摘要: Signal conversion from 28 GHz-band wireless to optical signals and transfer over optical fiber were demonstrated successfully using a newly-designed antenna-coupled electrode LiNbO3 electro-optic modulator, which is suitable for uplinks in 5G mobile front-haul.

摘要: We propose a novel design of an efficient polarization modulator with asymmetrically coupled multiple quantum wells (MQW). By using abnormal quantum-confined Stark effect (QCSE) in the asymmetrically coupled quantum wells, we numerically demonstrate more than one-order improvement in modulation efficiency from the conventional uniform quantum-well design.

Broadband γ-graphyne saturable absorber for Q-switched solid-state laser
摘要: γ‐graphyne, as a member of two‐dimensional carbon materials, has attracted much attentions benefitting from its unique characteristics, such as high carriers mobility, high stability, etc. In the present study, a γ‐graphyne saturable absorber (SA) was fabricated and characterized. The linear optical absorption in the spectral range from the visible to mid‐infrared as well as the nonlinear optical character of the SA were investigated. The passively Q‐switched solid‐ state lasers emitting at 639 nm, 1342 nm, 1932 nm were realized by using the γ‐graphyne SA. The results indicate that the γ‐graphyne could be a promising alternative for rare broadband optical modulator.

摘要: In this work, we experimentally demonstrate a single-drive push-pull Silicon Mach-Zehnder modulator with more than 48 GHz modulation bandwidth and VπL ≈ 2.3 V.cm, compatible with standard Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) process. The modulator also presents S11 < ?15 dB up to 50 GHz.

High extinction ratio integrated optical modulator for quantum telecommunication systems
摘要: A method for increasing the extinction ratio of integrated optical Mach-Zehnder modulators based on LiNbO3 via the photorefractive effect is proposed. The influence of the photorefractive effect on the X- and Y-splitters of intensity modulators is experimentally studied. An increase in the modulator extinction ratio by 17 dB (from 30 to 47 dB) is obtained. It is shown that fabricated modulators with a high extinction ratio are important for quantum key distribution systems.

摘要: This paper presents the design and the performance of a six stage GaAs MMIC distributed amplifier (DA) for optical driver applications. The DA is fabricated in a commercially available 0.15 μm GaAs p-HEMT technology. The amplifier exhibits 13 dB of small gain over 40 GHz of 3 dB bandwidth with a power consumption equal to 550 mW. Group delay time variation up to 30 GHz is only ±7 ps. The output power is higher than 16 dBm (4 Vpp), which makes the circuit suitable as a preamplifier for lithium-niobate (LiNbO3) optical modulator driver. The DA is demonstrated as a part of the modulator driver in a 12.5 GBps PAM-4 (25Gbps) optical system by using the eye diagram as a figure of merit.
