A comparison of lighting control strategies for open offices
摘要: Providing environmental control to users in multi-user offices has long being considered not done. One of the reasons is it was believed that personal control in an open office would rather create conflict among office users than bring benefits. However, a number of experimental studies conducted to explore the experience of personal control of lighting in open offices start building empirical evidence that can help more informed decision-making. This paper presents the results of the second field experiment conducted as part of a larger study exploring the experience of personal control in a multi-user open office context. The experiment showed that despite users having diverse lighting preferences, provision of control even in a multi-user office resulted in a higher satisfaction with the lighting environment than in an office with a fixed light level. The study evaluated three personal control strategies. The results did not deliver evidence of benefits of the control strategy “control set-point” in which the user selected light level was treated as a set-point for daylight regulation. The results showed that when the system remembered the last level set by the user it resulted in a smaller amount of user actions executed using personal control and the resulting lighting conditions in the office better reflected individual preferences compared to the “forgetting” strategy in which the system was resetting overnight to its default state. The results were significant only with respect to satisfaction with daylight in favor of the system remembering the user set light level.

摘要: The high-tech system industry faces many challenges, such as continuously increasing system complexity, scale and customer demands. We address these challenges using a domain model-centric approach. This approach focuses on clear and formal system specifications, connected to a chain of automatic transformations for system analysis, including virtual prototyping, and system synthesis, e.g. code generation. We have applied the approach to the development of large-scale office lighting systems in order to reduce development effort and handle the complexity of system control.

Office light control moving toward automation and humanization: a literature review
摘要: This review was designed to survey the development of control technology and strategies for office light environment from 1993 to 2017 by documentary research. Search engines were applied and 100 publications were selected and analyzed with the focus on energy saving and visual comfort as well as related areas, such as control technology and strategies, shading, light sources and simulation tools. It was found that general tendency in office light control technology and strategies moves towards creating more occupant-friendly and less energy consumption convergence and remarkable progress has been made in computer- and network-based integrated light control technology. Therefore, it could be predicted that in the next decade artificial intelligence and network-based office light control technology will be further developed into a complete automatic control system. Moreover, it is likely that, with the further exploration of Big Data, light control system could be merged with other control systems in an office building, such as heating, cooling, humidity, and ventilation system, forming self-learning and self-evolution control system.

Perception of light source distance from shading patterns
摘要: Varying the distance of a light source from an object alters both the intensity and spatial distribution of surface shading patterns. We tested whether observers can use such cues to infer light source distance. Participants viewed stereoscopic renderings of rough objects with diffuse and glossy surfaces, which were illuminated by a point source at a range of distances. In one task, they adjusted the position of a small probe dot in three dimensions to report the apparent location of the light in the scene. In a second task, they adjusted the shading on one object (by moving an invisible light source) until it appeared to be illuminated from the same distance as another object. Participants’ responses increased linearly with the true light source distance, suggesting that they have clear intuitions about how light source distance affects shading patterns for a variety of different surfaces. However, there were also systematic errors: Subjects overestimated light source distance in the probe adjustment task, and in both experiments, roughness and glossiness affected responses. We find the pattern of results is predicted surprisingly well by a simplistic model based only on the area of the image that exceeds a certain intensity threshold. Thus, although subjects can report light source distance, they may rely on simple—sometimes erroneous—heuristics to do so.

摘要: The human-luminous environment interaction is a topic of interest to the scientific community from the perspectives of comfort and health. The widespread introduction of innovative lighting sources, often justified by energy-saving reasons, poses new challenges for evaluating their emissions and estimating their photobiological effects. In this paper, the results of a measurement campaign to characterize the artificial optical radiation emitted by LED sources suitable for replacing traditional sources used in general lighting are discussed and compared with similar results obtained for fluorescent tubes. The evaluation methods described and the measurement results shown in this paper can be useful for those who regularly perform risk assessments of work environments.

摘要: We consider the problem of improving the performance of smart lighting system by estimating the level of illuminance and color temperature for each user in the workplace. In the conventional method of lighting control system, the chroma meter sensing device is used to measure the illuminance and the color temperature level in the desk. The new method has been developed to provide the level of illuminance and color temperature without using chroma meter for each user at the workplace. The approach has been developed to increase the efficiency of energy in the workplace. Therefore, the smart lighting system with chroma meter has become very useful to provide a level of illuminance and color temperature for each user, but the lighting control system with chroma meter become expensive, and it is an obstacle to introduce the system for each office as the chroma meter is very expensive. In this paper, the level of color temperature has been estimated by using the property of light for color temperature for each user in the office while minimizing the energy. The results conclude that the proposed model of the system could provide illuminance and color temperature for users without using chroma meter, as well the energy could be reduced.

摘要: In the modern era of smart cities, devices are becoming much smarter, smaller, and energy-ef?cient. Modern devices are able to communicate and process with the adaptation of Internet of Things. Despite breakthrough in technologies, a majority of the power generated is utilized for outdoor illumination. Existing smart outdoor illumination methods are self-actuated by the onboard sensors in the luminaire leading to power savings. Investigation reveals the need of ef?cient illumination through the smart collaboration among luminaires. A centralized outdoor illuminating role assignment scheme is proposed to address the collaborative illumination between the heterogeneous luminaires. Simulations and comparisons were carried out on the proposed centralized scheme with the legacy approach and the self-actuated ZB-OLC assignment scheme. The paper concludes with the comparative analysis and simulation results of the effect of role assignment on various types of luminaires, overall power consumption and lifetime analysis of the luminaires with perspective to zones, duration, and neighboring luminaires.

Towards a user preference model for interior lighting Part 1: Concept of the user preference model and experimental method
摘要: The objective and subjective factors influencing human-centric lighting design and their effect on the user of the lighting system are analysed with the aim of developing a user preference model. It is discussed how to apply this user preference model in the Internet of Things network structure of luminaires in order to obtain an ‘Internet of Luminaires’ for good user acceptance. The method of a visual experiment intended to elucidate these concepts and contribute to the user preference model is described. In the experiment, subjects assessed scene brightness, visual clarity, colour preference and scene preference in a real room. Modelling equations of these attributes will be shown and discussed in Part 2 of this work.
