  • Numerical simulation and experimental analysis of an LCPV/T system under real operating conditions

    摘要: In this study the performance evaluation of a low concentration photovoltaic/thermal (LCPV/T) module under different operating conditions (fixed flow & outlet temperature) was carried out, numerically and experimentally. In addition, the influences of individual parameters on module performance were also studied. All experiments showed that both the electrical and thermal output first increased and then decreased with time. The maximum experimental values were 470 W and 1916 W, respectively. The electrical and thermal efficiencies, however, first decreased and then increased with time. The maximum respective experimental values were 17.28% and 59.84%. The results also indicated that in general, there were errors of 10%e20% between the theoretical and experimental values. Therefore, modification coefficients were determined to correct the theoretical model. The results showed that the relative error between the modified theoretical value and the experimental value is stable within 5%.

  • Electrically switchable light transmittance of epoxy-mercaptan polymer/nematic liquid crystal composites with controllable microstructures

    摘要: In this paper, we report the design, preparation and properties of epoxy-mercaptan polymer/nematic liquid crystal (LC) composites with electrically switchable optical transmittance. It is found that the polymer microstructure can be regulated from porous structure to microspheres or beads by appropriately modulating the curing temperature, the molecular structure of mercaptan, as well as the compositions of epoxy, mercaptan and nematic LC host. Under an external electric field, the thin films based on such composites can switch from opaque to transparent. The electro-optical performance is found to be highly dependent on the polymer microstructures and the optimum characteristics can be achieved in the composite with a microstructure of smaller microspheres. The possible mechanism for the formation of polymer microspheres and the effects of the microstructures on the electro-optical characteristics of the composites are also discussed. This work is expected to provide an efficient way to control the microstructure of epoxy/mercaptan polymer and develop the composites with switchable optical transmittances for both civil and military applications.

  • Laser-induced improvement in tribological performances of surface coatings with MoS2 nanosheets and graphene

    摘要: To deal with the corrosive property of bio-oil, laser-induced coatings were synthesized on the typical cylinder liner rubbing surfaces. Two nano-additives including MoS2 nanosheets and graphene were introduced into the coatings. The tribological performances of the coated surfaces were tested on a multifunctional cylinder liner-piston ring tribometer. The surfaces before and after sliding were characterized with modern surface analysis technology including Raman spectra, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and etc. The results show that the nickel-based coated surfaces can effectively prevent the corrosion of the bio-oil. In addition, the laser-induced coatings had better antifriction and antiwear performances than the corresponding traditional electroless plating coatings. With the introduction of MoS2 nanosheets or graphene, the tribological performances of the coatings were further enhanced. Laser irradiation increased the concentration of the nano-additives in the coatings and the thickness of the tribo-layers, which accounted for their outstanding tribological performances.

    摘要: In this numerical research, the heat transfer modes in its thermal performance by using louvered absorber. Three dimensional steady state turbulent air flow was solved by finite volume while three dimensional steady finite difference was used in the final solution. Three geometries of absorber plate were studied; without louvers, absorber with two louvers and absorber with three louvers. The performance of solar collector (higher mean air temperature) is improved by using louvered absorber.

  • Performance Analysis and Constellation Optimization of Star-QAM-Aided Differential Faster-than-Nyquist Signaling

    摘要: In this letter, motivated by the recent differential faster-than-Nyquist (DFTN) signaling concept, we propose an improved 16-point double-ring star quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM)-aided DFTN signaling transmission, which allows us to attain a higher bandwidth ef?ciency as well as a simple receiver based on noncoherent detection. We derive an analytical error-rate bound for the proposed star-QAM DFTN signaling in an uncoded scenario. The derived bound is used for optimizing the star-QAM constellation for our DFTN signaling in terms of error-rate performance in an uncoded scenario. Our simulation results demonstrate that the proposed star-QAM DFTN scheme outperforms its conventional phase-shift-keying-based DFTN counterpart.

