摘要: As a popular signal transmission technique, PAM4 is widely used short and medium distance optical communication networks. Though there exists techniques to monitor its performance, it’s still necessary to do more research on techniques for increasing resource utilization and monitoring effects in PAM4 optical network. In this paper, the experimental data of chromatic dispersive (CD) and optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR) under the condition of nonlinear optical fiber is generated by setting relevant parameters in PAM4 optical communication system we constructed. Then the eigenvectors of experimental data are obtained by constructing asynchronous amplitude histograms and we use principal component analysis technique to reduce the dimension of eigenvectors by 20.8%. Finally, the dimensionality reduction results are used as the input of support vector regression algorithm to complete the prediction of CD and OSNR. The prediction errors of CD and OSNR are varied in the range of -0.02 to 0.02 dB and -0.8 to 0.8 ps/nm respectively. The simulation results show that the proposed method is effective and accurate in monitoring the performance of PAM4 optical communication system and it can also be applied to monitor the performance of PAM-N optical communication system.

摘要: An optical spectrum measurement and analysis method using faster R-CNN-based object detection technique is proposed. This method can simultaneously analyze OSNR, bandwidth, and center wavelength of FWDM system. The average accuracy reaches 98.6%.

Investigations of the instantaneous performance of a solar chimney power plant installed in Aswan using IoT
摘要: Although solar chimney power plant (SCPP) has a promising potential to convert the solar energy to electric power, greater efforts are needed to ensure its successful commercialisation on a large scale. The main obstacles with regard to the large-scale applications of SCPP are its efficiency, bulk size and dependency on solar irradiation. A comprehensive study on the integration of the Internet-of-Things (IoT) as a novel technique to monitor and hence improve its performance is presented. A small-scale SCPP is designed and constructed specifically for this purpose in Aswan, Egypt. The instantaneous performance parameters (temperature, solar intensity, wind speed, open circuit voltage, power etc.) were measured and further processed using IoT. The results show that IoT has a promising potential to enhance the performance of the system by providing a complete picture of the whole measurements. This is considered as a step forward for enhancing the technologies which will ensure the success of large-scale SCPP in the real world.

A novel modulation format identification based on amplitude histogram space
摘要: In this paper, we proposed a novel modulation format identification method for square M-quadrature amplitude modulation (M-QAM) signals which is based on amplitude histogram space of the incoming data after analog-to-digital conversion, chromatic dispersion compensation at the receiver. We demonstrated the identification of quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK), 16-QAM, 64-QAM formats with an amplitude histogram space. Simulation results show that it achieve 100% identification accuracy when the incoming signal OSNR is 14 dB to identify the modulation format of QPSK, 16-QAM, and 64-QAM signals in digital coherent systems. The method has low complexity and small delay.

摘要: In this paper, optical performance monitoring is presented as enabler to address the key challenges in disaggregated optical networks. In fact, data plane elements for non-intrusive monitoring of different modulation formats will be discussed, reviewing different options based on high resolution spectral analysis. Furthermore, we will report how the information retrieved by these monitoring probes can be used to actually control the transceivers and other data plane elements, emphasizing on the suitable ?gures of merit to be delivered to the SDN control, orchestration and management planes.
