    摘要: Heterogeneous IoT enabled networks generally accommodate both jitter tolerant and intolerant traffic. Optical Burst Switched (OBS) backbone networks are handling the resultant volumes of such traffic by transmitting it in huge size chunks called bursts. Because of the lack or limited buffering capabilities within the core network, contentions as well as congestion may frequently occur and thus affecting overall supportable quality of service (QoS). Both contention and congestion will be characterized by frequent burst losses especially when traffic levels surge. The congestion is normally resolved by way of deflecting contending bursts to other less congested paths even though this may lead to differential delays incurred by bursts as they traverse the network. This will contribute to undesirable jitter that may ultimately compromise overall QoS. Noting that jitter is mostly caused by deflection routing which itself is a result of poor wavelength and routing assigning, in this paper we propose a controllable deflection routing (CDR) scheme that allows the deflection of bursts to alternate paths only after controller buffer preset thresholds are surpassed. In this way bursts intended for a common destination are always most likely to be routed on the same or least cost path end-to-end. We describe the scheme as well as compare its performance to other existing approaches. Both analytical and simulation results overall show that the proposed scheme does lower both congestion as well as jitter, thus also improving throughput as well as avoiding congestion on deflection paths.

    摘要: Optical Burst Switching (OBS) networks provide a practical alternative to optical packet switching and optical circuit switching by separating control information from the primary data, sending the former on a separate control channel. However, this separation also renders OBS networks susceptible to a denial- or degradation-of-service attack (intentional or otherwise) when the data provisioned by a header packet on the control channel does not materialize. This paper addresses the problem of detecting and characterizing such problems and describes a method based on monitoring network traffic on the control and data channels. The method is evaluated on a publicly available dataset.

Still there is probability of blocking in the network at high load. In this Paper we have proposed a none blocking Optical Burst Switched network by proposing a new protocol for optical Burst switched network. In this paper we have also compared the blocking probabilities of JET with some fairness protocols with our proposed protocol. A simulated output for effective bandwidth utilization and dropping probabilities of all the outputs are also presented and compared.

    摘要: Analytical results are presented for a WDM optical burst switching network to determine the optimum network parameters for a specified burst loss rate. Results are presented as a function of wavelength conversion capability, WDM channel’s number, number of slots per burst and burst arrival probability regarding burst loss rate. It is observed that at a given BLR of ???????, required wavelength conversion capability is less for high number of WDM channels. At a certain number of WDM channel and given BLR of ???????, for more slot’s number, wavelength conversion capability required is higher. Optimum number of slots per burst are also found for a given wavelength number, BLR of ??????? and wavelength conversion capability.

  • Quantum Key Based Burst Confidentiality in Optical Burst Switched Networks

    摘要: The optical burst switching (OBS) is an emergent result to the technology concern that could achieve a feasible network in future. They are endowed with the ability to meet the bandwidth requirement of those applications that require intensive bandwidth. There are more domains opening up in the OBS that evidently show their advantages and their capability to face the future network traffic. However, the concept of OBS is still far from perfection facing issues in case of security threat. The transfer of optical switching paradigm to optical burst switching faces serious downfall in the fields of burst aggregation, routing, authentication, dispute resolution, and quality of service (QoS). This paper deals with employing RC4 (stream cipher) to encrypt and decrypt bursts thereby ensuring the confidentiality of the burst. Although the use of AES algorithm has already been proposed for the same issue, by contrasting the two algorithms under the parameters of burst encryption and decryption time, end-to-end delay, it was found that RC4 provided better results. This paper looks to provide a better solution for the confidentiality of the burst in OBS networks.

  • Priority based Burst Assembly for Optical Burst Switched Network

    摘要: Objective: Methods: In this paper, burst is aggregated on the basis of priority of the packets coming from different networks at the edge node of the optical network to enhance the QoS parameters such as burst drop, delay, packet delivery ratio and packet error. To reduce traffic related problems in optical switched network different algorithms are used to assemble the bursts and their scheduling in the core network. Bursts are assembled on the basis of time, length and hybrid technique which are scheduled in the core network to reach the edge node and then to their actual or true destinations. In this study, bursts are aggregated on the basis of priority of packets coming from different networks to enhance the network parameters. High and low priority packets are aggregated separately into ht bursts on the basis of which bursts of high priority packets followed by bursts of low priority packets are scheduled in the network. After reaching at edge The proposed algorithm node, bursts are dissembled into packets and then sent to their actual destinations. is simulated in MATLAB with dynamic number of nodes (50-60 for better results) on area of 2000 * 2000 units. Priority based burst assembly algorithm is used for aggregation of bursts and it has been analyzed in terms of network parameters such as delay, packet error, burst drop and burst delivery ratio. the main application of OBS network is at the backbone of Internet due to which the usage of Internet is easy and faster because data is sent on different bandwidths at the same time.