  • Wideband balun filter on slot-line resonator with intrinsic balanced performance in magnitude and phase

    摘要: In this article, a novel wideband balun filter on the coupled slotline-line resonator topology with intrinsic balanced performance in magnitude and phase performance is presented. The proposed wideband balun filter consists of four uniform half-wavelength slot-line resonators (SLRs) in middle, one single-ended unbalanced port, and one balanced port with two terminals. By utilizing the distinct field conversion from the slotline to the microstrip line feeding line, the proposed technique can realize good balanced performance inherently in magnitude and phase over a wideband frequency range. In order to demonstrate the proposed scheme and support the design conception, one circuit prototype is designed, fabricated, and tested. All of the measured results of the frequency response, magnitude, and phase imbalance performance agree well with the simulated one, and these results have effectively demonstrated its good filtering property, intrinsic balanced performance in magnitude and phase over a wide band frequency.

  • 4.1: The influence of adhesives and binders resistivities on the optic performance of electrophoretic display modules

    摘要: the charged particles into micro units, namely the microcapsules[3]. However, the introduction of microencapsulation should be accompanied with a binder material such that the microcapsules can be fixed on a substrate without detachment. Moreover, an adhesive layer should be also needed to ensure sufficient adhesion strength between the electrophoretic layer (EPL) and a back-plane driving device[4]. As necessary components in EPD module, the properties of binders and adhesives are very important to the performance of EPD modules. Among the properties, the volume resistivities of binders and adhesives are of significant importance since the volume resistivities influence the electro-optic performance directly. In this paper, the volume resistivities of various binders and adhesives will be investigated and their influences on the optic performance will be discussed.

  • 39.2: <i>Invited Paper:</i> Fixed reactive monomer on the PI side chain to simplify the UV process in PS-VA technology

    摘要: this method also has the problem that PI anchor force is wealy. We fixed reactive monomer (RM) on the side chain of Polyimide (PI), successfully removed the UV2 process, and named as Surface Control Vertivally Aligned (SC-VA) technology. At present, Polymer Stabilized Vertivally Aligned (PSVA) technology need long time irradiation (UV2 process) to remove residual RM, to ensure good reliabitity performance. The liquid crystal alignment process of SC-VA same as PSVA, the panel is applied voltage, meanwhile, irradiated by UV light. Reliabitity performance is excellent although bypass UV2 process. The contrast ratio potential improved beacause of smooth PI suface.

  • A novel modulation format identification based on amplitude histogram space

    摘要: In this paper, we proposed a novel modulation format identification method for square M-quadrature amplitude modulation (M-QAM) signals which is based on amplitude histogram space of the incoming data after analog-to-digital conversion, chromatic dispersion compensation at the receiver. We demonstrated the identification of quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK), 16-QAM, 64-QAM formats with an amplitude histogram space. Simulation results show that it achieve 100% identification accuracy when the incoming signal OSNR is 14 dB to identify the modulation format of QPSK, 16-QAM, and 64-QAM signals in digital coherent systems. The method has low complexity and small delay.

  • One step to prepare CNTs modified porous g-C3N4 with excellent visible-light photocatalytic performance

    摘要: A kind of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) modified porous graphitic carbon nitride (CNTs/pg-C3N4) photocatalyst was successfully synthesized via one step thermal polycondensation and completely measured by some instruments, such as XRD, FTIR, TEM, BET, DRS, PL, etc. And the relevant experimental data indicated that loaded CNTs could be beneficial to the photoinduced charges transfer, facilitating photoinduced charge separation rate. Meanwhile, surface area and visible light adsorption of CNTs/pg-C3N4 photocatalyst could be increased and improved. These synergetic effects resulted in the as-synthesized CNTs/pg-C3N4 photocatalyst exhibiting better visible-light-induced photocatalytic performance for organic pollutant degradation and the product of clean energy than bulk g-C3N4, pg-C3N4 and CNTs modified bulk g-C3N4, and excellent stable photocatalytic performance was also observed after several recycling experiments. Finally, a reasonable improved photocatalytic reaction mechanism for CNTs/pg-C3N4 photocatalyst is presented.
