  • Novel optical biosensor method to identify human blood types using free space frequency modulated wave of NIR photon technology

    摘要: Background: The free-space broadband frequency-modulated near-infrared (NIR) photon transmission and backscattering mode technique has been used in this paper as an optical biosensor method. Purpose: The purpose is to measure, identify, and extract the optical properties of different blood types. Patients and methods: The method depends on the measurements of broadband frequencies ranging from 30 up to 1,000 MHz to predict two important parameters related to the incident-modulated signal. Blind samples collected from 30 patients were examined using the optical NIR transmission mode system, and an additional 40 blood samples from random patients were examined using the optical NIR reflection mode system. The study is divided into two stages: The first stage is dedicated to measuring the insertion loss and insertion phase over 30–1,000 MHz in a transmission mode to characterize the behavior of modulated photons as they interact with the blood samples. The second stage is dedicated to performing noninvasive backscattering measurements using the optical band developed to match the first stage results. Results: In this paper, we have created an indexed database using optical transmission mode measurements, and then mapped it to a reflection noninvasive measurement to identify the blood types. Then for the purpose of device accuracy, we randomly selected 480 new human subjects to measure the false-negative error percentage. This method is novel in terms of using an optical system to measure and identify blood types without collecting blood samples. Conclusion: The novel approach shows a highly accurate method in identifying different blood types instantaneously using optical sensing for both in vitro and in vivo procedures, thereby saving time and effort.

    摘要: The paper represents the design and implementation of a Silicon Pillar Bow Windmill used in LED output coupler at a frequency of 100 GHz with cylindrical waveguides. The design and simulation have been carried out using CST microwave studio. The designed windmill has a circular aluminum disc with a thickness of 3.19 μm and radius of 2500 μm. The circular disc is sandwiched between two circular waveguides. The designed windmill has been simulated and the return loss and insertion loss are obtained as -22.38 dB and -0.000723 dB respectively at this frequency. The designed windmill has good performance and can be used for low and medium power microwave applications.

    摘要: Time-domain channel characterization (TCC) for de-embedding of an asymmetric fixture is introduced. Two design criteria for the design of a 2x-thru are proposed. Error sensitivity regarding a small error in the S-parameters of the 1x-fixture is analyzed with an insertion loss error-coefficient and a return loss error-coefficient. The TCC procedure, including proposed design criteria and error sensitivity, is also introduced to reduce the error in the TCC application. Three different 2x-thru structures are investigated for the verification of the two proposed design criteria and analyzed for error sensitivity. Test fixtures on a printed circuit boards are fabricated for the experimental verification.

    摘要: A compact hairpin line bandpass filter is presented with two different defected ground structures (DGS). The DGS are used to reduce the distributive response of the microstrip filter. The harmonic at 2f0 is suppressed to below ?20 dB. The filter has an insertion loss (IL) greater than ?3 dB and return loss (RL) of 26 dB at the center frequency, 2.4 GHz. The designed filter has a sharp roll-off and a wide band of operation. The filter is fabricated using RO4350 substrate and measured results are compared with the simulations.

  • An X-band single-layer waveguide directional filter with compact size and low insertion loss

    摘要: A novel waveguide directional ?lter with compact-size and low insertion loss is proposed in this letter. The basic structure consists of a pair of rectangular waveguides placed parallel to each other along their narrow side and two identical band-pass ?lters connect them via two coupling slots. For easy of fabrication and assembling, all the band-pass ?lters and wave-guides have a uniform height, that is all the components of the directional ?lter are in a single-layer waveguide. It is easy machining by standard computer numerical controlled (CNC) techniques to match the requirement for low cost. For veri?cation purpose, an X-band single-layer waveguide directional ?lter has been manufactured and measured. The measured results show a insertion loss better than 0.1 dB, a return loss lower than ?17.5 dB and a isolation better than ?22.5 dB, good band-pass and band-elimination responses are also obtained over the frequency range from 7.25 GHz to 9.75 GHz. The good agreement has been found between the simulated and measured results.

  • Self-packaged grounded suspended coplanar waveguide structure

    摘要: In this Letter, a novel self-packaged grounded suspended coplanar waveguide (GSCPW) structure is proposed by using the common multi-layer PCB techniques, which eliminates the drawbacks of bulky circuit size, heavy weight and difficult to be integrated as that of the traditional suspended circuits with mechanical mounting. Both self-packaging and end connection are used to reduce the wave leakage, and the multiple via holes are saved, which greatly reduce the simulation time and the fabrication complexity. The proposed GSCPW structure has been fabricated, and has been demonstrated by experimental results with a measured insertion loss of no more than 0.45 dB, and a measured return loss of better than 20 dB from dc to 4 GHz.

  • A SIMPLIFIED IMPLEMENTATION OF SUBSTRATE INTEGRATED NON-RADIATIVE DIELECTRIC WAVEGUIDE AT MILLIMETER-WAVE FREQUENCIES

    摘要: The substrate integrated non-radiative dielectric (SINRD) guide presents a rather complicated process of design and implementation because of multiple interrelated design parameters involved in the de?nition of structures. In this work, the size of SINRD guide is halved by using a perfect electrical conductor (PEC) image plane. Consequently, the number of modes in the resulting image SINRD (iSINRD) guide is equally reduced since all even modes including the LSE 10 mode are suppressed. Furthermore, a simple yet accurate design method is proposed that takes into account many parameters involved in the design of an SINRD guide, especially dimensions of perforation and dispersion e?ects.Three iSINRD prototypes are fabricated to test the proposed method over the W-band frequency range. Two of the prototypes are based on Alumina substrate with di?erent perforation pro?les, and both exhibit insertion loss around 1 dB while the return loss is around 16 dB. The third is based on RO6002 substrate and exhibits an insertion loss of around 3 dB and a return loss of around 14 dB. To test the leakage loss caused by periodic gaps in the PEC wall, two iSINRD lines with one and three gaps were fabricated. The insertion and return losses of the former case are respectively 1.2 dB and 17 dB compared to 2.5 dB and 18 dB of the latter case.

  • OVERSIZED CIRCULAR CORRUGATED WAVEGUIDES OPERATED AT 42 GHZ FOR ECRH APPLICATION

    摘要: The design, analysis, and manufacturing of an oversized circular metallic corrugated waveguide with rectangular and square grooves for transmitting power from gyrotron to tokamak or dummy load have been carried out. To carry high power at millimeter wave with lower transmission loss, a corrugated waveguide is preferred. A corrugated waveguide with HE11 mode gives lower attenuation than a smooth circular waveguide with TE11 mode. The theory behind the depth and width selection of corrugations required to carry the linearly polarized (HE11) mode is explained in this paper. The proposed structures are designed and simulated in CST microwave studio software. Rectangular and square groove circular corrugated waveguides each having a length of 500 mm were fabricated and tested using ZVA50 vector network analyzer. Based on performance results, it is derived that the square groove corrugated waveguide gives lower insertion loss of 0.08 dB/meter than rectangular groove corrugated waveguide which gives insertion loss of 0.11 dB/meter.

    摘要: This paper presents design of low pass filter for Ultra Wide Band applications using metamaterial. The new configuration of complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) cell is etched in top plane of microstrip line. This cell has very small size so that reduction of size of filter can be achieved. There are two cells etched in top plane of microstrip line. Each cells consist of zigzag pattern called as inter digital coupled lines. The filter has insertion loss close to 0dB over ultra wide band frequency. The S-parameters and VSWR are extracted by simulating design of low pass filter in CST simulation software. Also comparisons of s-parameter and VSWR with respect to different positions of cells like in top plane and in ground plane are discussed in this paper.
