    摘要: This paper presents two types of modified CPW Wilkinson power dividers at X-band using GaN MMIC technology on a SiC substrate. Lumped element equivalents of the transmission line arms are used and they are capacitively loaded to achieve a reduced circuit size of λ/14 × λ/8. A symmetrical series RLC circuit in the isolation network is used to compensate for the bandwidth degradation after circuit miniaturization maintaining a fractional bandwidth of 29% for input/output return losses and isolation better than 20 dB with an extra insertion loss less than 0.35 dB.

  • TWO-WAY MODIFIED WILKINSON POWER DIVIDER FOR UWB APPLICATIONS USING TWO SECTIONS OF UNEQUAL ELECTRICAL LENGTHS

    摘要: This paper presents 2-way Power Divider (PD) for Ultra-Wideband (UWB) applications. The proposed power divider is realized using two cascaded sections of Wilkinson Power Divider (WPD) of equal characteristic impedances and unequal electrical lengths with inserted open stub to improve matching, isolation and to broaden the bandwidth. It is proved analytically using the “Even Odd Mode” analysis method and the ABCD matrix to obtain exact closed-form design equations. A detailed design methodology is introduced to facilitate the implementation without needing CAD optimization. To verify the proposed design methodology, a 2-way power divider is designed, fabricated on a Rogers RT/Duroid 5880 substrate and compared to other published 2-way microstrip power dividers. Measured data show good agreement with Electromagnetic (EM)-Circuit Co-Simulation, which proves the design equations and methodology. The proposed planar 2-way PD achieves an isolation ≥ 13.5 dB, input return loss ≥ 10 dB, output return loss ≥ 14.5 dB and exceeded insertion loss ≤ 0.9 dB (over the ?3 dB splitting ratio) through the whole UWB range from 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz. Furthermore, it has a compact area of 22 mm × 15 mm, which provides 50% enhancement over similar microstrip PD circuits while achieving better isolation and matching.

  • ULTRA-WIDEBAND FOUR-WAY IN-PHASE MULTILAYER POWER DIVIDER WITH HIGH ISOLATION

    摘要: A novel ultra-wideband four-way in-phase multilayer power divider based on the microstrip-to-slotline transition is proposed in this paper as a complemental slotline power divider with high isolation. Due to the introduction of three lumped isolation resistors, the isolations between output ports in the new structure have been improved. The design expressions have been derived by making use of odd-mode and even-mode method. Both simulated and measured results have proved that the proposed power divider has good impedance matching at all ports, high isolations between output ports, excellent amplitude and phase balance, as well as ?at group delay over the wide frequency range from 3.8 GHz to 11 GHz.

  • Multilayer Balanced-to-Unbalanced Power Divider with Wideband Transmission Characteristic and Common-Mode Suppression

    摘要: This paper presents a wideband multilayer balanced-to-unbalanced (BTUB) power divider consisting of three metallic layers with two substrate layers for inherent common-mode suppression. With very simple structure, the working mechanism of the proposed power divider is investigated through even- and odd-mode equivalent circuit analysis, and the designed procedure is also summarized. For demonstration, an example of wideband BTUB power divider is implemented through standard printed circuit board process. The bandwidth of 63% of the fabricated BTUB power divider can be obtained with the best differential-mode transmission coefficient of -3.45 dB. The isolation bandwidth of approximately 63% can also be achieved. Good agreement between the simulated and measured results is observed, where the measured -15 dB common-mode suppression bandwidth is about 95%. Besides, the performance is stable after adding the shielding cavity.

    摘要: We propose a Wilkinson power divider that suppresses harmonics using radial open stubs. By combining quarter-wavelength coupled lines and radial open stubs, broadband harmonic suppression can be realized. Simulation of the proposed configuration showed promising results.

  • A SYMMETRICAL OUTPUTS UNIPLANAR OUT-OF-PHASE POWER DIVIDER WITHOUT PHASE SHIFTER

    摘要: A new out-of-phase power divider (PD) without phase shifter at the output ports is proposed. Based on admittance matrix, a new topology of uniplanar power divider with symmetrical outputs is designed. Under conditions of good matching, perfect isolation, and 180? phase di?erence between two output ports, the corresponding design equations and synthesis procedures are derived and given with admittance matrix. To verify the design approach, an out-of-phase power divider operating at 2 GHz with equal power division ratio is designed, fabricated, and measured. Experimental results demonstrate that the input return loss is better than 32 dB, the insertion loss is less than 0.29 dB and the isolation is better than 33 dB. The amplitude imbalance between the output ports is 0.03 dB and the phase di?erence between the two output ports is 181.6? at the operation frequency. Further more, 49.9% relative bandwidth of 15 dB return loss and 39.4% relative bandwidth of 20 dB port isolation are achieved.
