0.0293 min-1 and R2=0.9992%. COD removal was also studied for the UV/H2O2 process and found to be 62.5%.

  • Lead-free all-inorganic cesium tin iodide perovskite for filamentary and interface-type resistive switching toward environment-friendly and temperature-tolerant nonvolatile memories

    摘要: Recently, organometallic and all-inorganic halide perovskites (HPs) have become promising materials for resistive switching (RS) nonvolatile memory devices with low-power consumption, because they show current–voltage hysteresis caused by fast ion migration. However, the toxicity and environmental pollution potential of lead, a common constituent of HPs, has limited commercial applications of HP-based devices. Here, RS memory devices based on lead-free all-inorganic cesium tin iodide (CsSnI3) perovskites with temperature-tolerance are successfully fabricated. The devices exhibit reproducible and reliable bipolar RS characteristics in both Ag and Au top electrodes (TEs) with different switching mechanisms. The Ag TE devices show filamentary RS behavior with ultra-low operating voltages (< 0.15 V). In contrast, the Au TE devices have interface-type RS behavior with gradual resistance changes. This suggests that the RS characteristics are attributed to either the formation of metal filaments or the ion migration of defects in HPs under applied electric fields. These distinct mechanisms may permit the opportunity to design devices for specific purposes. This work will pave the way for lead-free all-inorganic HP-based nonvolatile memory for commercial applications of HP-based devices.

  • Synthesis, crystal structure and photochromic property of a phenethyl viologen bismuth(III) chloride

    摘要: Viologen bismuthate halides generally show photochromic properties. In the present work, phenylethyl alcohol was introduced into chloro bismuthates in the hope to prepare photochromic crystalline materials and finally a photochromic inorganic-organic hybrid, (PeV)3(Bi2Cl9)2 (1), based on (PeV2+ = phenethylviologen = N,N′-diphenethyl-4,4′-bipyridinium), has been obtained, whose microstructure contains a discrete dimer [Bi2Cl9]3– counterion identified by single crystal X-ray diffraction. More importantly, 1 exhibits a typical photochromic behavior, which can be mainly attributed to the reversible inter-conversion between the monocation viologen radical [PeV]+? and the viologen dication [PeV]2+.

  • Real-time Raman analysis of cleaning solution: Determination of Al/Alq3 residue in cleaning mixture

    摘要: The analysis of cleaning solutions is difficult, especially if a chemical reaction occurs in the mixed solution. Such chemical reactions lead to real‐time changes in the vibrations of the molecules due to changes in the binding forces. Thus, techniques for analyzing mixed solutions are required to determine the processes that occur during the cleaning process. A real‐time intermolecular vibrational analysis method employing Raman spectroscopy is used herein for quantitative analysis of organic and inorganic residues in TFD4 cleaning solution (TFD4 comprises a mixture of anionic and nonionic surfactant agents, potassium hydroxide, and stabilizing agents). This study also identifies the development of a new peak, indicative of Al‐bonding in TFD4 solution during the cleaning process, and demonstrates that a change in the bonding occurs in the solution. The result of Raman intensity measurement by changing the bonding strength in solution can be applied to make predictive models and analytical techniques that can indicate the relationship of mixed solution.
