Locally Controllable Surface Foaming of Polymers Induced by Graphene via Near-Infrared Pulsed Laser
摘要: Our study proposed an e?cient and environment-friendly strategy to realize the locally controllable surface foaming on polymers via a near-infrared pulsed laser. This laser foaming was induced by the multilayer graphene (MLG), and only 0.05 wt % MLG gave the polymer an excellent foaming performance with good smoothness and a foaming height of 0.41 mm. Bene?ted from programming and automatically controlling the laser system, foamed patterns of arbitrary shapes with three-dimensional appearance could be accurately written on the polymer surface. Scanning electron microscopy con?rmed that the uniform cells produced by laser foaming were mainly ellipsoidal with closed-cell structures (D = 31.5 μm); moreover, the surface foam had three layers with a total thickness of 633.7 μm. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) revealed the surface carbonization of the foam during laser foaming. Both attenuated total re?ection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and XPS con?rmed the weak oxidation of the polypropylene (PP) matrix caused by laser because of the appearance of C?O and CO groups on foams. Besides, the Raman depth imaging demonstrated the layered carbonization distribution in the foam surface. The micro-Raman spectroscopy con?rmed that the amorphous carbon and the sp/sp2 carbon (CC/CC) were two main carbonized products of PP. This study also proposed the mechanism of polymer laser foaming induced by MLG.

摘要: This study investigates standard and regional algal pigment index 1 (API1) estimates in the Atlantic off the southwestern Iberian Peninsula. Standard API1 data are those delivered by the Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS) orbiting sensor. Equivalent quantities are computed by applying a regional inversion scheme using as input both MERIS and in situ remote sensing re?ectances (Rrs). Reference data for the development of the regional algorithm and for the analysis of tested products include ?eld measurements of total concentration of chlorophyll a (TChla) and coincident Rrs values collected at different distances from the coast. Validation results, based on matchup analysis, identi?es a systematic overestimation of standard API1 versus the reference TChla values. The additional comparison of product maps in selected regions of interest con?rms this tendency and demonstrates the feasibility and relevance of using regional algorithms for investigating spaceborne products. Analogous applications are hence devised for the early-stage evaluation of the forthcoming Sentinel-3/OLCI data products.

Electromagnetic Wave Absorbers (Detailed Theories and Applications) || Methods of Absorber Analysis
摘要: The pyramidal absorbers described in Chapter 1 in the classification of electromagnetic (EM)-wave absorber appearance have been extensively used in anechoic chambers and have already reached sufficient technical achievement levels. In addition, various design methods have been proposed so far regarding these pyramidal absorbers, and their design methods have already been broadly established from aspects of both analysis and actual measurement, as discussed in Chapter 1 [1–5]. On the other hand, various application fields have been expected for flat-type absorbers along with the rapid progress of future communication environments. In view of these situations, in this book we mainly focus on single-layer plate-type absorbers and a multilayer-type absorber composed of flat plate absorbers.

Fano resonant behaviour of waveguide mode in all-dielectric multilayer structure directly monitored by fluorescence of embedded dye molecules
摘要: A method that allows direct monitoring of Fano resonant behaviours of local electric fields inside a waveguide layer in multilayer structures was developed. All-dielectric multilayer structures consisting of two polystyrene waveguide layers separated by a polyvinyl alcohol spacer layer were prepared. One of the waveguide layers was doped with fluorescent dye molecules. The fluorescence spectra of the sample were measured in a Kretschmann attenuated-total-reflection geometry as a function of the angle of incidence of the excitation light. The angle-scan fluorescence excitation spectra exhibited a sharp Fano line shape superposed on a broad band. Results of electromagnetic calculations of the electric field distribution inside the multilayer structure revealed that the local electric fields inside the dye-doped waveguide layer exhibit Fano resonant behaviours due to the near-field coupling to the waveguide mode supported by another waveguide layer. Using the calculated local electric fields, theoretical fluorescence spectra were calculated based on a point dipole model. The theoretical fluorescence spectra were found to reproduce the experimental ones very well, confirming that the observed Fano line shapes in the fluorescence spectra are the manifestation of the Fano resonant behaviours of the local electric fields inside the dye-doped layer.

Time-resolved measurements of two-color laser light emitted from GaAs/AlGaAs-coupled multilayer cavity
摘要: We measured the two-color laser oscillation from a GaAs/AlGaAs-coupled multilayer cavity at 18 °C–42 °C using current injection. We confirmed simultaneous lasing by detecting the sum frequency generation signal generated by the two-color laser light, and performed time-resolved measurement using a streak camera with a spectrometer. From the observed time transient of the spectra at various temperatures, it is clarified that the temperature change of the device, induced by current injection, modulates the effective cavity length. Therefore, the temperature control of the device is a key factor in stable two-color lasing and THz wave generation.

