  • Standardization of <sup>147</sup>Pm by TDCR Liquid Scintillation Counting using Printed Optical Filters; 印刷光学フィルタを用いたTDCR液体シンチレーション計数による<sup>147</sup>Pmの放射能絶対測定;

    摘要: The Optical filter method is one of methods to vary the counting efficiency for TDCR (Triple to Double Coincidence) measurement. A method for the fabrication of optical filters for 147Pm standardization was developed using printed plastic film. Toner was printed on a piece of plastic film using the laser printer. The toner color was graduated in steps by a draw software. The counting efficiency was varied according to the amount of scintillation light absorption. The specific activity of 147PmCl3 solution was successfully measured using the printed optical filters.

  • Increase of an Output Optical Signal of an Acousto-Optic Monochromator upon Frequency Modulation of a Control Signal

    摘要: An angular aperture of an acousto-optical filter upon a linear frequency-modulated (chirp) control signal has been experimentally studied for the first time. The results of studying the spectral and angular dependences of the spectral transmission function of a filter upon a frequency modulation have shown the possibility of an efficient increase of the output optical signal. The value of the optical signal was increased by 2000 times using the selected design of the acousto-optical filter. This makes it possible to obtain a gain in the measurement time or in the value of the detected optical signal. Such an increase of the output signal upon a chirp control signal is provided by the increase of the angular aperture and broadening of the spectral transmission bandwidth together with the required proportional increase of the control signal power.

    摘要: In this article, authors present an all-in-one (AIO) scanner with 24 degrees of freedom and a photodetector as well as a photoelectric actuator for very low cost multiphoton microscopy (MPM). The main mirror, optical filters, the scan lens, the tube lens as well as the scanner in a conventional multiphoton microscope are replaced by a single AIO scanner. The AIO scanner plays a critical role on very low cost (VLC) multiphoton microscopy due to its compact size, less optical components and lower cost. The presented AIO scanner is instrumental for a very low cost multiphoton microscope (VLC-MPM) due to its compact size, less optical components and lower cost.

    摘要: A conical microresonator with cone half-angle of ~10-5 rad is fabricated from a single mode fiber by a chemical etching method. Fano resonance with EIT-like spectrum is generated in a thin fiber taper coupled conical microcavity. Such the Fano spectrum can be used as the bandpass optical filter. Also, the central wavelength of the filter can be tuned continuously by displacing the fiber taper along the axis direction of the conical microcavity. The quality factor and extinction ratio of the optical filter could be up to 7×104 and 11.4dB. And the wavelength tunable coefficient is 0.22nm/mm.

  • Optical Filter Designs for Multi-Color Visible Light Communication

    摘要: In visible light communication (VLC), using multiple colors is an efficient way to enhance data rate, leading to multi-color VLC (MC-VLC). However, the performance of MC-VLC is jeopardized by the spectral overlaps of different colors. Thin-film optical filters, as the key component of MC-VLC systems, are usually adopted to separate colors. The passband bandwidth (BW) and center wavelength (CWL) of optical filters are critical to mitigate the crosstalk among colors, and thus must be carefully designed. Moreover, due to the intrinsic wavelength shift of the CWL with the varying of the angle of incidence (AoI), it is challenging to support mobility for MC-VLC. In this paper, we consider a joint design of multiple optical filters for MC-VLC by properly selecting the BW and CWL of each filter. We first investigate the optical filter design for a fixed receiver location. Then, to support mobility, we propose two robust optical filter designs, namely statistically and worst-case robust designs, which do not rely on the exact receiver location. Efficient methods are developed to solve the corresponding design problems and obtain the optimized optical filters. Compared with the existing optical filters, the proposed optical filters exhibits much better performance in various scenarios.

  • Hybrid transmission of unicast and broadcast signals without optical filter for WDM systems

    摘要: This paper proposes and experimentally demonstrates the hybrid transmission of unicast and broadcast signals without using optical filters for the WDM systems. The dual-wavelength generated from a laser source are modulated by a phase modulator (PM) with a broadcast signal. Then, the central carriers and side-bands are separated by using a polarization beam splitter (PBS) and modulated with unicast data using Mach-Zender modulator (MZM). After combining side-bands (broadcast data) and central carriers (unicast data) using PBS, the hybrid data are transmitted through 25 km single mode fiber (SMF) to the remote node (RN). By probably adjusting the polarization controller (PC), the central carriers and side-bands are separated by PBS into two orthogonal polarization states. After transmission over 25 km SMF, the measured bit error rate (BER) curves and eye diagrams show that the performance of the proposed system is excellent to simultaneously transmit both unicast and broadcast signals. Moreover, only two modulators are required, which is cost-effective and also FBG or optical filter is not required due to sensitivity to temperature that decreases the system stability.