Counterion‐Switched Reversibly Hydrophilic and Hydrophobic TiO <sub/>2</sub> ‐Incorporated Layer‐By‐Layer Self‐Assembled Membrane for Nanofiltration
摘要: The manipulation of surface wettability has been regarded as an efficient strategy to improve the membrane performances. Herein, the counterion-switched reversibly hydrophilic and hydrophobic surface of TiO2-loaded polyelectrolyte membrane are prepared by layer-by-layer assembly of poly(sodium 4-styrene sulfonate) (PSS) and poly(diallydimethyl-ammoniumchloride (PDDA) containing TiO2@PDDA nanoparticles (NPs) on the hydrolyzed polyacrylonitrile (PAN) substrate membrane. The obtained polyelectrolyte multilayer (PEM) membranes [PEM-TiO2]4.5+X? (X? = Cl?, PFO? [perfluorooctanoate] etc.) show different hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity with various counterions. The integration of TiO2 NPs obviously improves the wettability and nanofiltration (NF) performance of PEM membrane for (non)aqueous system of dyes (crystal violet, eriochrome black T) with a high recyclability. The highly hydrophilic [PEM-TiO2]4.5+Cl? (water contact angle [WCA]: 13.2 ± 1.8°) and hydrophobic [PEM-TiO2]4.5+PFO? (WCA: 115.4 ± 2.3°) can be reversibly switched via counterion exchange between Cl? and PFO?, verifying the surface with a reversible hydrophilic–hydrophobic transformation. For such membranes, the morphology, wettability, and NF performance rely on the loading of TiO2@PDDA NPs and surface counterion. Meanwhile, the motion and interaction of water or ethanol in the hydrophilic or hydrophobic membrane are revealed by low-field nuclear magnetic resonance. This work provides a facile and rapid approach to fabricate smart and tunable wetting surface for potential utilization in (non)aqueous NF separation.

Transition from Hopping to Band-like Transport in Weakly-coupled Multilayer MoS2 Field Effect Transistors
摘要: In this article, multilayer MoS2 manufactured from multiple-transfer process of chemical vapor deposition (CVD) grown monolayer MoS2 is studied. Due to the lattice mismatch and larger distance between adjacent MoS2 layers, the interlayer-interaction is weakened and the band structure transition from direct to indirect as well as band-gap shrinkage effect in multilayer is suppressed, as indicated by Raman and photoluminescence (PL) spectra. These structural differences from that of the exfoliated MoS2 make stacked MoS2 layers a better configuration for fabricating high-performance MoS2 FET. Here, back-gate MoS2 field effect transistors (FETs) with different number of layers were fabricated. As the number of layers increases from 1 to 3, the devices’ mobility and on/off ratio show an enhancement from 2 to 62cm2/s·V and 106 to 108, respectively. Metal to insulator transition (MIT) phenomena is also observed in bilayer MoS2 FET. A distributed resistance based model is proposed to study the conductivity of weak-coupled MoS2 layers. Combining the resistance model with temperature dependence characteristics, it is demonstrated that the electron mobility in monolayer MoS2 is limited by hopping transport mechanism, whereas the electron in bilayer can be excited to band-like transport mode due to the immunity of the influence from the charge traps at substrate, which explain the enhancement of mobility and MIT phenomena. This study is universally valid for other two dimensional (2D) materials, paving a way to fabricate high performance nano-electronics for integrated circuits.

Low-power optical network-on-chip using low-loss multilayer silicon wire waveguide
摘要: Photonic network-on-chip can benefit the future integrated structures only if it consumes less power. The optical devices used in the network router such as waveguides and switches must be low power to make the overall network power efficient. In this paper, a passive 4 × 4 optical network-on-chip router has been designed employing wavelength-division multiplexing using a novel multilayer silicon wire waveguide. The switching device, serially coupled double-ring resonator for the router, is also based on this waveguide. The designed router is first of its kind that comprises a multilayer silicon photonic wire waveguide and an improvised waveguide-based ring resonator switch. The performance evaluation of designed on-chip optical network router has been carried out in terms of bit error rate (BER). It has been shown that the designed optical network router offers low losses and better BER performance due to its novel low-loss devices and structure. Additionally, the designed network is complementary MOS compatible and non-blocking, i.e., all processing cores can transmit data to each other on all available wavelengths without any conflict.

摘要: A compact dual-band branch-line coupler for the application of mobile phones has been proposed using multilayer PCB technology. The coupler contains six miniaturization units and two extra transmission lines (TLs). The miniaturization unit is introduced to replace the λ/4 TL for size reducing. For further miniaturization, the overall structure of the coupler uses multi- layer technique. The proposed coupler has high isolation and flexible frequency ratio. A coupler operating at 2.4/3.5 GHz is designed for verification. The size of the BLC is about 0.025 λg 2, reduced by 92% compared with the conventional hybrid.
